Haven't had my hands on one but does anyone find it interesting how *all* the Virus TI demos on Access' home page sound clearly worse than the non-TI ones. However it is also interesting how awesome the Virus Indigo TDM *plugin* demo sounds freaking awesome. I read a review that said the TDM plugin actually uses same hardware (protools TDM) as the old Virus did.
Question for someone with both: Can the TI's produce 1:1 bit perfectly the old demo songs from Virus B/C/Indigo?
To both RADIOKLOW and Flipjunkie1. Stanton CS3 is just a midi controller, it doesn't make any sound on its own. Why I used it along with virus is because it allows to interact with the sound (or actually adjusting sound parameters) in a more natural way rather than tweaking knobs. I used Bome's Midi Translator to link them together.
I have been playing a Virus TI since 2007 : from the very begining I have thought it is an extraordinary instrument fit to every style and orientation. What is the Stanton CS3 and could you please give precisions about the linking. Than you for this good & interesting video.
Im not talking shit in anyway , im really curious , doesn't the virus have pretty much the best onboard effects you could ever need ? and if so why use the stanton thing ?
I just got this- and =4 months before got the snow- I love these synths-by far the best- I just found one from 2000 that I will be testing- just to have. Bands from Depeche mode have used then=m on there last 4 albums-great synths.
Wow really cool stuff. What a sound. If you have a minute, Could you tell a bit more about this controller, and also if you have a problem with the amount of voices on this Virus TI. Do you ever run out of them? How many tracks maximum did you ever use? And what about effects system? How many can you use at the same time? Can you have them independent of each other on every track? I hope you could enlighten me. Thanks and Cheers.
@syzygywell :) i would have bought it but ive already got one and i would be silly to buy another. Out of curiosity, are you running it out of usb? because there is a severe db cut whenever i do that, alot of people hear loud as better, quality-wise.
@sacredgeometry I have the virus b and frankly its the noisiest unit I have. When I first heard it years ago I really liked it but since I've grown far less fond of it. There are also so many more options now. feature wise the TI series is hard to beat but I have such good effects units I don't need on board. I think I'm selling it and getting the Radikal Accelerator as then looking for an older sequential like a prophet 600.
@syzygywell so what is your basis for saying the ti sounds worse than the b? Thats fair enough. I havent heard much good from radikal, i've heard they can be a little up and down quality wise. Regardless they sound pretty nice. HAve you thought about a mopho over an old sequential board? They are really fordable and will be alot more versatile and reliable but still have that nice chunky old prophet sound.
@sacredgeometry the virus TI sound is over used and over rated...the Virus C sounds much nicer...TI is to digital... Both me and my friend who own the TI agree that its a great synth, but we like the old Virus sound. but it also depends the type of music u want to make...and preference for sound.
@thestash16 Fair enough, to be honest I much prefer the Ti and find that it can sound far closer to analog than the other Viruses not that the difference is worth mentioning most of the time.
TI has many new features, comparing to Virus C like new types of filters, fx's, osc's etc; up to 3 extra usb outputs in addition to analog outputs; total VST/AU integration; lifetime free firmware updates.
i have noticed that many people likes virus B or virus C more than ti because they feel the b & c more "analog" and more "original virus sound" . That is the real question , doesnt matter that the ti has 20.000 million of filters + 395325 usb connections,. The question is : which one has the better sound?
I liked the b&c series better not because it sounded more analog per se (because I don't think the virus sounds analog for the most part) but really just a more ballsy characteristic sound in general. The TI series is beautifully made but buggier and I wasn't as fond of the sound although it is much more feature rich to be sure.
yes, its simple, just plug in the usb once you have installed the virus and you can create your own sequences and it will trigger sound from virus. the virus ships with its own plug in so the simplest answer to your question is Yes.
all viruses have the same oscs they all in theory sound the same...but in practice there are very subtile differences which leads me to like the b and the new ti s the best
Yeah, great Virus bass

Ive got a B Classic , a TI Snow, A Wadorf MicroQ and a Nord Rack 3
and i can tell you that both MicroQ and Rack3 kick ass whenever introduced to a mix
while the Viruses don't relly stand out.

What is that touch pad (kaoss like) for effects? Is that controller or some kind of effect processor?
myhapylife 2 years ago
you all must realise that all virus
series A - C have the same osc
type with the low harmonic content.
the TI series feautring both classic osc but new osc types such as WT, Grain,
Formant etc...
Noizedrive 2 years ago 7
@Noizedrive unfortunately with converters that don't sound as good. The TI kicks the b & c in functions but not in sound.
