  • For people who are going on this rapid, do not worry you will be fine as long as you have your life jacket on and tight and it's very rare that you will be slipped into it, usually if your knocked off it will knock you away from the undecut

  • The guides are pretty helpful on this. They usually stand on the rock and give you exact instructions and if you follow them you'll be fine. My group did fine on this with their help.

  • I would not go through this when my husband I went up this summer I rode through with a guide

  • I just hit Dimple this afternoon. We smashed right into it, but somehow the current carried us along and we came out alright. Water was very high after recent rains. We did the run in about 2 hours!

  • i think someone went in the cave :0

  • i hit dimple this morning first time rafting with my sister, i don't see whats hard about it, like they had just the two of us on the 4-6ppl boats, but what makes it hard? we didn't even come close to flipping

  • @BrassBallsProduction there is an entrapment under dimple rock and if you fall out of the raft ur foot can get caught in the entrapment and the water current will drown you. 20 people have died from dimple.

  • @TheDude3443

No..please dont act like you know what your talking about...

Very, very rare, worse case situation, you get sucked into a undercut rock (dimple) also 20 people is not correct.... a foot entrapment is a complete different thing. foot entrapment occurs when you try to stand up in moving whitewater and your foot becomes stuck between objects below the water, rocks, cracks, etc..

  • @BrassBallsProduction some people think there hot shit and try ramming into dimple rock, like one time when I saw a kayaker trying to run up onto dimple rock because he thought he was bad ass...

  • such a fun spot i wanna run it on a kayak at some point

  • OOHHH...the idea is NOT to hit Dimple. Good eddy on right hand side

  • He might break the river!

  • @brwnsuga07 Be lucky, my first time rafting was on the Upper Gauley. Went out at sweets falls. Still at it though... trying out to be a river guide next year.

  • @brwnsuga07 Was this your first time?

I know i had worse experiences. Still you always have to be ready to fall out. Just part of rafting.

  • Even the smaller rivers (compared to other class plus 5 rivers) can have dangers. White water Rafting is dangerous no matter where you go. Every time we did this part of the river, they made sure there was a guide taking us thru. Undercuts, hydraulics and such must always be looked at seriously.

  • Just did this saturday, we flipped and a couple of us were stuck under the raft for some time. It was wild lol. Love how they just kick the rafts and flip em over.

  • i did that today i am 13 and my legs were in it and my brother grabbed me!!!! Next time i will walk around!!!!

  • We overturned too! I was submerged in water for a long time, then I could barely keep my head above the water, I thought I was a gonner!

  • My whole group crashed here too and I was stuck under the raft for a while. We all made it alive and well though.

  • i did this last week and i when we were doing it, I was to scared to actually enjoy this rapid lol!! We went over it perfectly tho

  • oh my g was it fun? iv only been on the middle yough, kyacking and rafting

  • yeah consider yourself very lucky, when we went over dimple rock we only did a taco, but no one fell out. whats the number up too, 14?

  • ya every one in my crew got smashed and fell out at diimple we a swam swimmers rapids but no body got hurt one of my friends got stuck under pinball rock but got out

  • one of my friends got caught in dimple last year...river was low she was lucky to get out

  • people can die on this rapid

  • Jesus freaking Christ. People can die any number of ways. The state says that 9 people have died *near* Dimple Rock in the last 33 years. That's less than 1 every 3 years, on a river with an enormous number of rafters. Your chance of dying in a car accident this year is about 40 to 50 times higher than the chance of drowning at Dimple Rock on a rafting trip.

  • actulay more people die from the large mass of the rock and of the eddies and and the current. i was at ohiopyle, and my raft guide told me and my family.

  • @90210steve I agree with you man.. people need to chill.. FFS people drown in backyard pools more often... Look at how many videos there is of rafts flipping at dimple rock.. Its very comon...You didnt almost die cause your head went under the raft for 40 seconds..yes..I agree..swims can be scary..Not having control is an unpleasant feeling... But 13 people in 33 years...Thats low numbers..

  • Wow! That is just about the worst place to do that on that rapid. :) I'm glad that you all were ok.

  • We all survived on this overturning, but others haven't. :-(

  • Did everyone survive?
