  • Interesting annotations, perhaps they should show this again due to all the sabre rattling that is going on... Thanks for posting

  • Question, say that enough people survive and some level of order was restored to society and our efforts were focused on developing technology again. I wonder how long it would take before any infrastructure would start being developed? 500 years out.

  • I could see Stephan falling victim to radiation poising, but how did it happen to Denise? Was it just from the exposure they encountered when Denise took off outside? The rest of the family didn't seem to have radiation sickness.

  • I'm sorry, but even in Gone With the Wind they lined the injured up in rows for easier access. In M>A>S>H> they laid them out in rows. This is supposed to be a hospital? It's mayhem, and the effect would have been greater if it were neater. More impact.

  • two thumbs up lothartheterrible! i just wish we can disinvent this nuclear S___! damn.

  • They all got cancer.

  • @Eurosoooooooong No duh sherlock

  • WW3 thermo nuclear war and your land is bombed to nothing. no point in living in the new stone age after world-wide nuclear war.

  • 3:45 to 5:04 so scary and yet so sad

  • @austgyu

Its on the end of part XIV

  • I wonder what our founding fathers would think of America today...

  • @InAGaddaDaVida29 Before or after they got over the shock that slavery is no longer lawful?

I'm certain that half would applaud, half would cry.

  • @lothartheterrible Washington would punch the living daylights out of the 111th Congress.

  • @lothartheterrible The thing I enjoy most, apart from this movie you uploaded, is reading your thoughts and comments. You are just brilliant, and strikes me as someone really intelligent. We don't get many people like that on Youtube. I'm glad I stumbled across this video!

  • @IIIL47v Thank you, and I am glad you enjoyed the film.

  • @IIIL47v I agree. :)

  • @lothartheterrible quite a few of them-samuel adams and benjamin franklin, for example-would be elated-they were anti-slavery.

  • @zatoth13 Hence the "half would applaud, half would cry".

  • @zatoth13 not to mention Thomas Jefferson and John Adams.

  • @InAGaddaDaVida29 I don't think the Founding Fathers thought that within the next 200 years, a weapon would be created that could, in a sense, harness the power of the Sun.

  • @InAGaddaDaVida29 They would think: "Good God!"

  • @austgyu part XIII

  • @Kemorowolf It's a good question...

  • @austgyu Uh, no, I didn't. If anybody did it was the preparers of the DVD I ripped it from.

  • See if this is any help: you finally get to the front of a very long line; you complain that your hair is coming out, along with everything else! The guy behind the desk gives you a paper bag, and asks: "Is this big enough? Next in line, please!"

Yes, I will admit that it's a sick joke. A very sick joke, indeed! But by now, you're probably as good as dead, anyway; and so there really wouldn't be much of anything that they could do for you.

    o:'-(

  • @rayandreina

    Offer Euthanasia?

  • @rayandreina Nope, because of the changes at the cellular level when exposed to lethal doses of radiation. Nothing can reverse that. This is the point where my 45 would come in handy. Who would want to live through the suffering. Hell even those weren't exposed face a life of misery.

  • i dont really know why we need nukes, we can settle differences with conventinal war. thing is if a country with nukes is losing a war, they won't simply take a loss and be absorbed into whoever won, they will use their nukes to fuck over the enemy, and so goes the princibles of war. Nukes are basically just a ok if i lose so do you or a i can win any time i want button, but man...

  • 70 million were killed in two conventional wars during the 20th century.

    Conventional war is horrifically lethal.

  • @mongoose704 Yes and the death count under Communist ruled countries since 1918 is around 150 million. All killed or starved to death by their own government.

  • @marathon1974

As I have said for years: The real enemy never lies "over there."

The real enemy is government. That's what our founding fathers believed.

Oh we DO NEED GOVERNMENT but it needs to be constitutionally restricted and held in check by representtive organizations of the people and a well armed militia.

  • @mongoose704 Agreed. That's very true.

  • @Guynumber7 it begs the question, why have war period? Too many nutcases in power.

  • Comment removed

  • look amricans and the british where the richest conterys in the world can't we put our diffrences aside

  • American and Brits alike take the piss out of each other all you like. Just be thankful it never happend.

  • it hasn't happened yet...

  • why does this never get shown on xmas day???? its so uplifting

  • Yep..LOL...I'd put it up there with Holiday classics like White Christmas, It's a Wonderful Life.

  • @TURBODORK2 Me and my family usually do a Day After, Threads and Testament triple bill every Christmas eve. This is to ensure that the little bastards don't start crying when they don't get what they wanted.

  • @CTM1978

    At least you're not ash...

  • Keep in mind this was made in 1983. When people weren't watching this they were watching "Dallas," "Dynasty" or "Falcon Crest."

  • anyone thought they may just want to kill all of us for kicks??

  • 1:28 "you're not really eye-talian, are you?" Who wrote this?

  • The conditions portrayed in this movie, would be far, far worse in real life. Just like the credits state.

  • Not only that-We were a responsible people, could you imagine if the Nazi's would have gotten it 1st?They would have used it on every city they could you ding a ling.

  • He's also from Barbados, a country thats never done anything

  • skykhan is typical of the investation of fucktards on the web

  • This is some sad shit...

  • If there was ever radiation or hazardous material contamination, if you had access, wash down with clear water. Do not rub your skin (cuz that puts the chemical into your system), but rinse yourself off with as much water as you can access, to get it off your body. Having taken off your clothes first, discard them (cuz they'd be permanently contaminated as well), and have a clean outfit to put on after. This is your best chance (according to FEMA, etc).

  • Stephen does look healthey and the boy apart from his blindness seems fine too butits Denise who was rolling in the stuff thats come off worse and my god is that Bruce thise part is so sad that couple were so cute now their dying and look about 100 so sad

  • Wow...Steve Guttenburg has never looked more healthy and vital!!! ;-)

  • yup, im sure theres hope that SOMEDAY well live in peace, lets just hope that it wont be when theres one human left

  • Its so funny how the US tried to potray the russians as evil.

And now were doing the same thing with muslims.

Cant we all just realize that we all bleed the same?

We all are human, lets start to prove it!

  • the muslims are doing a good job of it themselves.

  • umm, i meant that, the government after 9/11 made muslims look bad, like they did 15 years ago with the russians

  • the governemnt didnt make them look bad - islamics did that themselves. this is one thing you yanks cant get in your head - this has been going on long before 9/11 mate. the us governemtn could tie their own shoe laces so how do you reckon they can pull off this cloak and dagger shit? it aint them - this is nwo manipulating both sides - but the lamics are buying it big time - that makes them very dangerous.

  • well, i am guessing your not from the USA so u didnt see all the bullshit nationalistic propaganda after 9/11

sure, there were muslim extremists before 9/11, but , they did not do 9/11

  • yes they did, why are americans so america centric???? other cultures and countries have issues too, not just the yanks. the fact is that the arabs DID strike, the fact is that NWO members within the US government facilitated its fianl execution - 9/11 would have happened with or without the us government - the government took advantagew of a situation that WAS going to happen. no i saw the bullshit propaganda after 7/7 - 9/11 wasnt the only attack - madrid, bali etc etc.

    its the NWO end of.

  • yes i know of 7/7

and isnt it weird that in london they were conducting a "drill" of a bomb placed on the trains at the exact same time and same day...hmm, just something to think about

  • Every country has problems; today they are global so it is easy to blame each assasination on nwo conspiracy. They could be true but every and I mean every odd death even in obscure countries have conspiratorial rumors all about.

Do the wealthy see their opportunity with radicals? Or do the radicals find opportunity with the wealthy?

who is playing who and who shall survive in the end? Utopia is what they both fight for, yet only distopias exist.

    religion complacency distraction our times.

  • SO THEY SAY - However had you worked anywhere near underground operations you would know this is a fairly regular affair at all stations - conspiracy is there if you want to find it, but in reality the uk government cant run the NHS (free HEALTH SERVICE for those of you who dont know)so how can they orchestrate complex conspiracies like this? head in the clouds - the lamics are at it and need slapped down like the bad little dogs they are.

  • yes they do :D

  • THUMBS UP

  • We're America-centric because, well, we live in America, genius.

  • the atomic bomb was a desperation weapon, which started the production and advancement of nuclear weapons, we should of stopped after we saw the horrors of hiroshima and nagasauki, but the other countries developed the technology to make nuclear weapons, so we felt we had to make them to, because we were scared that the same horror of hiroshima and nagasauki could happen to us, so we madethem to protect us. If only dipolomacy could repace warfare all together, then we would like in a better worl

  • War is hell. War sucks. However, the ideal of "civilized" warfare ended with the American Revolutionary War. Does that make us, citizens of the United States, animals, and therefore responsible for all of the ensuing conflicts of the world? The ideal of nuclear weapons is deterrence, plain and simple. I don't like them any more than the next man, but it is what it is.

  • there is no justification in using nuclear weponry on civilians.

i understand that it had to be done, and that it saved millions of lives, but that doesnt make it right.

if i kill a billion people to save a trillion, is that acceptable? maybe it was the best thing to do, but still, i killed a billion people, and that is not right.

  • It is not acceptable. If you are controlling a train, and there are five people on the track, would you let it hit them, or an unsespecting person.

  • The US was fully justified using the A bomb on Japan, it's war, the japanese didnt exactly play ball with any of the treaties they signed or when they started marching people to death and then humiliated and starved prisoners (military and civilian) in their camps.

  • I would love to see you make that argument to an American soldier who was required to serve in the Pacific theatre.

  • Ever saw the projected U.S. and Japanese casualties for operation Downfall?

  • Your argument supposes that Operation Downfall would have been the only viable alternative.

  • are you serious? And you talk about the 'adult world' wtf man you need a reality check. Politics is politics; period. And if you think there are two kinds then you need to do a little bit of growing up and face what is and has happened the last 5000 years.

BTW Many many more people died of conventional bombings in Japan than were killed in the nuclear attacks and fallout.

  • You are right episteme240. Napalm bombs caused bigger disaster than the nuclear bombs in Hirosima and Nagasaki, because 10-20 cities were burnt because of them.

And then it was the evil Germans and Japanese who commited holocausts. America brought this to a new age... Napalm and nuclear holocaust.

I don't mean if the Russians or Germans or Japanese had invented the nuclear bomb first, would they not use it.

  • yeah right... all regards to Japanes and Germand deaths but they were NOT 6.000.000 lives.

War's hell, no side is wrong or right.

  • Once they attacked Pearl Harbor unprovoked, they open the door to any and all types of retaliation. Its war, the object is to utterly destroy the other side, as appauling as that is . End of story

  • I've read plenty and considering that you were the one refuting that Japan was exploring creating nuclear weaponry around the same time we were doesn't speak to highly of your literary skills but I digress. I personally find it appauling that you excuse blatant civilan deaths by the Japanese in conquest over the use of atomic weapons as a strategic option during a war. Keep in mind the Japanese slaughtered thousands of Civs too and if you don't believe me maybe there is a book you can read.

  • Actually the record of the Japanese miltary during WWII justifies the actions of using these weapons. The discovery that they were working on their own only cements that fact that maybe in your narrow world view you can't fathom that others would have used them if they had them before the US. And you want to talk about crimes against humanity lets see your bleeding heart for Baatan or Nanking.

  • Well then obviously you don't know what you are talking about. The History channel exposed the Japanese Atomic Program on both US and British television and it is throughly discussed online as well. That and there was no brink of surrender the Japanse military wanted to continue to fight thus ignoring Potsdam and the German's Terms for Surrender which is one of many reasons the bomb was dropped, despite any veteran commander's objections.

  • If that is true they why did they not surrender and spare themselves this obscene destruction? They knew we had the bomb. They had all the knowledge the Germans had about it, hell, they were even building their own. They have alot to do with why those bombs were used and though terrible, they were the ones that allowed that hell so you condemn them not the US.

  • Right. The nuclear weapons we used on Japan were a mercy compared to what would have happened had we allowed the Japanese to continue the war. The plan was to destroy all transportation infrastructure so that we could starve them out. The Japanese were already starving to death, at the end of the war the average civilian was only getting 1700 calories a day, and the government instituted a program to collect acorns for food!

  • It's terrible to think that this really happened 2 times in 1945...Never Forget Hiroshima and Nagasaki...

  • heartbreaking

  • Omg @ the girl...

  • Dude!!....WOW!!!

    Thats so horrible!

  • god

  • It aired a couple of weeks ago on True Movies channel.

  • When did it air in the UK? We didn't get to see "Threads" until several years later, and even then, it was aired only twice on public television.

  • This aired here (UK) around 84 or 85. I remember seeing it and being scared shitless by it.

Thanks for taking the time to post all these parts.

  • most of us dont live in the united states - genius, please enjoy your martial law

  • The comment was, "Why are Americans so America-centric"; "us" (being anyone who are not American) did not enter into the equation so my comment was perfectly apt.

    Genius....

  • Oh, and by the way; the number of American people who have viewed these videos outnumbers the amount of British people by a ratio of approximately 13:1. So yes, you ignorant ass, most of us DO indeed live in the United States. We will enjoy our "martial law", while you continue to enjoy your fantasy that the UK is some perfect, flawless haven. Hate to ruin the illusion, but such a place does not exist; the leaders of the US and the UK are equally full of shit.

  • you aint wrong there!

  • well said!

  • I don't eat at McDonald's and I don't drink Coke. You're blaming every American for every silly American trend, which is short-sighted and presumptuous. Before you start pointing fingers about cultural invasion, think about "American Idol" and other shows of its like; they are based upon British shows. The culture of the UK and the US have much more in common than you may like to admit.

  • Well what d'you expect? As much as the Americans like to make fun of the British and vice versa, basically all of the Americans are just decendants of British Colonists so ofc they have more in common than expected

  • Of course we do. Most English speaking nations do. In fact, studies show that, as progressive as the US likes to tout itself, at the core our culture is still very steeped in British tradition. Maybe that's why Australians, Brits and Americans bicker so much; it's almost like sibling rivalry.

  • I might believe that you didn't eat at McDonald's or drink coke for a certain period of time, but I don't believe that you NEVER ate there or drank it, do I?

  • And I don't really CARE that you don't believe me, do I?

Your jab would have impact if my statement had indeed been "have never eaten McDonald's or drank Coke"; my statement was "I don't," indicating present tense; I have not touched either in almost a decade.

  • ...basically all of the Americans are just decendants of British Colonists?

You have no clue do you?

  • Maybe 150 years ago. But now I wouldn't say most "Americans" are descendants of British colonists. Heck, soon more than half of all American citizens will have descended from non Northern European immigrants.

  • that is completely tru, funny thing is you got the old thumbs down so either the truth hurts to americans or the british resent the comparison (im guessing ill also recieve the thumbs down lol)

  • @K1ll3R4LYF3 Speak for yourself, sir! I am French, Scottish, and German.

  • @K1ll3R4LYF3 No, the original colonists of america are of British decent for the most part. Through the centuries, though, we had alot of immigration from across the world, so i would view america as a half-brother of england. we aren't all descended from you, but we share alot of customs and traditions.

  • Those arent invasions... McDonald's and Coke do not FORCE other countries to open franchises...they are invited there by the various governments. And if you think America doesnt have its share of foreign companies (many from the UK) operating within it's borders, than you, sir, are extremely ignorant.

  • well said amigo!

  • When this originally aired in the UK, I didn't know any of these actors. Upon viewing again - over a decade later - it was kind of shocking to see it was Steve Guttenberg, having known him for comedy roles. Great performances from both he and Jason Robards (RIP).
