@tomekkobialka I understood what you meant by "you never finishing learning anything in life." What I meant was I had finished learning to the piece (the notes) right before I watched this video and now I can perform it in January.
@daytonmlivingston But have you mastered the piece yet to 150%? (remember that however much you learn at home, you will always perform 50% worse on the day ;))
@tomekkobialka ... so then hes performing 75%, check your math ;) and i think i managed to finish learning to walk, use the toilet and beeing a smartypants on youtube quite well. althought i might de-learn it in like 50 years; doesnt change the fact i did it ;)
@tomekkobialka shit man, don't be so pedantic... the guy managed to learn the piece 3 weeks some hours and 5 minutes ago and you cut him his wings before flying... and the day you play you perform exactly as you have practiced if you control your nerves... the prob is nerves and not having any memory lapsus... when you start, it's all over, you must be one with the music, or else you've lost it... there is only you and the piano... and then you perform beautifully
@alejandrothefader "when you start, it's all over, you must be one with the music, or else you've lost it..." that's why people get nervous! ;) "IF you control your nerves"...that makes me even more nervous. :/
Anyway, I didn't mean to cut the person's wings, I appreciate that s/he put a lot of time and effort to be able to play such a difficult piece...but I was just quoting Hamelin. ;)
@tomekkobialka thinking too much about music when im the one playing is tiring and pointless, i go by what i consider good for whatever situation im playing so i don't overthink things
when playing for people, i don't have any prob, those who understand will know if you have done your work and you re on a bad day! you play for them
the untrainded ear will just like it wether you play 100% or 75%... when you play for juries etc, you think you re at home playing and focus your stare at the piano
@BoringGreenDinosaur How is this a bad thing? lol I mean, yeah, it's difficult and will take a lot of work but, just think of the adrenaline rush you'll have when performing this live at your recital. It'll be all so worth it.
@llllShArPllll Because Schubert's music was too sloppish and soft for Chopin to be impressed, Chopin shows his skills by playing this etude in Impromptu style.
I dont appreciate music

Why do my hands have to be so small? I want to play the octave etude.

Cziffra does a great job of conveying emotion in this technically demanding piece. This has to be one of my favorite Chopin études. Brava!

ooh cziffra did his "megaoctave" chord at the end where he hits grace notes at the lowest part of the piano! I love it when he does that on improv!
