@pesiuber you know the schools laptops are typically slower than anything because they have all the bull crap software and they have to sign into a server and they have scripts that need to load on boot and it just completely renders all the thinkpad's speed useless
@r2yi IBM has sold Think brand to Lenovo in 2005.... i think you are a bit late to the party. Anyway 90% of the laptops used in the world is produced in China, so whether or IBM owns it or not, is not going to change the fact that it will have the made in china sticker on it.
If you read carefully I stated for the amount of people Australia has the amount of violence is very low..You need to stop getting sucked into the newspapers rubbish.
Thank you for your review! I'm deciding between Thinkpad and Inspiron. I saw some of the T400 reviews with basically said that the palmrest and keyboard is mushy. Good to hear the new models are more rigid.
There were some issues with the first batches of T400/T500. However, lenovo worked to improve the quality on the thinkpad line. For me, the thinkpads offer tremendous value for money, and I while there are still some minor issues here and there, I do not share what those ultra radical geeks say about they feel flimsy and poorly finished.
Again, if you don't like thinkpads, do not buy'em, and look elsewhere. But do the maths, and you get top notch hardware and good build quality at a good price
I always found the keyboard light to be superfluous. The light from the monitor is bright enough to illuminate the keyboard. Plus, all the pros touch type anyway :)
Thank you for the review! You addressed many of the concerns for me in making my decision on the thinkpad notebook. I have a question though, how thick is the T500 at its thickest point?
Thanks for this, it makes me go for a T500 after all. Have been researching which new laptop to buy for a week now, hard to pick the right one. Just wondering which screen you picked for your T500 shown here.

i brought a t400 few months back,
my friends didn't want my buying a think pad because, well lets face it, it doesn't look much different that the box it came in.
but now I'm glad i brought it.

Lenovo offers these options:
-WXGA TFT, w/ CCFL Backlight
-WXGA TFT, w/ LED Backlight [add $20.00]
-WSXGA+ TFT, w/ CCFL Backlight [add $75.00]

I have ZERO experience with a T400. I'd base my decision off of size/features/price.
Cowbell123 2 years ago
depends on if you want a little bigger screen
