Fantastic grouping J.D. The NES pattern is a bit different due to the sausage always taking horizontal routes and not going directly up the ladder after you. I noticed that the first level on NES throws six enemies at you and the arcade, mame version starts with less. Loved this game as a kid and can't stop coming back to it. Staying Power!
I was playing this game recently in a arcade and I really couldn't get very far but it looks really fun, I think I'll try to get farther next time I go. Its really fun.
Pure $%^%#$^ genuis!!!! It's amazing what we figure out as kids back in the day!!! The Egg and Sauages NEVER deviated from their specific pattern!! But I laughed my azz off when after awhile they started booking like hell after you cause you kept sending them to the bottom!!! LMAO!!!
I used to play this game in the arcades 25 years ago. It was always my favorite. The hardest screen was always #5 in the upper levels, 6-5 was the toughest. I'd lose 15 men on that screen; if you didn't have any salt it couldn't be done.
One bit of strategy I remember from the game was never waste salt. Salts are more valuable than lives.
Hrm...I this is exactly the kind of strategy that I have been toying with the last few days. I had never played this game until recently and there is more to it than meets the eye, like many classic arcade games.
Genius! As a kid I always imagined those sausages and eggs coming up from the bottom of the screen so rageful after being taken for a ride. The sausages crack me up!
even back then, pickles are a staple ingredient in virtually all hamburgers sold by wendy's burger king, mcdonalds and many others... eggs..... only the Red Robin Royale burger has an over-hard on top of it.
Hot dogs of course, have no place in burgers. Their the only ones who are justified to be attacking.
I didn't even think Red Robin has been invented as a chain yet by the time this game was released. We had Checkers, Burger King, Burger Chef, Hardees, Wendy's, Sonic, ... and that's about it. Oh, McDonalds too.
Pickles, while a staple, would often be thrown off to the side with disgust. I never saw anyone just calmly remove his pickles, they always had to fling them. I think the pickles have every right to be a little miffed. But they should be mad at the people who pick them off and not the chef. I think they're just disgruntled and upset that the chef never stands up for them.
Does the pattern work for boards similar to board 1 that come later in the game when there's 6 enemies instead of 4?

I tried the pattern, but after I have them grouped they always separate.
eggertstwart 7 months ago
@eggertstwart Sometimes you get different results using same patterns. Throwing the pepper at the right time is essential.

Do you always do the first level exactly this way?

You can always control where the bad guys go with this game-one of the very few to give that control...

The pickles, eggs, and hotdogs are jealous of him because they're not part of the burgers.
