@NewRachmaninoff Nice analysis! I couldn't have said it better myself. Unfortunately I can no more listen to it on Youtube due to GEMA. From what I remember Ovchinnikov's playing adds a lot to the drama by NOT over-romanticising/blurring. I think Liszt himself would have liked it, at least the later Liszt (though I do like the 12GEs etc.)...?
