Actually you could build a small builiding beside the water, no torches.

So monsters will spawn inside the building and the only way out is the water then they all die !

Minecraft should have an ass realm. You'd have to collect a lot of ass to build a rocket and travel there. Notch would have to put in a new element like ass and you could power it by ass from lightning or a hydroelectric ass. The minerals on the ass would have to be really special though and carry a huge ass on the Minecraft earth. If anyone else thinks this is a good idea thumbs up your ass and copy and paste it to my ass.

I think to make this just a bit better you could enclose this in a pitch black house so there is a higher chance of getting mobs in the trap so you can get your drops such as gunpowder, bones, string, and feathers. Of course this wont work for sheep, chickens, and cows though.

@blackopspro283 firstly, get toomanyitems for [version of minecraft] and install on ur computer in the minecraft.jar (look it up)

secondly, get a few mob spawners from the toomanyitems sidebar in your inventory.

thirdly, install, i think, MobGUI or somethingGUI and install in the minecraft.jar so that when you right-click on the mob spawner, you get to choose what mob spawns.

finally, set it up whereever you want on the mob trap, set what type of mob, and presto! your done!

In the collector, you should make another water flow of only 1 broad across the other 9. Then all the loot will come in like 2 or 3 blocks instead of 9.

@casperminecraft yeah it should, I've seen people do it before. They make huge, usually around 50x50 rooms and make water ways all around it and mass murder tons of mobs. they turn out around 2000 loot items an hour.

@loxaedward626 I make a large dark room at the end of the trap. It makes monsters spawn like mad! And they only have 2 options. they can either walk into your trap, or despawn. They mostly walk into it, though :)

To get them to fall in just put a monster spawner right outside the trap, got like 20 pigs dead within moments :D (TooManyItems Mod and get the spawner)

i found out that in beta, the loot would go up first then down. so the lava would destroy it before you can get it, i made a huge one, now i regret it. i made it into a drowning trap wich will get u all the items.

@johnchenowns Whats possibly happening is the mobs are going too far into the lava and the items they drop are burning when they fall into the lava. I had that problem, but i resolved it by making the overhang (the protective part on the top of the lava) one block longer. that stops the mobs from being pushed too far into the lava. I hope that made sense it was kinda hard to explain :P
