Austin is good, but at the moment he is not 'wow'...and he IS emulating his late uncle. C'mon, he is even wearing flood pants like him! Michael made such an impact because he was unique and thought out of the box. Yes, he was influenced by other artists, but you can't say he didn't have his own style in appearance, dance and vocals. Austin isn't quite there yet but these are early days.

I think titos sons looked more like Austin or Austin looked more like them during their younger 3T stage. Idk maybe it's just some of their features in their genes that stand out more in each of them.
Well, damn. Austin knows how to hold someone's attention. He may be a bit green on the stage but no one pops out of the box and hops up on the stage like they've been doing this 30 years. He will improve and perfect as time goes on. If you know his family you'll know that they go back and quickly improve :D

I saw some MJ, Motown and a lil James Brown in those moves. He is a fantastic dancer. He could out dance some of the lame artists today whose careers live on autotune and minimal dancing. Austin has everything, you go boy!

@leopardsathle Yeah I definitely agree with you, especially about the James Brown/MJ influences (but we all know that). All of those singers have a long line of performances with better dance moves, but they didn't learn all of that stuff overnight. For a first televised performance this was pretty good imo. Once he gets used to the whole singing while performing factor, and discovers an incomparable style of dancing, a lane of his own will be created next to the ones you've mentioned.
@DavidConcerto Austin needs to go back to the drawing board and start over this performance was not his best and "if" you are going to represent a Famous Musical Family then you should at least have a polished performance .... and this was not it!!!
@mystrokeyboardist Nobody's first performance is polished, nor their best. Even Mike had trouble adapting to performing live as a solo act. As much as we don't like to admit it, all MJ used to do was sing (a lot of times, lip-sync) and lightly dance around until he felt comfortable enough to let go. Compare that to this and Austin did pretty damn good in this video. All I can really say is just give him some time to better his craft and he'll have it down pat.

I believe that Austin is inspired by many artists.
Just because he grew up as a Jackson family & doesn't mean he is trying to be like any of them, but reflection of heritage is always unavoidable.
He's just trying to be himself.
Even during interviews, the interviewers usually mention his family. To which he sometimes says something along the lines of... "They have amazing accomplishments, but that's their accomplishments. Those aren't mine. I'm just a kid who loves playing soul music."

Austin had some nerves in the beginning but for a first time performance, it was great and i loved it. This kid has a future in the business and will most likely be a central figure of music for the next decade (or more hopefully)

Austin is good, but at the moment he is not 'wow'...and he IS emulating his late uncle. C'mon, he is even wearing flood pants like him! Michael made such an impact because he was unique and thought out of the box. Yes, he was influenced by other artists, but you can't say he didn't have his own style in appearance, dance and vocals. Austin isn't quite there yet but these are early days.

Well, damn. Austin knows how to hold someone's attention. He may be a bit green on the stage but no one pops out of the box and hops up on the stage like they've been doing this 30 years. He will improve and perfect as time goes on. If you know his family you'll know that they go back and quickly improve :D
I hope he gets enough support so we have a chance to see him grow as a true and unique artist who wont always be compared to other family members.

@leopardsathle Yeah I definitely agree with you, especially about the James Brown/MJ influences (but we all know that). All of those singers have a long line of performances with better dance moves, but they didn't learn all of that stuff overnight. For a first televised performance this was pretty good imo. Once he gets used to the whole singing while performing factor, and discovers an incomparable style of dancing, a lane of his own will be created next to the ones you've mentioned.

@mystrokeyboardist Nobody's first performance is polished, nor their best. Even Mike had trouble adapting to performing live as a solo act. As much as we don't like to admit it, all MJ used to do was sing (a lot of times, lip-sync) and lightly dance around until he felt comfortable enough to let go. Compare that to this and Austin did pretty damn good in this video. All I can really say is just give him some time to better his craft and he'll have it down pat.

I believe that Austin is inspired by many artists.
Just because he grew up as a Jackson family & doesn't mean he is trying to be like any of them, but reflection of heritage is always unavoidable.
He's just trying to be himself.
Even during interviews, the interviewers usually mention his family. To which he sometimes says something along the lines of... "They have amazing accomplishments, but that's their accomplishments. Those aren't mine. I'm just a kid who loves playing soul music."

He doesn't have much control of his voice; it's ALL over the map. As for dancing, he should stick to singing. He's desperately trying to dance like Jackson and James Brown and failing at both. And are his 'high waters' an homage to Michael? At least wear glittering socks!!!
