In 85 there shoulda been a Funk Aid featuring, Ohio Players, Heatwave, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Billy Preston, War, the Isleys, the Jacksons, and Chaka Khan+Rufus, all this in the least. Imagine how awesome that woulda been
@Godslove66 also include Parliament/Funkadelic, Bootsy's Rubber Band, Prince, The Time, Rick James, Bar-Kays, Brothers Johnson....we would have been there for a week with all these bands LOL
!980 Triumph The Ohio Players were the first black band to sell three Platinum albums in a row. You need to listen to how diverse a band they were in songs like "Sweet Sticky Thing", "Fopp", "I want to be Free", "OHIO", "Body Vibes", Sleep Walking", "Honey", "Angel", "Fire" "Precious Love" & "Skin Tight" just to mention a few. Peace
Sugarfoot looks like a black bantam rooster up there, with the kewlest afro in history. It is a towering epistle of the elliptical, eschewing the spheroid coifs of peers, complete with a thatched forelock draped raffishly over his left eye. He'd look better with his usual double-necked guitar, the one he made his bones with. It's his signature.
I pretty much dislike almost everything the Ohio Players have recorded, but this is a masterpiece. I don't know all their music but everything I have heard is corny, but this is awesome!!
there are two screams in this song. one is a scream on a rollercoaster. and the other second famous scream may be Ester Cordet becuase when she was doing the photo shoot the honey stuck to her legs to the floor, she lift up and her skin ripped off and thats why she screamed
ok my dad told me the story behind this song... and dont tell me its not true bcuz u can look back in the newspapers- yes, it was in there. While recording this song, in the studio, one of the Ohio player's friends, a woman, was in the waiting room... and a guy came in n murdered her... i think he said it was one of her old boyfriends... he got jealous or something.. but the mic was so sensitive that it caught that, and they did not know so until the song was released...
@heyimsilverclaw Thanks for the story. Notice the model in the cover never gave an interview to varify this as to clear the rumor. I totally believe the story because there's no way Billy made that screachy screamy sound.
and u r an idiot! so whats the difference how could they be murderers......get ur facts str8 b4 u go spreading rumors like that....go get the bodies out of ur garage that u have nibbling on 4 the past 3 months
Ester Cordet is not dead! OMG people should read actual history before posting.
wonder if that is why it was posted under urban LEGENDS?
By the way Elvis is alive. he lives on an island with Jim Morrison, Jimmy Hendricks and Janis Joplin. the islands name if you must know..... Atlantis.
I am pretty sure someone (Maybe a big screechy voiced woman) was killed in the studio on a roller coaster while syncing the music. I am sure that is why there are so few accidents in the recording industry to this day.
ight nobody was killed. In a recording, everyone goes in and recordes their part of the song. Later, after all the parts are done, they are synced. Even then, there are 2 sceams. So were two people killed? And think about it, ROLLERCOASTER... What do people do on Rollercoasters? Think about it...
urban legend surrounded the song "Love Rollercoaster" that the girl on the album cover was attacked or killed near the studio and her screams are what we hear on the song. this was a hoax; the scream was actually that of keyboardist Billy Beck
Honey is the third Mercury album by The Ohio Players, released in 1975. Like previous albums, Honey is known for its very sexy cover photo. In this case, the model was Playboy magazine's October 1974 Playmate of the Month, Ester Cordet.

if he says it has to do with death maybe he means the horrible tanning beds death scene of the Final Destination 3 movie. the victims in this scene listen to this song before they get totally scorched....
you guys do realise that in a studio, when recording, you DO actually have the ability to tweak the song and make sure its alright. there would be no reason to keep the scream of a woman dying, even if that was indeed the case (i doubt it was)
what he meant by that was while the band was recording this song the bands manager killed his wife. he thought the room he was in was sound proof but it wasnt and you can hear her screaming for her life in a portion of the song. its really eerie. brings chills up my spine each time i hear it.
Snoopdogg444: So I just Googled "The Urban Legend" and you are correct Casey Kaseem reported it first and "The Ohio Players" took a code of silence to sell records. They did not start the rumor... but it dosen't make it right.....
DUDE WHENEVER THEY RECORDED THIS SONG FOR THE CD THE WOMEN ON THE ALBUM WAS MURDERED BY THE BAND MANAGER ITZ FREEKIN FREEKY MAN but its a urban legend
yeah alot of people think that's true but i happen to know the truth...
the sound is from from the disc jokey when he is scratching the disc in certain way
the urban legend of the murder was declared fake when Jimmy Williams came foward and said they just made up the rumor because they wanted to sell records
I have to dance to this song for my romeo and juliet play. its a modern version. i have to use this song when we have a dance off between montages vs. capulets.
Yeah...but "SoujaBoy" has nowhere near the talent that the Ohio Players do. The kid is just like every other rap "artist" (if you want to call it that). He samples songs from other people..comes up some bullshit lyrics..and there you go a supposed unbelieveable wonder. You don't see any true musician in rap. Most of it's sampling and electronics. Ohio Players and others like them were 100% artists...with drums, percussion, horns, etc. making the great sounds they did. Long live FUNK bitches!
Dr. Dre doesn't sample no more, is all instruments in his beats, and Mos Def is also a real musician, but yeah, there aren't much real musicians in hip hop, and I love hip hop. I forgot The Roots.
No scream I no odd I think it's only in the album which is not live
