2) Behind the scenes, he actually knew the device was on it, but the producer forced him to electrocute himself for ratings. So yeah, he was actually, and rightfully, pretty pissed.

@bananian Look in to stun guns and Taser products. Under a certain amperage, electric shock has no real risk of inducing cardiac arrest or any other permanent damage.

In the case of a device like the one they used, the voltage is very high, which makes it painful, but the amperage is extremely low making the shock non-damaging.

I think the Wikipedia article even mentions that information right after the line about that mans death. The Vancouver incident was an excessive use of force, granted the weapon does not have a programmed limit to the number of shocks but the officer was trained on what would happen.

Anyway, the point is: high volts @ very low amps = extremely low damage potential.
