I remember being shown this video in Korea for NBC training in 99. At the end of the video, the narrator would announce "and the goat lived" and the video would cut off. Actually, VX was discovered by accident by a farmer making pesticides. It was not intentional nor was it intentionally made as a weapon. It was just a bad mix that had some peculiar effects on the idiot chemist, which raised dome eyebrows with the top brass. Do your homework before commenting, trolls. I've used this argument to people before on animal experiments, BUT its not always true. While animals ARE different, VX seems to cause the same effects on the sheep as humans and has the same working antidote.

@bootstraspbill Gets worse, VX is less effective then the newer agents. They last 8-12months, very difficult to destroy due to their high molecular stability. Cling to everything being a fine powder. In engines, clothes, shoes. 300micrograms is lethal over 2x as toxic as VX. drop these agents on somewhere and it's pretty much uninhabitable for really 5 years. mean while every living thing it touches dies and it blows everywhere killing. science has no emotion or wrong/right.

Nerve agent exposure is fatal due to a shutdown of the body's nervous system and also of the individual muscles controlling them. Respiratory and cardiac failure are the causes of death. However, it is plausible that bones could break due to the violent muscle spasms.

@soldiermedic7694 If you want to be really accurate, the nervous system and muscles are not so much "shut down" as they are super stimulated. It's a little more akin to resting a brick on a car's accelerator. It's fatal because muscles like the thoracic diaphragm are stuck in constant contraction (i.e. paralysed), and the person asphyxiates, for example.
