Erm..... every one of those numbers you quoted is between three and four whole decades worth of warming at the predicted rate of 0.2°C/decade, you absolute plonker. Chuff chuff chuff WHOOO WHOOOO. Here come the clue train, and the next stop is lucky old you - Look up what zero is. Fuck me mate. Have a word with youself. Seriously. Learn to count. It's a useful skill for not making a complete knob of yourself.
Prof. Plimer's new book Heaven & Earth, Global Warming the Missing Science is exceptional. He lists every argument for anthropogenic climate change and comprehensively refutes them. So the world will not end next Tuesday unless we destroy our economies today.
@TheLeadster It is exceptional for an academic to write a book with errors, unsubstantiated assertions, misinformation and outright lies and fraud on almost every page. I guess the guy wants to keep making $400,000/year from his mining interests.
So are you suggesting we should ignore the opinion of a working geologist because he is a ...... working geologist? Getting paid by mining companies for his geology knowledge? Is that what you are suggesting! With absolute and resolute discip[line I won't mention Al Gore's $ billion.
Errors "on almost every page" eh? Right, that's a testable claim. List for your breathless audience every mistake Prof. Plimer wrote from pages 150 to 160. I have his book in front of me, waiting..... waiting...
Hey Plimer, do you still stand by your claim that volcanoes produce more CO2 than humans? Because the USGS (whom you cite in your book) say that's crap. Do you still stand by your claim that the planet that global temperatures have cooled since 1998?
Of course he still stands by it, because as he has said in other interviews, he uses measurements from the rocks around these underwater volcanoes. To be honest, I'm not sure what the USGS uses, but it seems like a big task if they are measuring the actual CO2 released from over 22k underwater volcanoes as well as the terrestrial ones. Rocks may give a slightly historical record, but it's pretty close. I don't agree with everything he says, but at least he looks deep and questions these things.
He burbled something about that in the debate on lateline, but he didn't give much detail. Interesting that these underwater volcanoes have all started popping off in the last 170 years, according to the ice core and atmospheric observatory data. How come the ice cores also show an isotopic change in the CO2 content in the atmosphere, a shift towards the sort of Carbon-14 balance that you get from burning fossil fuels?
Not denying that there has been a change, pretty obvious we are pumping the shit out there at a huge rate. I don't think Plimer can deny that one. Whether the climate would be changing anyway? I would say probably, would it happen this quick? Maybe not. Are we ready for it either way? No way! Will we ever be ready for it with a carbon tax? No! Do we need to reduce emissions of all pollutants? Yes! Especially the ones that harm humans more than CO2!
However, we also need a plan to adapt to change whatever it may be. The coral in the barrier reef is already starting to adapt by absorbing different types of bacteria that help it cope, yet humans are doing nothing, happy to build right up to the beach. Mind you, if the sea levels go back down 6m or so after global warming on the next phase of climate change, these houses won't have prime spot. If it goes up 2m as in the past, then we are in trouble. This doesn't change if man made or not.
People need to listen to Prof. Plimer - I think he's spot on. Global warming is just a tax swindle. It would happen regardless is man were on the planet or not - Earth is a dynamic system; similar to other planets in our solar system. Simple as that.
So you're one of these labour lefy greenie do-gooder blinkered misguided global warming believers then? ;-) Coldest winter in the UK for many years.... Yeah - global warming, of course. Get a life!! And face up to reality.
You seem prompt to pigeon-hole those who hold your unsupported contentions in low esteem. This winter may well be the coldest one in the UK of the past ten years; wait for it to end before asserting this, though. Moreover, it might just be a "black swan", an outlier. Although I am no statistician, I do not think it is a signature of a continuing downward trend in temperature.
Other than that, great thanks for your concern about my social well-being.
You are aware, aren't you, that temperature varies from point to point around the planet? You can't just selectively pick one point on the planet, e.g, the uk, and decide to global temperatures from there.
You've hit the nail on the head. Earth, being a dynamic system has changing climate due to many factors, least of which are caused by man. Anyhow - cold in UK = hot somewhere else; all a balancing act. I see though the politicians are already using the BBC to counteract lack of belief in global warming since the UK big winter started (which was predicted less than 1 year ago to be 'mild'). If they didn't see that coming, what hope have we got for long term climate forecasts?!!!
I think we need to listen to plimer, but I do believe governments are acting on what they believe is the right solution, I don't agree with it, but they are in a tough spt with no scientific training and a lot of opinions and the desire to stay in power. I think we need to be spending money in the right way (preperation AND mitigation), and we need to make the small common sense decisions that will make the difference in the long run. i.e. Hemp instead of cotton! Try these things before a tax!
if you can do anything cleverer than use that sort of language -- why bother saying anything-- climate change arguments can only be won by intelligence -- unfortunately if you have any you are not using it.

"- I think he's spot on. Global warming is just a tax swindle."
Remarkable argument.
"- Earth is a dynamic system."
True, but every dynamic system can be subject to imbalances, possibly leading to irremediable unstability.
"- Simple as that."
You're an idiot.
