I'm not even discussing negative aspects of deregulation Coulter stated that it started under Reagan. Look up the Airline Deregulation Act and the trucking and other transpo. dereg. policies under Carter. As to Reagan's tax hike, it's the Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 1982. It was Bob Dole's plan, but the Reagan administration implemented regardless. It's considered to be the biggest tax increase in U.S. history.

I don't know what you're talking about as far as Reagan not having a favorable legislature. The Republicans had the Senate majority 7 of Reagan's 8 years as President. Sure, the Dems had the house, but the Reagan years are notorious for being a strong executive administration. Look at the Counterinsurgency activity in Latin America as one example.
