Church is for followers of Christ, not for unbelievers. Todd is spot on. Church is the gathering of the bride of Christ for a Holy Worship of our sovereign Lord and edification of its members. It should NEVER be geared to attract people to come. God's Word and the teaching of HIS Word should be the attraction. KJWord has a good point, the gathering of people today in what some call the Church is really for unbelievers wanting to feel good about themselves and life - not the worship of Christ.

They are doing with church these days what they have always been doing. Church has always been a performance. Just like all good fiction is, church is just a show for the masses... in this case, they don't charge for entrance.... They just ask for donations oct tithes.

Jesus Christ is the ONLY hope of life eternal, and the ONLY reason life has meaning. Any other view of life is completely self serving which sad, empty and lonely. And I'm sorry you can not see this.

I can not see this. I've seen too many non-Christians living fulfilling, selfless lives to accept your claim as true. Myself being one of them. :)

I understand you wanting to help though, and I appreciate that you want the best for everybody. But everybody is different and are fulfilled in different ways.

There you go, being mean again. I understand that you want to help jwissick find happiness and peace, but I believe you should do so in a more loving manor. Calling a friend who is depressed a "sad and pathetic individual," for example, is only going to escalate the problem. :)

@ddrninjette well they are a professing believer(you can tell by the screenname) and I just pointed out that by calling the church bad, we do a discredit to Jesus Christ since the church is his very body where the Holy Spirit dwells.The church is not perfect, but is progressing towards perfection in the likeness of Her Heavenly Husbandman.Every true believer within the church has a new heart, regenerated by God's spirit and is a part-taker in Christ's nature-a very reflection of God himself.
