  • I like this. Is the guitar in standard tuning or open tuning? I'vealways enjoyed the way it sounds.

  • where is the lesson??

  • @anythingfunnyful study the song tabs and learn the parts, then use this lesson to learn to play along to. this is the best version I have seen yet.

  • @anythingfunnyful

There is no lessin needet: You have eyes, you have fingers, you have a guitar... *gg*

    Greetings from Germany..

  • @gitarrissimus you are a fucking faggot : ) fuck germany. USA all damn day

  • @anythingfunnyful

oh, very nice, I did not know that you are over there so fuckin adorable *gg*

  • the vocals are horrifying, please hold the vocals.

  • Thank-you

  • ITS TO FAST! but i like it ;)

  • this would be better if it didnt have the back ground singing, just the guitar, and maby a bit slower for the ones that cant learn just by looking

  • This is a nice video for learning the chords. If you want to learn the fingerpick technique as played on the original recording, find it at "blackbird guitar lesson philtangerine".

  • You Don't Know How To Do It J Got A Book That Has The Original Notes I'm Gonna Show You How It's Done

  • ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC - I learned the tune on another more detailed video but was having trouble singing it until i landed here. I have it nailed in my repertoire now, brilliant tutorial and THANKS!!

  • This is a decent tutorial in that the chords are correct to the original recording. I've posted to Blackbird vids. The one I did on chords is essentially the same but slower than this one. And I did a separate one on pick/strum technique which is also true to the original, a bit different than how he plays it here (though its also pretty as played here).

  • @philtangerine You can see the ones I did at philtangerine blackbird if you want something slower or want to learn the pick strum technique.

  • wah i wish i could see his fingers

  • @bae123456 check his (more exercises) video in the related videos, shows the shapes and picking pattern slowed down

  • thanks for this awesome tutorial (:

  • This is a great version of the song and it's very easy to see what he's doing. It's not a hard song at all. The real problem here is that all of the metal heads I know can't learn a damn thing without tab, and that's because they take shortcuts in their learning. So you can play very complex things but you also can't play something as easy as this is without having tab and both hands being shown. Boring.

    Great job, OP.

  • Watching Paul himself playing it live in concert on another youtube clip, I still believe he is using open tuning and NOT the way it's shown here

  • @rickyman1952 What video is that? Nothing I've ever seen?

  • Guitar Tabs + This video + constant practice = getting it right in a matter days :D

  • This is the best tutorial for this song that I've ever seen and heard. It is very accurate and is based totally on to the original. Lot of thanks you for this! Grreetings from Germany, gitarrissimus

  • @gitarrissimus the fingerpicking is not accurate at all...

  • @aaxal

I know, but Paul MC Cartneys "one-fingerpicking" was horrible... *gg*

  • @gitarrissimus i don't think so...that is one of the beautiful features of the song

  • Lesson my ass. Get off youtube

  • It ' d have been great if that was a cover, but that ' s not a lesson! we dont even see your other hand...

  • Great lesson, managed to learn it. thanks.

  • That's very good... Iwas in a trouble trying to play this song. I'm not anymore! Thanks.

  • Comment removed

  • I like this version. Any chance you could message me with the tab please?

  • Right hand technique is not true to the original.

I've uploaded a lesson that is as is on White Album.

    Search for Philtangerine.

  • This video is meant for people who can learn by just watching someone's fingers so stop bitching

  • @TheLoneyStoner i can learn how to do it by watching his fingers but im trying to learn it so its helpful if he slows it down

  • @TheLoneyStoner Exactly!

  • @TheLoneyStoner agreed, its not hard to follow at all

  • @TheLoneyStoner yes but you would have to see the strumming fingers for this song

  • This guy has 2 videos of this song. This video is a straight play through the other video is the lesson. Now for a little you tube 101. Above the video is the name of the guy that posted the video, next to his name it says he has 15 videos posted. To the right of that is a button shaped box with downward facing tred marks click that button and you will find the other video.

  • @steve8099 Swagg!!

  • This a great lesson. I already know how to play the guitar, I just want to know how to play this song and I've nailed in minutes.

    People on Youtube are dreamers.

  • @delgriffithification The right hand (picking/strumming), is pretty but not true to the original recording. If you'd like to hear/learn the original style as played on the White Album, I've put a video up. Blackbird Guitar Lesson Right Hand - Beatles McCartney White Album

    Enjoy!

  • @UncleJoey12 Not being mean or anything, but there are guys on here who actually tell you what they're doing, and it couldn't really be much simpler.

If you're going to call your video a lesson, you should actually do some teaching, rather than caring about double-tracking your vocals.

  • thank you so much, this really helped me!

it is such a great song to play :)

  • @UncleJoey12 Well thanks for being so kind anyway :)

  • @UncleJoey12 Well, I can do it that way easily enough. But McCartney plays is differently. He sort of strums with his index finger. I can't get it.

  • @UncleJoey12 I just wanted to see the right hand picking technique ... so this is useless to me.

  • I've been playing guitar for 3 years, and now can play it perfectly :)

  • @Montelonti Good is better than perfect. Remember that.

  • Thanx I learned how to play but didn't learn how to do the break ups this helped and now I'n playing the song easily thx

  • lol, added note...DONT WATCH Sungha Jung play anything, this kid will drive u nuts..guitaristepurock, its a good tutorial and u got a thumbs up from me :)

  • lol, to jamie5678,gibsondanny and all the others who cant learn this piece by just watching his fingers, the video u should watch perhaps is HOW CAN I LEARN GUITAR......this instruction is for those who can play guitar already, i found it easy to follow, but then again i already lnow how to play :P

  • @unknownhoserz dude, id like to point out that i have been playing guitar for seven years, have a grade 8 in guitar... and grade 6 in music theory, i can most certainly learn the piece by ear... its just nice to have someone confirm that your playing it right... the point i was initially making, is that a lesson involves teaching... this has NONE, just a demonstration...

  • Comment removed

  • Great playing and if that's your voice, it's also very good. Very easy lesson to follow with the neck almost stationary and the camera focussed on the left hand work. Being a guitar player I can figure out the right hand easily.

  • Very good overview thanks. The whiners didn't get it but the rest of us did, so thanks, your cover was useful.

  • Perhaps you should labeled the video:

"Intermediate" Guitar Lesson The Beatles Blackbird

This vid is definitely not for those who haven't developed fingerpicking techniques or their ear, but perfect for those who have.

  • You went so fast I couldn't even see what you were doing! U played good but this was absolutely no help to me

  • did someone noticed that the name of the video is "Guitar Lesson The Beatles Blackbird" but he dosoen't teach anything?

    fucking asshole

  • @nicolasfpineda Nice of you to sign your real given and family names at the end.

  • Stop complaining people, it's very usefull to see the position of the fingers, even if he doesn't say anything.

If you have problems to follow, just pause the video, or go to ultimateguitar for a tab.

Play the guitar and just have fun!

  • follow the video with your eyes. this video is not shit at all, just because the guy didnt tell you every fret doesnt mean its not a lesson.. use your ears

  • DID YOU VIEW THE VIDEO OR NOT!!? IF NOT YOU SPEAK FROM IGNORANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thats not so hard to follow. Need some basics on right hand arpeggio though. The left hand finger positions are quite clear.

  • Thank you. Excellent.

  • You didn't teach us ANYTHING .... this video is shit.

  • You and all the others that cant follow this video need to watch his other video where he holds your hand and shows you everything step by step. The second video has the same picture and name with the words More excer added.

  • @steve8099 Shut up asshole.

  • great lesson. peeps need to seek out the tablature/chords and positions online and then follow along. it works.

  • Psychiatry was developed before 1900 in Germany to get rid of people complaining.First use of directed energy weapons is seen in psychiatric literature from 1908,see Psychiatrie->Zur Klinik der Narkolepsie on my homepage. After murdering oponents in ww2,Psychiatry was relaunched in´45 to persecute+silence concentration camp survivors

As a Shrink in a German nuthouse said:

Half the inmates are mad.The other half are secret service agents on training

    Dubbed correctly,they are snitchers

  • You're not showing us SHIT!?! WTF and what's up with the vocals? Some weird black dude?

  • you played really well and sung well too but um... think you forgot to teach us the song

  • Thank you, that helped a lot! :-)

  • Great view of the chord fingerings. Stop whining you &^%$ beginner babies. The vocal over dub is cool because it helps put the changes in context. If you're crying about this lesson, you need to check yourself diaper boy/girl!

  • @ledcurrent your a douche

  • @Sirthirty30 your mom... really?

  • This is for sure a lesson, if you say its not then you are just dumb. L2play guitar

  • Now I can play it, I didn't realize it was that simple....

  • good lesson. best lesson I've seen

  • This guy makes some really complex chords look effortless. His duplication of the originals always seem perfect. Much envy here!

  • Cheesy vocal overdub but otherwise a good video if you are not a beginner.

  • Comment removed

  • to all the people dissing this guy.... this is a lesson. sorry that yall aren't smart enough to match his fingering to yours and look and figure out the chords he's playing. so by commenting saying "this isn't a lesson" your looking like the stupid one.

  • lesson much?!?!

  • Kind of common sense dude, just look at what frets hes playing, and try to make sense out of it.

  • Hey i couldn't quite get that. So u start of with G?

  • This is NOT a lesson. CHEESY singing!

  • he is playing it slow enough t where youcan read his fingers and learn it without tabs.

  • goood guitar bad singing sorry :P but it is a guitar lesson so singing doesnt matter so good job :P

  • @addypharris the singing is from the Blackbirds original track.. Seriously dude, you cant think this is bad?

  • @Kemkex no, no it's not. not even close to paul mccartney.

  • you know in the recording, after he does that big slide, he strums with his thumb?

  • he enjoy the music and forget to teach a guitar

  • like nelson muntz once said "there are at least TWO BIG LIES in that title"

  • I liked this lesson, helped a lot with the timing.

  • @oldbloke135

Me too :P People are seriously all beginner noobs.... it's so easy to see what he's playing :-) i hate having to watch 10 minute lesson videos teaching every fucking note t_t

  • @Kinjutsuu Well not everyone can be freaking super-stars at playing guitar. You were new once too, jerk. I can tell what he's playing, but I've been playing guitar for quite some time. So don't be an asshole just because you think you're Mr. Fantastic Better Than All These "Noobs". Get a life, and leave begginers alone. They are the future of music after all.

  • how do you noobs need tabs hes playing it two feet from your face!!

  • Hooray. Now I know that you can play Blackbird. Now wheres the lesson part?

  • Comment removed

  • @natynatkinz Geeez, did you look for the tabs?? With this guy's video and the tabs you'll get it done, but it will take some effort on your part, or were you expecting absolute comprehension by watching a video once?

  • @natynatkinz yeah lol

  • i liked learning from this better than from tabs or a meticulous explanation, the extra work for me made me have to think about it more and now I will remember the song better. awesome video

  • @crazytalker90 I agree, the first time I saw it, I raged like everyone else, but then determination helped me to nail it or should I say play it?!

  • You're supposed to play along to this if you already know how to play the song.

  • thanks for posting! it's a big help!

  • thanks for posting! it's a big help!

  • and where's the fuck lesson?

  • It's would be easier without the vocals

  • Cool, but where's the lesson mate?

  • I was looking for an actual LESSON

  • Useless people, you can learn to play this song by your own ear, don't you? I find this video very very helpful

  • You're not teaching shit! But you sound great man, keep the good work, lol!

  • Totally not a lesson. You fail at teaching.

  • good playing - but where is the LESSON???????

  • That was very helpful! Thanks! :D

  • Sounds really good man. Keep up the good work.

  • Great job, Thanks.

  • finally that one chord i couldn't get is there. this is a lesson enough. people who think this is not a lesson can go and learn playing guitar first, then post their retarded comments in some retarded forum. this was perfect. 'twood be good to show strumming as there are tons of videos of people doing it all wrong. but you can actually see strumming on paul's performance video here watch?v=RDxfjUEBT9I&feature=related

  • What about the right hand???

This video should be named "watch ME playing Blackbird"... and please, erase the word Lesson!

  • played this for my school talent show, thank you!

  • i didn't finish watching the video, when do you start teaching

  • Nicely done!

  • That was a great lesson... Just a shame you forgot to teach us anything

  • @gibsondanny you should watch it aggsin and see how right you are

    its bs

  • @gibsondanny Sir, you just missed the most important part of this lesson: You've just been taught how not to teach, not to get taught, but not to taught. Guitaristepurerock is just a misunderstoof genious. He doesn't teach anything, and he's pretty damn good at.

  • @JazzySpook the fact of the matter is, there is no lesson... a lesson involves teaching and this only has a demonstration

  • this is a nice cover! you should try and mess around with chords of this song... hey sound great (check out my video response)

  • it was good but i think you need to show how to strum it to

  • Nice playing but for something different...Search "the Beatles blackbird on steroids" if you want to hear a rockin' version of the song. I guarantee you've never heard it like this! The video ain't bad either!

  • ur so fast dude!! slow it

  • this was so helpful thankyou its good just to watch and listen to the flow helped me pick it up so much faster :) keep them coming xxx

  • Anyone else think this guy sings really well? Kinda sounds like Michael Stipe.

  • isnt this video just kind of making fun of the guitar illiterate? Lesson my ass

  • 1A gespielt und gut gesungen vielen Dank Torsten

  • where the fuck is da lesson, dude

  • beginers, the tabs are in ultimate-guitar

  • that was just asome (:

thanks, it was very productive to me

  • So...much...reverb...

  • standard tuning, its a lot easier than it looks and its actually quite hard to watch someone elses fingering because u are not sure if they have their fingers on something else. Most of the song is seemingly just 2 strings a time ;)

  • Most Awesome - my turn - aha

  • al fin lo encuentro con mas volumen

  • wheres the TEACHING part ?

  • happy to see there's no bar chords, but other than that I'm lost :) (beginner)

  • How did Paul play the ending on the record? Sounds like a slap...anyone knows?

  • If you are going to name the title of your video guitar LESSON, you should teach instead of just playing it. It defeats the purpose of a lesson

but your playing was really good

  • @Jamie56786 I went to his channel and he has another vid of this song where walks you through the fretboard positions and the fingerpicking! I learned Blackbird by ear some years ago, and am very impressed with his method - you really can't go wrong with this guy. :)

  • @Jamie56786 i agree

  • @Jamie56786 This is a lesson to play along with...there are other lessons on youtube that break it down for you...try those first and once you get the fundamentals down that use this video to play along with..I think it is great

  • @Jamie56786 this is the best lesson i have found on this song, i can see exactly what chords he is playing and everyone knows the picking pattern. this has been a great help to me.

  • how is the neck so steady xD

  • @checkthissaw man, if yo know the guitar, you can learn just by seeing this.... XD

  • you're all pompous dickheads.

  • I'm so sick of people wanting tabs. Seriously, if you need to read music to play music, IT AIN'T MUSIC!

  • @therealfactor Thats some bullshit right there, how do you think songs get transferred from generation to generation? Do you actually think Leopold Mozart was humming the intricate workings of an orchestra to his 5 year old named Wolfgang? I really don't think so. Actually, Mozart wrote without any instruments (sometimes a piano) the rest was all done on paper. By the way, this song called Blackbird was derived from a Bach guitar piece, which, again, McCartney probably learned from reading music

  • @TheRealmsNL It being derived from a Bach piece is irrelevant. And no, McCartney couldn't not, and can not read music --but that too is irrelevant. I don't think you took what I said out of context, but I don't think you considered the situation present when I made the comment. We're on a tutorial page to learn to play a song. You can SEE and HEAR the music being played. Too many "musicians" need to read it to play, and frankly, they're poor players. Just the truth bud. No soul.

  • @therealfactor Ok, fair enough, that makes a little more sense. But no soul is of course not necessarily true, because you can also learn it by reading music and eventually play it by heart and make it your own. That having been said, often the player who can play just by listening or watching will probably have a better feel for music and thus making better players. But it's not as plain as you've stated above, just my two cents....

  • @therealfactor you call Most of the Greatest Musicians in the world "Poor Players"?!?!

  • Man, just look where his fingers goes and listen to the music! That should serve for those who want to learn this song...

  • if you can't learn from this video stop trying at guitar

  • Thejeanralp@

Just go online there are alot of tab websites to

  • where can i find the tabs fot this? I love to plays this song but i'm missing some notes.
