  • Thank You Lincoln Brewster, for all the wonderful song your sing on to us. There is no better way to praise our LORD, thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!

  • I cried when I heard Lincoln's rewording of this song. Before I became a Christian, I used to think that this song (the original, worldly one) perfectly described my life: a depressed, broken mess mired in darkness. I got saved in September 2008 - and now listening to this tune turned into a song of praise for our King brings me to tears... the old has gone, the new has come. I will never be the same now that my Savior has ransomed me. HALLELUJAH!!

  • This song is amazing. I don't know why everyone is dissing it. LB is a great worship artist and is just out to praise the lord with his music.

  • the music is ok, but he fuck up the lyrics so bad! The original lyrics have a message and go a little deeper, but this is just normal, unispired worship!

  • i dont really think the lyrics matter in this case, sure the lenard cohen version obviously has incredible lyrics, and this version's lyrics are a little mediocre but im sure that god is more worried about where your heart is at rather than what song you are singing.

  • love god but god is every think ..

  • As a follower of Christ, I respectfully wanted to tell some of you that your comments are predictable and ignorant. There is a holiness to Jeff Buckley's rendition of this song, and these "new" lyrics are horrendous and trite. I like LB, and I've played many of his songs on worship stages. But this is utterly short sighted at best, and offensive at worst. Where is the originality in the Church today? They criticize 'secular' songs as immoral and then rip them off because they can't do better.

  • @bkfindlay hey, might i ask whats wrong with this song, i think its wonderful, and better than the origional... the origional doesnt even make sense...

  • @bluesBro18 As I stated in my original comment, the modern Church decries modern art and entertainment as many horrible things, but then it whole-heartedly encourages these type of "Christianizations" of secular tunes. Mozart, Beethoven, and many of the founding fathers of what we consider western music today often wrote for the Church or for spiritual/religious occasions. Would you respect Anton Lavey's followers "improving" Amazing Grace for their faith? Seek God, find your own voice. Peace.

  • @bkfindlay ? what?

  • @bkfindlay Lol! ummmm.... (beavis voice) so, how's it going? Hee-he.... (butthead) uhhhh....that was cool...

  • LB = guitar god.

  • it really means praise Yahweh for HalleluYah

  • awesome to see how much a 4 person band can do!

  • Wow this changes the emotion behind the song from depressed confusion to a song of reverent joy and victory.

THAT is what Jesus is all about, restoring what was broken to something better than before.

Worldly people can stick with the old version but this is what my soul needs!

  • @DisruptiveInnovator Well said!

  • Greetings to Mexico! God is great!

As a fellow musician, I must say here that Lincoln needs to commended for carefully placing his guitar ability in balance with obedience to the Lord.

He is not glorifying his ability, he is giving thanks to God for giving him a talent!

It is a gift from God to have the ability distinguish talent and fame from obeying God's calling to spread the Good News and to edify believers....

  • Hallelujah!

Good sound quality. Better than most live YT recordings, I'll say that!

Give praise to our Lord for talented obedient Christians......

  • complety agree with you!!!!

completemente de acuerdo contigo!!!! grettings from Mexico

    saludos desde México

  • say what you will about christians and or christianity... this guy is really good.

  • You pulled me from the miry clay and have given me another day on this wonderful earth. I wouldnt play here without my lord and savior. Brewster is a great guy, I reccomend seing him in concert. It not only music and awesome solos but a mini church service as well. God Bless you all!

  • is this in colorado because i went to this dare to share and it was awosome!!!!

  • may i ask how christian rock is an oxymoron?

i personally think this song is amazing.

i'm sorry you don't like the lyric change.

there's nothing you can do about that.

this guy wants to praise his GOD and i'm sorry if you can't deal with that.

please don't bring your baggage here under this song.

  • 1st of all he asked Leonard Cohen if he could change the lyrics so if Leonard said it was cool I don't see a problem with they lyric change. 2nd whoever said you can only express yourself in certain sytles of music if someone wants to write a song and use rock, country, rap, hip hop whatever they should have that right to there is no law that says otherwise. 3rd this guy rocks he actually played with Steve Perry of Journey that guitar solo would've made the original version sound better.

  • Never heard of him of course you haven't he was a studio musician. To be a studio musician you have to be way good. Andy Timmons is another great studio musician turned guitar god so is Guthrie Govan and being picked by the lead singer of a huge mainstream band is an accomplishment. And who says I don't listen to slayer? It's good workout music.

  • so wat if hes not on the fking radio if u dont likle it then watch a different video

  • so who have you played with?

  • lol, you seem pretty bitter. i'm an atheist as well, but it seems like you've got some problems on your shoulders, because you get defensive whenever god is mentioned or christians are brought into the discussion. relax, dude. i'm sure you don't like it when christians try to force their religion on you, so don't force your lack of one on them. let people believe what they want to believe. there's nothing wrong with changing lyrics in a cover. it happens all the time.

  • I could care less about your opinion I'm just voicing mine. I mean seriously bro society uses music to endorse all kinds of things who really cares about the style of music they use. Christians have as much freedom as anybody to do pick any style of music they see fit for worship. BTW this is not a religious argument, ut I believe any style of music should be used by any group to express themselves that is what music is for.

  • I just found this vid well I was looking for the chords to a song!!! And when I started reading what everyone had to say, I thought to myself it's so funny that someone that says they dident/dosent care what some bible thumpers had to say!!! If so! Why would you write back so much.....Buddy I think your out gunned on this one!!! But thanx for comin out...GBY

  • rock is about spreading a message...the music itself is a heart throb and can be used to indocrinate children about the terrors of war or about the love of God...Love is by far the most radical issue in the world since every one sings about it, and lincoln's just redirected that Love towards something more meaningful than sex and drugs

  • Everyone is indoctrinated into something, doctrine is simply belief. If no one was allowed to "indoctrinate" then there would be no commercials, editorials, or free speech for that matter. Our young minds were indoctrinated by those wonderfully delicious Cocoa Puffs every Saturday morning. It's just the way it is. The good news is everyone has the freedom to choose at some point.

  • o christians cant play popular music? the song sounds good whats wrong with playing it

  • Look up

    Thousand Foot Krutch(Christian Rock)

    Kutless(Christian Rock)

    Underoath(Christian screamo/emo)

    Christians can use rock too.

By the by, the original lyrics to the song ISN'T considered a worship song because lamenting =/= praising or exalting God. So yea, Brewster's version IS a worship song.

  • wow this looks bad out of context, i was responding to a guy bashing us christians because we covered this song

  • Love it! Gsus Rocks :)

  • Perfect...............

  • I was at that tour it was soooo Awesome. i loved it and they are Awesome. i love there music

  • I still prefer the original version. I to am a servant of the Christ, yet I find the original held deeper, heartfelt, even inspired lyrics. There were indeed many rich allusions hidden in the original's score. You know, a believer once discarded skillet's album "Comatose" when he couldn't grasp the deeper meaning to "scars on your wrists." Hey, whoever's not against us is for us. As Christians, we should be humbled that he was so inclined to sing hallelujah. it seems WE just don't want to cry.

  • i love this song, ya you were shaky but it sounds great witch matters most

  • That solo at the end was outstanding. Love this guy...keep on rocking L Brew!

  • I'm a christian and yes worship is nice and so on.

...but musically i think a lot of beauty of this song disappeared in this much more "happy version of the song".

especially the ending was no good.

I much rather listen to this song when its more calm.

My fav version is Alter bridge's acoustic version.

But the intention of making it a worship song was nice anyway.

  • I kind of agree with Uglando, though I don't think it was meant to be a disrespectful song to either God or the Holy Spirit, they were used as metaphors for the depth and spirituality of Leonard Cohen's sexual and emotional relationship. The lyrics in this version just strike me as a trite and cliche attempt to piggyback the success of a truly beautiful and emotionally deep song. But hey, worship is known to be quite banal anyways, so the shallowness of this version really doesn't surprise me...

  • Amen!

  • I think this is stupid because the original was all about sex and was extremely disrespectful towards God and the Holy Spirit.

Sing to the Lord a new song!

  • Yes indeed the original song was very dark. But it's good that it was remade to what it should be. I mean, even if the original was more beautiful when they use such a word as Hallelujah in vein and as a sexual eroticism its just wrong.

  • amen, Beardedredhead!

the frist version is a mixtured, of christan & of the world's music..

Lincoln turned it into a worship song.

    love this song, so much!1

i like how Kate Voegele sings it too.

  • Anyone know of a good tab for the SOLO to this? I don't need the chords, just the solo

  • yeh No prop. with the whole chris rock thing,

but no reason to deficate on ton ofthe bes love songs ever.

  • i have no idea what your response means but i was saying he destroyed this song with his version of the lyrics

  • I thought it was going to be hokey when we did this at our church, but it was actually quite powerful. Now musically speaking, I dont think the song suits Linclon Brewster's voice at all. It's too high and shrill. Nice lead guitar though.

  • Lincoln is too talented of a song writer to have to resort to messing with this Leonard Cohen classic. I thought his version was a little lazy, lyrically speaking. I know Christians are suppose to think every Christian song is pure gold, but I thought this was awful.

  • i love this song alot, he sang this song at the D2S in Seattle, and i started to cry when the song started, it gets to me everytime i heasr it, and when it started to get to the part where it gets really really loud, i just broke down, i was osbbing soo much, i left the huge sanstuary thing we were in, and literally cried for 10mins. straight.

  • I'm a fan LB but this was a really bad idea. Way to ruin a great worship song already.

  • Dude. the previous version of this song is not a worship song. it actually has some sexual theming and such in it. so yeah, he turned it into a worship song and made it really good. alright.

  • I'd argue that the original song is a lamenting psalm. It's a person crying out...I don't know how you can't call that worship.

  • @Beardedredhead7 Don't worry man. People who appreciate music like the song. besides, He's probably just some skillet fan who only appreciates noise.

  • @Beardedredhead7 it was the story of what happened to david just so everyone knows... :) not necessarily what i'd consider a worship song

  • i loved this!! my youth pastor sings it now worship!! i was at the survive tour in GA it was AMAZING!

  • I love that solo, it's one of his bests.

  • I was at the Tour in Arizona! Lincoln Brewster was Amazing!

  • This guy is awesome!! Praise God....

  • i was at the tour in seatle! I love this song, but i didn't like the lyrics of the original.... I love that he made it a praise song!

  • What an awesome idea. Taking a beautiful song and using for the glory of God! :) I've liked that song for a long time now, but i was confused by it's meaning. This meaning is loud and clear. Praise the Lord! :)

  • What an amazing idea,

to take such a beautiful song, and use it for God's glory.

I've always liked that song, but I was confused by it's meaning. This meaning is loud and clear

    :D awesomeness
