I just realized something. I was looking for the Magna Volt commercial, and after giving the speaker in the commercial a good look, I'm thinking, isn't that the boss from Office Space?
Paul Verhoeven (the director of the film) wanted to learn more about American TV to play in futuristic America. He was suprised to see that during important news programs there were TV ads, which is why he placed them in the news segments.
@quiksilvermanblue Yeah, an a WHITE car thief to boot. (Didn't you just love the DIVERSITY of the criminal gang that killed Murphy/fought Robocop? A black guy, Hispanic guy, an Asian, 3 white dudes. Looked more like a college brochure than a mugshot lineup to me!)
@ultragroove1 yep. and most of it was shot in my town (Dallas), if youre a big fan of the first film, you can visit many of the places were many scenes took place. my fave is Dallas City Hall (aka OCP headquarters).
ROFL ROFL, these adds are BRILLIANT, so much sarcasm about todays advertisement and consumation, this is hilarious, the first about the mechanical ehart with an extend guarantee ROFL ROFL like thats gonna save you lolll and the last one about the sun screen its a sun screen lotion but theres warning "Caution: Frequent use will cause skin cancer." ROFL ROFL this is funny the first 2 robocops movies were fucking Brilliant.
These commercials and news broadcasts made the movie all the better. Here's something scary-in South Africa they have security systems on cars that are potentially lethal.
Your post is great, just what I was looking for. But why did you include the interview with the citizens on Police strike? That's not commercial.
Still, it is fun along the line of these commercials. You might submit another post only with crazy TV news (accidental laser fire from space killed two ex-presidents; nuclear plant caught in fire; etc.)
Don't know, I just had to include the Keva Rosenberg comment. I just love it. "It's a free society, except nothing's for free ... " I know it's not a commercial, but I thought a separate posting for just that clip would be too short. The commercials from R3 is not there, but I believe it's been posted elsewhere around here.
And close to predict the old design new cars, like Ford GT40, VW Beetle and Mini... Remember, the SUX is a 1986 Ford Thunderbird (called as Aerobird) with bad taste accesories

The really scary part is that the 6000 SUX ad came pretty close to predicting the popularity of SUVs in the past few years. :-/
I loved the Nukem! ad. Wish I had that in the board game closet. :-)
