Yes, my co-workers and I are demotivated. I can relate to the 7th point, we've come to a point where we avoid risks and we are an "extension of executive ambition", we just do as we're told and have given up on proposing new ideas. The funny thing is our boss isn't very brilliant so the company is slowly going to hell, we have half the clients we had last year, so, the company is loosing money but we are still getting paid, and we will get a nice big check when we are fired lol
@TheLadyoftheCats humans are creatures of habit. It's not easy to just quit. They also know really well how to be miserable at their current job and that makes it easy to stay.
@luno44 It´s not so difficult. I´ve done it before. I´m not available to me treated like shit. I have something called "self-estime" and I don't want it to be taken from me.
@TheLadyoftheCats It's not difficult for you, but every day I listen to everyone at work gripe about how much they hate their job, the way they're treated, and they're worried about being laid off. Most people will tolerate a lot of abuse before they crack. I think the company knows this so they make the job a little bit worse, then wait a few months for everyone to get used to it then make it a little bit worse again.
*self-doubt=work hard to salvage identities: i work smart baby! & i make sure i KNOW what i do.
*no emotional resilience=work extra hard to avoid humiliation: yeah right, i'm not gonna add another stressor when i'm already feeling bad. that's bullshit! i'd quit the job and look for a job where i am sure and know what i am doing.
*intense risk aversion=extension of executive ambiton: as i said, I'D WORK SMARTLY TO GET YOUR POSITION.
I agree on Hypnoexpert's comment. Still I cant help but wonder if anyone can sleep with a clear conscience for taking the term 'Human Resource' too literally.
We use subliminal strategies - not so dissimilar as NLP or hypnosis to control employee behavior. Subjecting employees to humiliating degradation followed by 'rescue consolation' causes the employees to eventually loose sense of self and become more malleable and compliant. The video above is a bit blatant, but a derivation can be used very effectively when part of an overall domination scheme. If done correctly, the employee is not only obedient, but unaware that they are being manipulated.
ScarletX71 is absolutely correct. I too have used Dr Kersten's techniques on my employees and the change in attitudes is remarkable. The "It could be worse" program is genius. See "Employee Complaints". It may be satire but it is useful.
I think one of the reaons that these videos are sooo funny is that they ring true. At least one of the companies that I worked for did have a demotivational program, but I think it was more by default than design. LOL
I have used the suggestions from Mr. Kersten's fine demotivational video in my own home and have noticed remarkable changes in the attitudes of my children and my husband. Not only is my family far more submissive and deferential towards me, but I've noticed they are now very responsive to my frivolous whims and mood swings. My husband especially has become far more servile and sycophantic.
You sir, are a cock and a mysogenist. You could not be more wrong, and frankly, all you are doing is teaching employers that it's ok to treat the workforce like shit, and telling them to lay it on even thicker. Google didn't become globally massive by your methods, but by treating their staff with respect.
Actually when I was watching this video I thought of Google. They are the masters of a demotivated workforce. The fact that they dont have a schedule means that they will work many times more as a 9-5 worker. Also Google's wages are one of the lowest in Silicon Valley. And as long as they keep a "college atmosphere" they will pay "intern wages".
This only a parody people. Despair doesn't exist. Gosh
