  • A beautiful sad song that, I'm sure many of us can identify with. Very clever use of the poker metaphor to make the point.

  • There is another group who sung this . Do you know who that group is?

  • I love this one!!!!!

  • love this song cant wait to sing it at work

  • THANKS FOR THE INFO-MUCH APPRECIATED.

  • never saw a picture of this group or who they were-anybody?

  • There are quite a few pictures of them. One has been released to the public for years. A few unreleased photos were released to the public by Marilyn Bishop-Piekarski. This group evolved from The Juveniles on the Mode label, and Marilyn was the lead. There's a very detailed article about them that I assisted with. It's featured on Charlie and Pam Horner's website (You'll easily find it if you google it)

  • summer of 1961, I had a free copy, a girl I was dating gave it to me, her grandfather wrote the song, his name was Carl Nutter

  • I see Carl's name on the label, although it looked like he cowrote this with a few other people

  • Could anyone tell me the exact year this song was released?

  • My mother died when i was 3yrs old,,i lived with my grandmother and she played this song much,,as i got older know had ever heard of it, and the funny part was that i knew all the words,,,Ty for this,,i loved this song~~~

  • I'm sorry to hear about your mom but happy you found the song

  • I can see the Z number, but, it looks like it has Deltas, too.

  • I never noticed a Delta in this and I've had many copies of this over the years. I'll check though

  • The large print is not conclusive of it being a Monarch pressing, but more likely than not, a record like that IS Delta. Other clues are VERY shiny labels and very stark, sharp angles in the vinyl under the labels.

I meant to say before (but I ran out of room), I'll check with Ron about those doowop break-ins, first and anything he can't get I'll toss over to you. He helped me with the list I wrote in the back of the Dickie Goodman book 14 years ago, "Dickie Goodman: King Of Novelty".

  • OMG!! That's my dad!! Well he's Dr. Robert Perryman now! I'm tickled pink to hear this on here!!!

  • I'm really happy that you found this. I have posted at least 4 other Embers songs, and some other users have posted Embers tracks as well.

  • SUPER GREAT RECORDING!!

  • It is Sam. One of the best

  • Doo Wop Magic!!!

  • This is the best one yet from this group, I think!

  • There's one I haven't gotten to post yet that I think will be your favorite

  • Bobby's voice is just excellent as well as the group. Thanks for a true doo wop tune.

  • I agree dil.. The Embers had it together

  • U R KILLIN' ME!!

    But I Luv It.

Her name was Arlene.....and at sixteen I had tears on my pillow over her, and a broken heart.

  • Isn't it amazing how songs can touch you like that?
