  • Hey, i was just wondering what sort of brush you are using? as in, what settings you have used to get this sort of line.

Also, what sort of brush do you use in general when inking?

  • I could NOT have explained this better myself! I sent one of my viewers on DA the link to this video, as they do have good potential as an inker, but, like so many people, they don't quite understand how to USE line weights and black spotting properly.

    You nailed it exactly!

  • Thanks for sharing! I've been reading a lot about the process of comics and constantly hear people talk about good vs. bad inking, but was trying to get a clearer picture on what they meant and how I you could discern between the two. You illustrate it perfectly here. Thanks again!

  • um dude... i actually like the one one the right better... there is nothing wrong with it . and as for the cross hatching in the out fit it gives it more of a leather feel or other thick porous material. and the others simply make him look hairy. both styles are good.

  • When you say the lines on the right guy's arms don't have a purpose, it looked like the purpose was to convey arm hair. As for the face, it looks like wrinkles, making the character look older. If you're after young and hairless characters, fewer lines make sense. Nevertheless, both of them are better than what I've been able to do.

  • I like the hairy one better :P

  • These are some great tips!

  • Nice vid. I'm no artist, but I have artists drawing for me. This at least helps me distinguish what to look for when I get to that level where I'll need inks done. Thank you :D
