Great band! I just framed this Lp cover ( when your a rebel) along with undercovers "boys and girls.." cover and I framed a "gut level music" poster for my office..maybe I will take a picture and post...
@earthalien77 The leader of the band has such a love for God. His only mission he had was to bring people to Christ, and his heart was toward the new wave/punk fans.
I used to love these guys in highschool. Now I'm 38 and the music still strikes a chord with me but the whole 'God' message just seems ignorant now. Delusion, in any form, is just not cool.
That doesnt make any sence The alter boys were ministering to those out there who can relate to this style of music what is dulisional about it? they Rock with a message.
I know the lead singer. Hes a cool guy!! He is currently in a band called the Altar Billies, they have the same songs, but in a rockabilly style. I saw them at a coffee house, and they are great. I know the bass player, JohnnyX. You go guys!!!!!
Saw them in 1988 in Kentucky. It remains one of the best concerts I've ever seen. Love the Altar Boys!!! Check out Mike Stand's Full Circle CD. It rocks. Great stuff.
Wow! That's cool! I have pics from that show of me with the Altar Boys on my website. (roman scott music) I later saw Mike Stand perform in 1992 in a small coffee house in Costa Mesa, California and he performed with the same energy and charisma that he did at Ichthus! I absolutely LOVE these guys!!!
Icthus had a real laid back feel. I recall talking to all three guys and getting some pics. Where the pictures are now who knows. I remember telling Jeff that I had all their albums and he said "Both of them?" I said no, I've got the self-titled one with the campfire on the front. They are great guys!
I love the cameo appearance by Steve Pannier!!! What a hoot. He comes in at 0:57 and later moshes a bit with Ric Alba (bass). This song is so passionate... I remember singing this at the top of my lungs in my youth! Mike Stand is a great man. The Altar Boys continue to impact us. Thanks a million for the posting! --joey.fester
This song is great. So many of the "Christian" bands today write songs that are ambiguous. For an unsaved person it could sound like they are just singing about a girlfriend or a boyfriend rather than God. I don't mean to put them down or the ministry they feel God has called them to but I truly appreciate music like this that makes sure you know exactly who they are talking about. Thank you for posting this. God bless
My good friend in high school introduced me to these guys back in the summer of 1992. That summer I got into The Altar Boys and Undercover. It was such a great time listening to these bands while growing in my faith as a young teen. I saw Mike's next project, Clash Of Symbols, a bunch of times in 1994 and 1995.

As a new Christian in 1986, this song taught me Romans 12:2. I used to have the shirt the drummer is wearing.

Icthus! I was there too. It was only a 30 minute set but they killed it! Remember Mylon Lefever came on right after and really killed the vibe.

I saw these guys back in the 1980's.
I was doing sound for another band at a street fair in Tustin or Orange (maybe Santa Ana).
They had a good following, but were still really humble (my impression from working with them during the overlap of bands teardown & setup)
Very real.
