The cage panel was set up to give way on impact, Undertaker didn't even actually lift Foley into the air to physically chokeslam him on to the cage roof, rather he pushed him backwards by the throat and then Foley, knowing it would give way, free fell to the canvas. Taker & Foley obviously refuse to break kayfabe about the incident for obvious reasons, it's been made too much a big deal of as being legit & would ruin the match's classic status.

The ring impact may have been real, but if it hadn't been for the screws on that panel being intentionally loose, he would never have gone through the cage. Still, this was a great match.

If you look at when the camera shows Floey laying on the mat you can see plastic black ties around him. There are two theories to this. One is that Foley and Undertaker actually did plan to do this and lie about it being an accident. The other is considering that this was one of the first HELL IN A CELL matches they tied the top of the cage off with these ties and did not expect anyone to go up. If this was the case, then I bet the got their asses chewed out by McMahon after.
if you any of you haven't seen Beyond The Mat, i highly recomend you do, Mick's wife was fucking scared when she saw this, and you can hear it in Micks voice after the match, he was just as scared.

This match at the time was so brutal even for the Attitude era. I remember tuning into Raw the next night to see what they would say about this and nothing was mentioned.

After Foley was tossed off of the top of the cell through the announcers table, the match was going to be stopped according to the script; However, as he was being stretchered out of the arena, Foley got off the stretcher, climbed back on top of the cell and continued the match. The Undertaker then delivered a chokeslam to Foley on the roof of the cell, which caused one of the roof panels to give way.
@JeliOrtiz if you fall of a cell your're done your dead they are trained proffesionals one way or the other they know how to fall and where to fall that's the only logical explanation but still it is entertaining to watch

It's moments like these in professional wrestling when you get real true unscripted and unplanned emotion. Anybody else would have been dead taking the same falls that MickFoley did
It was actually that chair that hit him in the face that knocked Foley out. But how any one man can continue the match after a fall like that one is a legend in my book.

that was NOT a planned spot....at all...undertaker even said in an off the record interview that the panel wasnt suppose to break loose...that for 2-3mins after that fall mankind was out on his feet...and that he said to mankind "look mick, just stay down" after that happened

@shaunthevirus and just in case you ask how or why it was that bad, mick suffered some bad injurys 1. he's tooth went though his nose 2. he dislocated his shoulder and it was truly a miricle that he was able to climb up the cell, now those were the 2 from the fall now for the ones cuased by chokeslam on the cell roof, 3. bruised kidneys reason why he was bleeding internaly from the mouth 4. concussion to you and me that means he was knocked out legit ,and then the tumbtacs they were real.
