The movie is fairly ridicules in retrospect, i mean Shyamalan as a writer that saves the world? C'mon, how smug can you be!
BUT i will say this: Paul Giamatti is fucking brilliant and gives the movie heart, Bryce Dallas Howard is breathtakingly beautiful and the music, oh god the music... The music by JNH is the most beautiful score of its kind ever made in the history of movies - I will fight whoever says differently!
There is no use in accussing people that don't like this movie, or any other movie of this sort, it is not their fault that today we are lead into a cinematographical age that doesent care about quality, but quantity. The simplest the plot, the more will watch, the more will watch, the more money in their pockets. So, lets all just enjoy the beauty of the music and the film, in peace!
this movie is a beautiful fairytale, i think people should spend more time dreaming and reading fairytales. what is life without a little bit of magic and imagination?
I wish i had the power to comfort the sick, comfort somone who just lost somone. I wish you never felt lonely and unloved or heartbroken. I wish i could make you feel safe and full of hope. I dont know who is reading this but i love you with all my heart. I love you peace and love to humanity

This movie is probably the most inspiring movie i can remember, the music tells a tale for the one who is still listening, it speaks of clinging on to that special thing in life which makes it worth living, it speaks of how each one of us have a special part to play in this life and it speaks of how one voice can make a difference.
It may take a lifetime to find what one's purpose is, but in the end every second in our life would have mattered only to have full knowledge of what it can be :)
Weird how I looked up this song when i WAS A little younger and remembered the title of it i was like oh its probably named lady in the water! I was planning to search this song sometime.
i remember when i was only 12 - 13 i sleeped down next to the tv and when this movie started in the morning very early in the morning i was about to fall in sleep but i got water so i could wake me self up to keep continue watching it this was and will be the best movie ever existing! my childness was completed when i saw this full movie on canal +!:'D i miss this, i wish this was on dvd.
I was fairly young when I first saw this movie, so it's fair to say I don't quite understand much of the film. But I can't believe how I hadn't remembered such a lovely piece of music! I'll definitely have to give this movie another go now that I've re listened to this! It's quite motivating. :)
I bought the movie because the soundtrack didn't have the music. some of the piano riff in the healing is very nice but my favorite piece is not on the soundtrack but it is in the movie...
One of the things that the people who love and hate Shyamalan's works should be thankful to him, it's for bring the best of James Newton Howard. His scores are amazing. If this movies had the appreciation that deserves, James Newton Howard should be with more of a Academy Award.
But this world is unfair, and people likes craps like Twilight and masterpieces like this film are forgotten. The time will put it in the right place.
I think of the timelessness of the universe and how each of our entire lifetimes are barely even a blip in the lifetime of the magnificent, mysterious universe....

@autumnclover Same here, wasting time trying to imagine all the particles on the atomic level.. Chaos of light rays, ultra waves, particles, strings interracting with each other all the time... It's like a beautiful symphony where each sound merges with another. together making the music. Man, the whole size of it, the unknown gives makes me shiver.. The more you know, the more questions. There's so much to see and experience that we humans can't.. It makes me sad, there's so much more!
I'm 13 also. I've never seen this movie, but the music in itself toucheds me greatly. On my ipod I don't have any of the current pop or anything of that sort. Actually 3/4ths of my ipod is this kind of music. it's truthfully the only thing worth listening to! i can just close my eyes and picture myself in a different world. I just wish that once i could open my eyes and find myself truthfully in that world.
@neighborsaninja 3/4ths? I love this kind of music too, but there honestly isn't enough great tracks to fill 3/4ths of my iPod. Thomas Newman is my favorite composer, check out some of his stuff too.
m night shyamalan's movies NEVER fail to give me goosebumps at least a few times throughout them. They're just... they touch you on a different level. Especially this one, such an incredible movie
this is definitely one of my all time favorite movies with an equally fantastic soundtrack. James Newton Howard is a genius, he seems to work very well with M. Night Shyamalan films. Based on the trailer for this movie, I thought it would be a somewhat scary movie, but I was pleasantly surprised to find this wonderful bedtime story. This story has such important messages and themes, I absolutely love it!

I love the movies M. Night S makes. And he always finds the BEST people, to make the most beautiful or inspiring or fitting soundtracks. This movie was so well composed... I watched it and... Well, I felt 'awakened' myself. It made me think a lot about the world and.... all that good stuff, :). the whole movies made my mind whirl, right to the very end. The soundtrack was half the thrill.
@KayWildcat Calm the hell down. I haven't even seen the last airbender movie yet, and i don't know if I will, so on that I have no opinion.. But Shyamalan made awesome movies imho. One bad does not make all suck. All of 'em so far have been great. And yes, I do like the music, and I think the composer is very good, but the actual ACTING part of a MOVIE is half the great thrill - and the soundtracks are the other. My opinion remains the same. Go get a life and stfu.
I agree everyone has a place. Except critics. That's why there is only one death in the movie and it happened to be the dude who sits back judges everything. lol
@tbmuex lol I think that was M. Night's personal little revenge!! =D "People break down into two groups... [...] Group number One" can't see further than the top of their noze... these bash Shyalaman's work, whatever he tries to make... They don't understand/don't agree the message of one movie, so, for them, everyone wholikes Shyalaman's work is just crap...
"Group number two" love Shyalaman's movies ^^ (I'm part of group number 2 ^^)
this was such a beautiful and great movie. 90 percent of movie-goers hated it because hollywood has sucked the imagination out of most of the populace slowly but surely over the past 20 years with big budget crap full of explosions and ready-made, predictable plots and stupid endings. this film was and will always be m.night's masterpiece. the music makes me want to cry every time i hear it, it is so beautiful.
I have only seen this movie once, but recently I stumbled upon this incredible soundtrack. I totally forgot how gorgeous the music was. Thanks for posting the vid. I love this one the best!!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Before I saw this movie, I couldnt understand why people hated M. Night Shyamalon so much... now I now why; I wanted a suspenceful scifi thriller and what I got was a touchy feely drama. They shouldnt have advertised this movie the way they did; they made it out to look like a hardcore fantasy but it turned out to be emotional slop. Great creature design and amzing soundtrack, but thats it. BTW what exactly was the message in this movie?
@DrFlowPhD yeah i had to think alot before i realised. Its explained in the beginning. how man has created a horrible world we live in now and we dont know how to listen, in this case...to the narfs. maybe its just a giant guilt trip movie :P
You are ringt...there were many messages I think. And one of them is that everyone has a place in this world. No one is needless. And no one is alone here. I know, I am only fourteen...but this movie means for me very much.
i have seen this movie several times and each time it touches my soul. this is a beautiful movie and story and i think everyone should see it at least once. this movie also means alot to me.
@Esgalduine As it should for all of us. But some people are blind or you could say 'gone going' from the song by jack johnson.
This scene in the film is one of the most beautiful scenes. It means so many things, the lady can represent the earth and the rest of the individuals represent the different races as they all have their different personalities and as they join hands to help this poor girl (earth) they can save her, 'heal her'.
I am only 16 and this movie along with others, means much.
@Esgalduine Only 14 eh? Well I'm impressed. Most people at your age only care about violence and other messed up things these days. I almost got tears in my eyes.
I have to admit that's what I was thinking about when I was all excited to see The Village - but I have to admit I still really like his movies the more of them I see. It has a really good message.
It's unfortunate that some users would censor your opinion just because it's challenging the movie. I agree, the previews did fuck up the image of this movie, but wouldn't you say that's similar with a lot of movies? It's fine that you don't like the movie, but what I got was that childhood wonder and fantasy, but it was adult. There might not have been a message.
M Night is one of the best original directors of our generation. How many of us have been subjected to remakes of old tv shows?! Lady in the Water is a beautiful story - and every actor in it was flawless. Paul Giamatti is amazing.
think the self of hitchcock? and he`s definitely not overrated, look at his latest critics, almost everybody is blaming his lst movies...and i think it`s not right, they`re just too blind to see his hidden messages, his movies are not made for relaxed DVD-shows at home, his movies are made like artworks, with his special little "subscribe" (his cameos) und his special way of shooting his movies, you can interprate them like paintings...every single on of them from "sixth sense" to "happening"
I loved lady in the water. Actually I like all of his movies until I saw that last one. The happening? Think that was it. Didn't really enjoy that one at all.
you said "the happening? think that was it." and i thought you meant his career, but i also have to say that "the happening" was the movie that would be the last one in a list of my "favourite shyamalan movies" i love it too, but hs others are better. his new movie is "the last airbender" coming up 2012
Well, I can't disagree with the ego bit--that certainly is true, but I do think that he is a quality filmmaker, and is better with such than most modern directors.
Nonetheless, I respect your opinion, and if you try to start an argument over something so small as "I didn't like it, but you did," I may have to stab several people.
A master piece both movie and sound track. Such a deep and smart movie.... A mirror to the amazing gift of our humble yet magical humanity..... With its ups and downs...With its trimuph and challanges !
Oh I love this film so much. It's so magical and really makes you look at the world even though it's only a modern fairytale. One of my very favourite films with a wonderful soundtrack.
Can I make a friendly suggestion? Dont limit / compress your videos like this.. it sounds really unatural and jumpy in the volume. Film music is the most dynamic type of music out there.. leave it that way yeah?
nah its not youtube. youtube compresses yes, but not in the same way you'd use a compressor in audio production. Also youtube it doesn't overlimit like this. All the videos I've uploaded never had this limit issue.
look at the picture of the video ,,, it doesn't even look like a horror movie,,, it really looks like a fantasy doesn't it(: I loved this movie and i would recommend it to anyone but please don't say its horror movie even though it had some scary moments.(:
Sublime. I never watched this movie, and although I hate horror movies with a passion (they give me nightmares for a week), I'll probably muster enough courage to watch this one.
I can assure you, its no where even near the gore-fest horror crap. There are a few scary moments in it, but not like a horror movie really. I despise horror too and I loved this movie.
The music is is so captivating. It fits this movie so well... It keeps you invested in this fantasy film..*FANTASY - NOT HORROR LIKE IT WAS MARKETED AS* Ill never understand why they did that... Same thing with the village... it was a romance suspense.. NOT HORROR.
Yeah really. I don't like horror films and if they'd marketed it as a fantasy I would've gone to see it a lot sooner. Great movie; I've noticed that the reactions Shyamalan gets from his films a very split - people either love 'em or hate 'em. Love this movie and the music is wonderful.

@SympatheticMisery It's truly a shame this film never got it's props. It was original, imaginative and downright entertaining!
Scoonertuna 7 months ago
this was such a beautiful and great movie.

I love this one the best!!

every music tells a story...but every song is like a book -differemt from the others but the inner meaning they are often the same
seraphiniadroid 2 years ago 8
the great thing about most of James Newton Howard's work is that if you close your eyes and listen, the music tells a story...so beautiful.

DrFlowPhD 2 years ago
@DrFlowPhD yeah i had to think alot before i realised. Its explained in the beginning. how man has created a horrible world we live in now and we dont know how to listen, in this case...to the narfs. maybe its just a giant guilt trip movie :P
Melons42 2 years ago
You are ringt...there were many messages I think. And one of them is that everyone has a place in this world. No one is needless. And no one is alone here. I know, I am only fourteen...but this movie means for me very much.

I have to admit that's what I was thinking about when I was all excited to see The Village - but I have to admit I still really like his movies the more of them I see. It has a really good message.
harpistgonehaywire47 2 years ago
It's unfortunate that some users would censor your opinion just because it's challenging the movie. I agree, the previews did fuck up the image of this movie, but wouldn't you say that's similar with a lot of movies? It's fine that you don't like the movie, but what I got was that childhood wonder and fantasy, but it was adult. There might not have been a message.
UnivocalTrash 2 years ago 3
@DrFlowPhD the message was that man has screwed up big time and you don't need to watch this movie to realize that just look around you

M Night is one of the best original directors of our generation. How many of us have been subjected to remakes of old tv shows?! Lady in the Water is a beautiful story - and every actor in it was flawless. Paul Giamatti is amazing.
702Jasper 2 years ago 2
think the self of hitchcock? and he`s definitely not overrated, look at his latest critics, almost everybody is blaming his lst movies...and i think it`s not right, they`re just too blind to see his hidden messages, his movies are not made for relaxed DVD-shows at home, his movies are made like artworks, with his special little "subscribe" (his cameos) und his special way of shooting his movies, you can interprate them like paintings...every single on of them from "sixth sense" to "happening"
Brabbel93 2 years ago
do you know how to connect to Mr. M.night Shyamalan
poyxeck 2 years ago
I loved lady in the water. Actually I like all of his movies until I saw that last one. The happening? Think that was it. Didn't really enjoy that one at all.
hudsonkm 2 years ago
i liked the happening, too...and even if you don´t lie it, one bad movie doesn´t mean the end of his career, and his new trailer looks very stunning
Brabbel93 2 years ago
Why would one bad movie be the end of his career? I never said that, and wouldn't have either.
The fact that there has only been one movie of his that I dislike is pretty impressive in itself. Considering how many hes made up until now.
There's a new movie announced? Looks like I need to search for the trailer.
hudsonkm 2 years ago
you said "the happening? think that was it." and i thought you meant his career, but i also have to say that "the happening" was the movie that would be the last one in a list of my "favourite shyamalan movies" i love it too, but hs others are better. his new movie is "the last airbender" coming up 2012
Brabbel93 2 years ago
Well, I can't disagree with the ego bit--that certainly is true, but I do think that he is a quality filmmaker, and is better with such than most modern directors.
Nonetheless, I respect your opinion, and if you try to start an argument over something so small as "I didn't like it, but you did," I may have to stab several people.
Not actually, of course. Joking.
Anyway, my point: Agree to disagree, yes.

An Amazing movie showing all of that !

AaronCEdwardsMusic 2 years ago
eh... most of the time it's youtube itself that compresses the video's into lesser quality
arienh 2 years ago
nah its not youtube. youtube compresses yes, but not in the same way you'd use a compressor in audio production.

The music is is so captivating. It fits this movie so well... It keeps you invested in this fantasy film..*FANTASY - NOT HORROR LIKE IT WAS MARKETED AS* Ill never understand why they did that... Same thing with the village... it was a romance suspense.. NOT HORROR.
styles1376 3 years ago 3
Yeah really. I don't like horror films and if they'd marketed it as a fantasy I would've gone to see it a lot sooner. Great movie; I've noticed that the reactions Shyamalan gets from his films a very split - people either love 'em or hate 'em. Love this movie and the music is wonderful.
