  • ever wondered what the truth about life and death is?

Go to TruthContest(dot)com and read The Present.

  • Why can't some of use be born in the time of when this came out. The old rock shall always live on.

  • maybe the best album they ever recorded!!

  • Why am in tears and still smiling? Thanks thin lizzy, at least your here.

  • as a young irish man it annoys me that Phil and Rory gallagher arent alive alive imagine these guys playing in oxegen instead of the mediocre "rock" we are stuck with :(

  • @adrianbrennan Well said.

  • best lizzy song ever

  • Phil, I never thought you'd go till you did, believe me. I met the man once, in JC's (John Conteh) restaurant in London in about 1982. We were peeing at adjacent urinals. When we had both finished, I extended my hand to shake his and he accepted. Then, we had this awkward realization that we probably both had urine on our hands! I saw The Lizz in concert twice, once at the Hammersmith Odeon, once at Wembley Arena, both in the Lynott/Downey/Robertson/Gorham configuration, and they blew me away.

  • @ShaunMossofPotomac You sir are so so lucky that is the best live band in the history of the universe.

  • Can't any better than this! Very, very, favorite!!

  • i wonder how difficult it is (if it is even possible) to write a song like this that so many people would just instantly love and couldnt stop listening to? Im thinkin forget that thought and stick with lizzy XD hah! think about it, the bands, groups or whatever we have today just cannot and will not ever make musical fucking art that will ever live up to thin lizzy ( or any other of the greats for that matter), bless them they try tho.........................PMSL!!!!!

  • Genius. Believe me.

  • @youngno8 I believe you :D

  • ohh there is a god this song rocks

  • don't leave me !!!

  • makes sense. cuz seriously, who the hell can dislike this!? lol no matter who you are, this song WILL get to you....

  • one person doesnt miss that girl....

  • @bdi1990526 Must have slipped and pressed the wrong thumb

  • Amy, I miss that girl...

  • This is the very first LP I bought while still in school. It had just come out.

Still love it today. Great music.

  • why the hell would anybody in their right mind want to go to a thin lizzy concert without phil lynott fronting the band? to me it would just cheapen the memory. RIP phil.

  • @urmydarkstar Not playing his great songs live these past 25 years would've been cheapening the memory, RIP Phil!

  • I photographed Thin Lizzy in 77 when they opened for Queen. To see the shots go to 70srockphotos (.com)

  • I'm a fool now that's it's over, can you guess my name? Maritza, I'd come running back to you again. Lawrd!

  • Susan Hickman...............I wanted to come running back to you Cj SA TX

  • Fantastic song from one of the greatest rock bands to ever have graced music :)

  • f the beatles - Liz is a force of nature

  • WTF was Phil's problem with this song? Why did he never play this song live in concert ? :( Any ideas Lizzy fans?

  • @MickeyLynott brian robertson refused tovplay it :P he didnt do any of the gitar work on the track thats all scott and phill wouldnt let scott do keyboards#

  • @adakenna Thanks man. It's such a gem of a song IMHO that I could never understand why they never played it live.

  • @adakenna he plays it on his albumn diamonds and dirt

  • MUTV CHAMP19NS

  • Thumbs up!!! 2011

  • This song is amazing! This entire album is top ten all time. From cover to cover, each song carries to the next perfectly. No mediocre songs at all- on this- thier best album.

  • @jeffromc1966 TRUE TRUE !!!

  • i think that phil was a little too pop for robbo's taste. in the end, it's what made lizzy so interesting. i wish phil would have collaborated with van the man. that would have been incredible. phil could have worked with so many more artists, the versatility.

  • My poet Phil RIP!I love you

  • One of Lizzy's best songs ,showing a Van Morrison influence.Scott plays all the guitar on this song as Robbo didn't want to have anything to do with it !He originally wanted to play the keyboards but was unhappy when Phil drafted in a session guy .Robbo has described this song as "poxy" ! Scott's solo is typically tasty and joyous in my opinion.

  • listen to all types of music, but always come Running Back to Thin Lizzy.Love Them !!

  • Shame this wasn't a bigger hit than it was. Perfect breakup song.

  • forgot how amazing this song was / is. lyrics are perfect

  • Thin Lizzy definetly have the best lyrics in the world.

    Only love song i like.

  • wooow, this song is so good, i've never heard better lyrics to this daily problem.

i respect this band all the way

  • Jodle-Finn would love this...

  • Phil's lyrics are way too true on this song

  • still the Greatest

  • hurting the replay button xD♥

  • Thin Lizzy are the ONLY band that can get me to actually like a song that features lyrics about being hopelessly in love with a girl! (99% of the time I say fuck that shit!)

  • BRENNAN'S BREAD!!!!!

  • me fascina esta banda ... saludos desde colombia

  • Sweetest song ever-i miss some girls :(

  • @TheFunkyKingston Don't we all man, don't we all

  • At the time i didn't know it but this is one of the best albums put out by one of the best bands ever!!! I was lucky enough to see them in 78? at tThe Warfield Theatre in S.F.

  • How do you not like this?

  • I worked at a couple of Lizzy Gigs.

I was at the Hammy Odeon when Live&Dangerous was put down.

They are the finest Rock band in the world.

    End of...Miss you Phil.

  • Was this used on an ad for something recently? I'm thinking bread?

  • @macylightfoot brennans bread!

  • @oggiemc83 That's the one!

  • This is what music should sound like. Timeless and classic. What more could any one want. Brilliant.

  • I bought this on 8 track when it first came out! Ahhh the 70s....

  • I find myself driving in a lonely highway when i listen to Thin Lizzy ^^

  • Welcome ,this is music . Enjoy

  • awesome track x

  • Hi all, just wanted to post this, Gary Moore is a bit of a twat, but he is by far the best lead guitar player Lizzy ever had, if you dont believe me just check him out playin Black Rose at the point Dublin, dont get me wrong i love em all, well maybe not Snowy ( he was a bit boring),

  • @MrTinlizzy

    Scott Gorham

  • @MrTinlizzy Well it all comes down to a matter of taste or opinion. You cannot say one or the other is the best, only who you think is the best ofcourse. Lots of others have different opinions and taste, and thank god we are entitled to to think otherwise... ;-)

  • Just bought the album. I really love it.

  • @Keijz74

jailbreak is the classic lizzy album... If you really enjoy them check out the song "sha la la" on the album "live and dangerous"... their best album by far

  • @verisharp Thanks!

I have them both. wonderful stuff.

  • Great Tune

  • Scott Gorham is a GREAT Guitarist!

  • @JessieBolt No flies on Robbo either!

  • Saw Thin Lizzy at the Old Cleveland Stadium in 1979. World Series of Rock featuring The Scorpions, AC/DC, Thin Lizzy, Journey, Aerosmith and Ted Nugent. GOOD TIMES GOOD TIMES !

  • @BigAlzer @loafbo @NotInTheCojones It's a shame that the vocalist of the band died on the year that I was born. Would've been great to watch a live performance of this.

I've known about ThinLizzy since I was either 11 or 12, because my dad kept playing it.

  • I agree with the oldster's, because I am obe. Iv'e been playin' over 40 yrs., and these are some of the sweetest, well timed duals ever laid down as solos. Not to mention Downey and Lynott.

  • Thin lizzy forever

  • Not a bad song on the album. All should have been played on the radio and not just Jail Break.

  • gavin - i still love you -30 years later Marionx

  • Nick Lowe stole this for So it goes

  • guys give ode to liberty a listen awesome stuff from mr Phil Lynott

  • @BigAlzer awesome song, great guitar from mark knoppler of dire straits.

"I'm am one who can not pratice what he preachs"

love the lyrics on this song.... great as usual.

I like both of his solo records, even if they are more mellow and dont fit the lizzy sound. Just good fun.

  • @thinfloyd I think you mean the song "Ode to Liberty", that is with Mark Knopfler and had the sentence:

"This is a statement. Made by one who can not practice what he preaches" in it. This is Thin Lizzy, without Mark Knopfler. On the album Jailbreak there were: Phil Lynott - bass guitar, lead vocals, acoustic guitar Scott Gorham - lead guitar, guitars, Brian Robertson - lead guitar, guitars and Brian Downey - drums, percussion * Tim Hinkley - keyboards on "Running Back" (uncredited)

  • irish bread company called Brennans bread

  • This is the greatest rock band ever and in my opinion the started heavy metal with their music and still they made som eof the best melodic music I have ever heard since then, just magic to my ears. Not to mention that they where the first ones with twin guitars. Excellent

  • I'm starting up a Lizzy tribute band just south of Boston....Anyone interested let me know jtnolan@comcast.net Give me a month or so to get goin' !! Thanks!

  • For those in the New England area...starting a Thin Lizzy tribute band. Give me a month, I'll let yall know about gigs!!!!

  • How is it...I love Sinatra...I was brought up with him.

Seen Frank 3 times got every one and yet this song takes me back and means so much more because it was Phil.

This is the Lizzy album bar none.

  • I'm 16 and love the good ol' rock n roll :D

  • Friday night standing in the darkness, eyes straining towards the stage. A rumble of bass, and Phils unforgetable voice " are you ready". A thunderous power chord and flash pots go off launching us into the light...

Phils wearing a gold silk shirt, leather pants, and white moccasions, playing a cherry red bass with a mirrored scratch plate.. throwing the light back into our faces shaking his fist, while the boys trade solos to downeys solid beat, the crowd is going crazy. Awesome days.

  • I agree. I started listening to Lizzy shortly after hearing Metallica's Whiskey In The Jar, and I'm glad I looked the history of that one up. It's been a few years ago. I don't listen to Metallica as much anymore, but I'm still hearing new Thin Lizzie songs I love all the time. Their music is amazing, and there's a little something for everybody, from softer tunes like this one and Here I Go Again to rockers like Emerald, Jailbreak, etc. And don't forget Cowboy Song!

  • My first album way back when doing my o levels still listening to it today just finishing my degree now!!

  • I saw Thin Lizzy at Seneca College in Toronto in Feb or March?,1977. Graham Parker and the Rumour opened the show. Thin Lizzy were unbelievable, Brian Robertson was playing a black Les Paul with white binding and he was as good as ANY of the hot guitarists of the 70's he was just beyond belief. wish they had video camera's back then .... sigh

  • I'd just like to say this song gave me back my faith in what songs are all about.Lyrics lyrics lyrics.I haven't heard it in a good number of years and nearly forgot about it until I saw it in the bread ad so nice one for getting it OUT THERE

  • @romeosouth

    What bread ad?

  • 'if i said I was sorry, would you still leave me?'

  • BigAlzer, im 15 and i feel you there!!!!

  • ..oh I'd come back runnin' to you again..

Yes..I'd come runnin' back to you again..

  • I never thought you'd go 'til you did..believe me..d-_-b

  • one of the many great songs off of JailBreak!

  • fuck being born to late

  • ow-mamamamamamamamamamamamamamamamama

    ow-tra-lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalala

    ow-nananananaNAna-naw

  • @fecoboco Couldn't express it better myself dude!!

  • Excellent......memories of classic Thin Lizzy.....This is timeless......Awesome ........Miss those days

  • if you listen to this song and don't like it, please check your pulse.

Thank you. Im not a doctor but I would like to play one on TV.

  • This album is awesome

  • A real gem in the attic this is. So many memories unbelievable really. Just so sweet.

  • There's a strong argument to support the suggestion that Jailbreak could be the best melodic rock album every recorded - perfect throughout. That Live and Dangerous is the best live album of all time - ther is no doubt. In a word - Awesome!

  • @ronanccurran strong argument???? it clearly is, fuck thriller, its shit

  • @ronanccurran I love Jailbreak, but I like Live and Dangerous best!! Though I admit, this song just is so sweet.

  • @ronanccurran IM WITH YA BUDD!!! THE EGE!!!!!

  • @ronanccurran hands down my all around favorite one. Very musical, catchy inflections throughout the whole thing. Jailbreak in my top 10 all time easily.

  • @ronanccurran You are so right my friend in rock!!

  • i just broke up with my gf and this is a good song to get over it i miss that girl

  • likewise...wit my fiance. thin lizzy is good for pretty much everything - it's like whiskey

  • Are you back together yet?

  • This is such a good song.

  • Many Happy memories listening to this song and the others from Jailbreak. Relaxing in the sunshine in Corfu listening to this! BLISS!

  • Fun Fact: Robbo doesn't play guitar on this one. Robbo wanted to play this as a slower, bluesy number including some slide guitar but Phil wanted this more pop sounding version, so Robbo refused to play on it!! I believe Robbo's upcoming solo album will have the slower version on it.

Anyway, Phil is a genius, Thin Lizzy rule!

  • Thanks for sharing morisribadeo2 - I dont think they really got the aclaim they deserved - Very simple and easy to relate to lyrics.

  • it has been a mess, but i think i did alrigt and i deleted the coments, let me know if is ok

  • Beautiful tune, this. Haven't heard since I was a kid.

  • My band and i played this song a week ago in front of 34 people in a louzy bar in Holland, and some people, believe me or not, thought this juwel was a song of our own (we wish ;-)...what a shame Philip...that there are people who have forgotten your music......R.I.P. my man...

Congratulate yourselves for your taste in the greatest rock music ever. Its good to hear a new generation listening to quality.
