US congresswoman Cynthia McKinney has come out and blamed the pro-Israel Lobby in America (AIPAC, ADL, ZOA, etc) for ruining her political career. While in congress she refused to sign the pro-Israel pledge and took a pro-Palestinian stance. Because of this, McKinney said “war was declared” on her by the Jewish lobby. In 2009 she told TIU's Ognir that “more than 99% of Congress work for Pro Zionist Israeli interests.”
When she said alatalanker i just wanted the interviwer to knock her the hell out , but then again we all have different tastes for me its simple its eighther scarface or harry met sally trains planes and automobiles E T but in all honesty if i had to pick one film it would be anything with fred astaire because with his dancing, the film came second you were just in awe and loved every second.
Those are not pretentious movies she mentioned. Educate your self a little: 'L'Atalante' & 'The Baker's Wife' are down-to-earth poetic works of art.Don't malign her for having better taste than you. I'm sure she's rather have root canal than watch 'Twilight' instead.
@FungusMossGnosis I'm sure they aren't. I'm just saying it's very standard to answer these sorts of questions with the film the viewers are unlikely to have watched, because it makes the person seem more cultured. It'd be much more fun if they came up with a stupid sensationalist film, than with such a boring choice- it prevents the viewer from connecting with them. Don't be a cultural snob.
One is not a snob for having better sense than the herd.
Well, B.J Novak's favorite was 'Naked Gun' and G. Lopez's favorite 'Scarface' - so there ya go: enough "stupid sensationalist film" for all of them combined.
And a fine movie is never a "boring choice", unless you are a reverse snob.
@FungusMossGnosis 'Having better sense than the herd' Jesus I really hope you're trying to be ironic with that statement. I'm not saying it's a 'boring choice' as a film- in the context of this mini interview it is boring.
@FungusMossGnosis For someone who considers themselves 'above the herd', you're quite juvenile, aren't you? I bet you're the type that says he listens to Bach when asked what music he likes, but when asked by someone who knows what they're talking about it's 'you know, the usual'. One day you'll learn that all art has its place, and none is of intrinsically higher worth than the other. Au revoir!
Right on! Like how is it the USA makes any good film really? Asia/ Sweden/ France and England/ Germany ETC R like Perfection. Any idiot in a non-USA high skool knows that!
If I was a actor I would name a porn film just to be funny. I would be like uhhh im going to have to go with backdoor bitches 3. The acting was just so amazing in that movie. It really inspired me.

One of those "trendy" answers that actors like to pony up because they hear its the favorite of well respected directors and critics and they think that it sounds intelligent if they say its their favorite too. Boring as hell answer. Wouldn't it have been cool if she said Deep Throat or Emmanuel in Space?

Yeah, no one could really love Vigo's film, or find it magic, or think it's pure cinema or that the acting is wonderful,or the cinematography--by the guy who shot Renoir's films and On the Waterfront--is unearthly splendid. Mirren has to be trying to sound "trendy" because her career is so on the skids and she's so broke and so affected. I pretend to like that "trendy" Bach and "pony up" that answer a lot when music stuff comes up.
L'Atalante and most things by jean vigeo are so popular with british actors...even tony richardson and Lindsay Anderson...and pretty much everyone in on the british new wave were huge fans of it too...i wonder why
Oh, man. I love that Helen Mirren. And to hear that she & I have the same favorite film, wow! I'm on cloud 9. You can see some scenes from it here on YouTube = L'Atalante posted by rdelima1
