TimpBizkit - Standard US outlets do not have a switch to control them - great idea though. If wired in advance, some outlets can be operated with a light switch, but that's not that common.

Can't you just flip the switch on the socket? No unplugging or fancy power strip needed. Do US sockets have switches on them? UK ones do - they're a bit like light switches but with a red bit showing at the top when they're on.
