sorry if this went too fast for you. watch it a few more times and you'll get it. I also have it written out on my web-site so take a look. It's under Stitches.
Are you slipping the stitch at the beginning of each new row? Do you slip the last stitch too ever? I don't think you are but just wanted to make sure.
Wow this woman is fast. And it's too fast to show how it's being done. Don't forget in seed stitch (also known as moss or rice) to bring your yarn back for the knit and forward for the purl. She is so fast that you don't see her doing it! I don't know why she's slipping stitches.
Judy, do you ALWAYS slip the first stitch, regardless of whether it is a knit or purl stitch? I don't understand how this is possible, especially in intricate patterns where they say exactly with which stitch to begin...
I'm so happy that I have inspired you. I started knitting when I was 13, so you're ahead of me. Keep at it and have fun. Check out the new video I put up yesterday.
i am learning so much from you. i'm working on a checkered scarf and of course i learned that from you, i brought that with me this week ,i;m a lady trucker driver.
how did your scarf come out? Isn't it fun to do something different and interesting and find out it's easy? how do you find time to knit? is there a co-driver? happy knitting?
no i'm not finished yet.i don't have a co-driver i find time when i take my break and on my off days. when i get it completed i will do a video so you can see it. ok.
Judy,
How do you bind off the seed stitch?
Thanks,
Katherine

@thepecanshop
I bind it off as if all the stitches are knit as on my video How to Bind Off on a Knit row.

Why are you slipping only the K st at beg of row, and not slipping the P st at beg of next row? Thanks!
OHCAPA 1 year ago
@OHCAPA
actually, I usually do that and I don't know why I didn't on that video.

@ShuckCreations
yes, always slip first stitch. makes for a neater selvage.

@knittingtipsbyjudy
...but only the K st was slipped at beg of row, never the Purl st at beginning of row. I am curious why not.
OHCAPA 1 year ago
@ShuckCreations
no, last stitch I always knit through the back for the same reason. it tightens it up.

Thanks, that is good to know! (I wish I could knit half as fast as you.)

Is this also called a 'moss stitch', or is that another stitch?

Hi, Can you explain what you mean by knitting the last stitch backwards? Does that mean you purl it? I can't seem to make it out in your videos.
BeStrixed 2 years ago
i think she means tat if u started to knit in the row b4 the one u r working on.,, u start with purl this time it likeee alternates :)

I always slip the first stitch and knit the last stitch backwards. This makes for a clean salvage edge.
Thanks for asking and happy knitting!
