@Bloodlyshiva he pretty much looks like a terminator under his skin.. which isnt real. the only thing that is real is his brain. the face is pretty much just there to A) honor murphy and B) give people a sense that there might be something human in there
@lvillegb does he not also have a human heart tucked away in there?
And I think in the first one they hint he's got a rudimentary digestive tract, which suggests he does some digestion, so maybe theres a stomach and a pooper somewhere..
hence the baby food, and the fact his chair looks like a giant comode
@historian111z They cover that in the third film, the odds of his face being shot are small, the splatter punks aim for it, but miss. And I'd have to admit, with him coming towards you slowly, but surely my aim would probably be a bit off too.
And besides, why don't bad guys in all shows just shoot the hero? Oh.. Cos.. then there'd be no follow ups..
@historian111z it wouldn't matter if they did. His "face" is just Alex Murphy's skin grafted to the cyborg's skull. Bullets might damage the tissue itself but they wouldn't harm the underlying structure anymore than they would his exterior plating.
The reason why that wouldn't work is because Robocop's skull is made of metal, with Murphy's face grafted on. If you look closely in the first film, you can see how the flesh of Murphy's face actually overlaps the rest of his head. The only parts of Murphy they used to build Robocop were his brain and face, nothing else. So, shooting him in the exposed part of his face would actually accomplish little, since it's just a thin layer of flesh over a metal skull.
@historian111z wouldn't make any difference. His "face" is actually a robotic head with Alex Murphy's skin pasted on to the front of it to give him a human appearance. The flesh might be damaged but it wouldn't actually hurt him.
Oh, yeah... guess that shows comic guru Frank Miller is not always top dog as he was the one who scribed Robocop 2 and 3 (and words fail me as well as to how abysmal 3 was).
I actually watched this, hated the little kid there. I didint remember that Andrea Roth was in it , thouhg I do remember the blonde hologram she was playing.
I agree that they ruined the concept..the theme music in the credits its not bad...
No, Robocop 2 and 3 raped everything the original achieved. This show simply shot it's load all over the original's face when it was done, so to speak.
It's a Verhoeven masterpiece, with numerous sub plots and all through the film the black humour really complements the extreme violence. Without either element the film wouldn't be talked about some 22 years after it was released.
Robocop 2 was rubbish. An insult to the original, not in the same league.
I hope the same. Hell Daredevil was decent with all that CGI 5 years ago, this will be ridiculous. I doubt they will actually use the Robocop suit...They'll just computer graphic him...
Maybe let the Japanese do the next Robocop. After all the year the original Verhoeven movie came out they made it the highest grossing movie in Japan if memory serves, so who better to make a new rendition than people who went out in droves and saw the movie like crazy that year making it number one that year?
this is a childrens / early teens program lets not forget that.
I was only like ten, and absolutley loved robocop - but at that age couldnt handle seeing a grown man have parts of his torso blown off at point blank range or have any idea about corrupt coorperate businesmen or anything like that - so i used to adore watching this.
Yvette Nipar is hot freakin' HOT!!!! I actually discovered her on a New Year's episode of Full House. She may be 20 years older than me, but I think I'd still date her, even if it's just one.
only director paul verhoven stayed true to visionary comic book artist and writer frank miller...whoever is directing the 2010 remake needs to go back the basics and get frank miller to re-write the script...find someone to be on the same page as basil poleduras as far a who will do the score for the new movie.
Paul verhoven did not direct Robocop 2, but robocop 2 did try to keep his style. Frank Miller didn't write the first Robocop either, Robocop 2 picked up on a script he had wrote. Frank Miller himself was pissed at Hollywood since Robocop 2 was a heavily edited version of his script and would not return to movies till SIn City.
this theme was awesome @_@ cool remix of the first movie theme.
and nah they didnt use Frank Miller's full idea for Robcop 2 they took the basic story but dulled it down look at hes Comic run of Robop thats how he wanted it alot more gory with Cain ripping apart hobos for Nuke.
i dunno if he had an idea for the third one or not but i thnk the first one turned out well..and for those to other movies i dont even remember the names for i have no idead who wrote the outline for those lol
I only really hated this show cause it used to be on every time I had to get a haircut. Funny how the news guy in the intro was a CTV news anchor and that this show was made in part with CTV. Back then shows shot in Toronto all had this same feel and look and it made it hard to watch at times.
Dan Duran(who I assume you're referring to)has done a LOT of work, both in front of the cameras and behind it(he's also a voiceover artist). He hasn't done news, though...not unless you count the show E Now. He seems to get CAST a lot as a news anchor/reporter, though....
Wow, this takes me back. I understand that a lot of the fans of the original movies are going to think this sucks. And they are right: the movie was better. But you had to have been my age when this came out. O, how I miss the 90s.
I remember being pretty excited about this being such a fan of the orginal film. But they really toned down the violence and the dark cynical feel of the movie and made the show more kid-friendly. Instead of shooting the bad guy, he'd punch him. It was too tame. But he did have a cool looking Mustang GT police car (which you knew wouldn't get blown up)
I remember seeing a clip of RoboCop when I was real little. After seeing all the films, the clip wasn't in it, so it must have been from this show. I would really love to see it. I have all the action figures they made for it.
omg i remember my dad letting me that up and watch this when i was little. i use to sit and watch this eating doritos... lol holy shit! this looks so bad.. thank god i've grown up ha!
Yvette's character, Detective Lisa Madigan, never once switched to a secret/double agent. You must be thinking of a different character, or mis-understanding what her character was faced with in a certain episode. Which episode are you referring to?
No, really? I would never of guessed Canadians was a nationality. Fuck sake. You must think there's such a word as "nationist", in place of "racist", but there in fact isn't, so the latter applies still. But, forget it; you're ignorant and sound like a total miserable loser, and who probably is the only so-called "Robo" fan in existence who actually likes the completely unlikeable "Prime Directives" series. At least this 1994 series had a budget.
Actually, the real truth is that I've just been having fun fucking with you. I threw out a random comment and when you replied to it with such over-the-top zeal I got a good chuckle. I've been sending my friends to this page to read your comments (see Patren? he's one of them). I don't care about the Robo series either way, and in fact I'd be interested to see it sometime. Peace dude.
Not knowing about some dinky Canadian award makes me ignorant? Right. Anyway, sometimes you can look at something just based on production values and tell it's crap. Want to know how I knew? Because I could barely finish watching this minute-long intro and did so only out of morbid fascination. Everything about this series was a disgrace to Robocop and that's fairly common knowledge. Also, racial? I think you mean racist. And, uh, Canadians aren't a race, idiot.
Whatever. Your loss. If you think something that has million dollar production values is crap, then god know's what you enjoy watching. Not everything was a disgrace to "RoboCop", and that actually is also fairly common knowledge, since many people, such as yourself, are ignorant towards the fact that, you've only watched just the OT sequence, and thought "this is crap, fuck this". And uh, yes, you are being technically racist towards Canadians. Look it up in the dictionary sometime...idiot.
A lot of things with high budgets can be crap... Battlefield Earth, Waterworld, Cutthroat Island... Geez, did you even read what you wrote there? Look, I'll lay it out again. I watch this intro. I see pale regurgitations of lines from the film, some Nancy Allen wannabe whose hair looks like someone soldered a dead rat to her head, a kid who can somehow make herself more irritating than Nikko with just one line... do I need to see more? Nope. BTW... Canadians are a NATIONALITY, not a race.
HAHAHAHA Canadian Academy!? That basically seals its lameness. And again-- don't care who wrote it, don't care who thinks it's good. I can look at this intro and tell it's crap. Period. End of story.
Canadian Academy, as in Gemini nominations. Christ, you must be one ignorant twat. I take it you're one of these people who judges a book by it's cover, when most people don't. Not only are you being racial towards Canadians, you're also criticising the two men who created and wrote the original 1987 movie. Yet another so-called "RoboCop" fan, who hasn't got a clue. "Period. End of story".
Get fucking real. How many episodes have you actually watched completely of this series? "RoboCop 3" was utter shite, compared to this series; the most expensive one of the 90's.
I don't need to see any more than this intro to tell what garbage it obviously is. Robocop 3 may have sucked, but at least it had movie-level production values and an ATTEMPT at continuity with the other two films.
If you had actually bothered to watch the best episodes of this series (there was quite a few) and not be so ignorant like so many so-called Robo fans, who have only watched 1 episode, you'd notice this series also had movie-level production values, and was a lot more expensive than "RoboCop 3". With regards to continuity, this series also maintained that. Who cares if they changed Murphy's wife's name? They even had Murphy (as Robo) re-assigned back to his old precinct, Metro South.
It also couldn't of been what you call it garbage, if it received 5 Canadian Academy nominations. Further to add, the original creators/writers of "RoboCop", Edward Neumier and Michael Miner, penned the two-hour 'Pilot' script, and stayed on as Executive Story Consultants for the rest of the series. Some people seriously need to check their facts first, before shooting something down.
Its not lewis its a new character named lisa lewis was written out of the pilot as it was an alternate robocop 2 script. She was never put back in so they created another cop to replace her
Hey, I was in an episode of this show! I played a drug addict hooked on "Fun". It was a pretty cool day of shooting, but Robo wasn't in that scene. Oh, well.
What the holy fuck is this kid friendly bullshit? This ain't Robocop.

@Bloodlyshiva he pretty much looks like a terminator under his skin.. which isnt real. the only thing that is real is his brain. the face is pretty much just there to A) honor murphy and B) give people a sense that there might be something human in there
lvillegb 1 year ago
@lvillegb does he not also have a human heart tucked away in there?
And I think in the first one they hint he's got a rudimentary digestive tract, which suggests he does some digestion, so maybe theres a stomach and a pooper somewhere..
hence the baby food, and the fact his chair looks like a giant comode
mikeapollo 1 year ago
@historian111z They cover that in the third film, the odds of his face being shot are small, the splatter punks aim for it, but miss. And I'd have to admit, with him coming towards you slowly, but surely my aim would probably be a bit off too.
And besides, why don't bad guys in all shows just shoot the hero? Oh.. Cos.. then there'd be no follow ups..
mikeapollo 1 year ago
@historian111z it wouldn't matter if they did. His "face" is just Alex Murphy's skin grafted to the cyborg's skull. Bullets might damage the tissue itself but they wouldn't harm the underlying structure anymore than they would his exterior plating.
Ace1249 1 year ago 2
@historian111z I think they had that idea in robocop 3

@historian111z He's a cyborg not a human now you dumbfuck.
evilaj2010 1 year ago
@historian111z
Richterdgf 9 months ago 5
@historian111z wouldn't make any difference. His "face" is actually a robotic head with Alex Murphy's skin pasted on to the front of it to give him a human appearance. The flesh might be damaged but it wouldn't actually hurt him.
Ace1249 7 months ago 2
@historian111z his skin face is just synthetic. this is titan under.

Robocop is one of my favorite Sci-Fi/Action movies ever made. RoboCop is real classic with fantastic storyline, visual effects....
I also love Robocop 2 and Robocop 3 - very underrated movies.
RoboCop The Series (22 episodes,1994) was no less impressive Television show.

This tv show raped everything that the original RoboCop from 1987 achieved, first RoboCop was the best and still is one of the greatest movies.
allroundmma1 2 years ago
No, Robocop 2 and 3 raped everything the original achieved. This show simply shot it's load all over the original's face when it was done, so to speak.
solpapisolmook 2 years ago
Totally agree
I have watched the original hundreds of times.
It's a Verhoeven masterpiece, with numerous sub plots and all through the film the black humour really complements the extreme violence. Without either element the film wouldn't be talked about some 22 years after it was released.
Robocop 2 was rubbish. An insult to the original, not in the same league.
Robocop 3 was, well....words fail me.
I expect Robocop 2010 to be a CGI fest.
I actually hope they don't make it.
reds005 2 years ago 3
agree allmost everything you said but i want to see 1 more Robocop only because world needs more RoboCop even if it sucks
allroundmma1 2 years ago
I hope the same. Hell Daredevil was decent with all that CGI 5 years ago, this will be ridiculous. I doubt they will actually use the Robocop suit...They'll just computer graphic him...
Merrick079 2 years ago
Maybe let the Japanese do the next Robocop. After all the year the original Verhoeven movie came out they made it the highest grossing movie in Japan if memory serves, so who better to make a new rendition than people who went out in droves and saw the movie like crazy that year making it number one that year?

this is a childrens / early teens program lets not forget that.
I was only like ten, and absolutley loved robocop - but at that age couldnt handle seeing a grown man have parts of his torso blown off at point blank range or have any idea about corrupt coorperate businesmen or anything like that - so i used to adore watching this.

only director paul verhoven stayed true to visionary comic book artist and writer frank miller...whoever is directing the 2010 remake needs to go back the basics and get frank miller to re-write the script...find someone to be on the same page as basil poleduras as far a who will do the score for the new movie.
kaine1975 3 years ago 3
Agreed with Kaine
Zero3026 3 years ago
Paul verhoven did not direct Robocop 2, but robocop 2 did try to keep his style. Frank Miller didn't write the first Robocop either, Robocop 2 picked up on a script he had wrote. Frank Miller himself was pissed at Hollywood since Robocop 2 was a heavily edited version of his script and would not return to movies till SIn City.
Elvencur5e 2 years ago
Frank Miller jerked the direction of the series with Robocop 2 ( decent film )and destroyed it with Robocop 3 ( one of the worst ever ).
TaeKwonDohBoy 2 years ago
this theme was awesome @_@ cool remix of the first movie theme.
and nah they didnt use Frank Miller's full idea for Robcop 2 they took the basic story but dulled it down look at hes Comic run of Robop thats how he wanted it alot more gory with Cain ripping apart hobos for Nuke.
LordValor001 2 years ago
Ah, so THAT is why his ideas were considered "unfilmable".
You've explained it well, Valor.
Would the last 2 films have been better off had they been released around this time?.

I only really hated this show cause it used to be on every time I had to get a haircut. Funny how the news guy in the intro was a CTV news anchor and that this show was made in part with CTV. Back then shows shot in Toronto all had this same feel and look and it made it hard to watch at times.
mattnara 3 years ago
Dan Duran(who I assume you're referring to)has done a LOT of work, both in front of the cameras and behind it(he's also a voiceover artist). He hasn't done news, though...not unless you count the show E Now. He seems to get CAST a lot as a news anchor/reporter, though....

i know what you mean dude and it had a remixed version of the robocop theme song as well but the movie is awesome
igotyou62 3 years ago
I remember being pretty excited about this being such a fan of the orginal film. But they really toned down the violence and the dark cynical feel of the movie and made the show more kid-friendly. Instead of shooting the bad guy, he'd punch him. It was too tame. But he did have a cool looking Mustang GT police car (which you knew wouldn't get blown up)

HitcherThunder 3 years ago
Actually, the real truth is that I've just been having fun fucking with you. I threw out a random comment and when you replied to it with such over-the-top zeal I got a good chuckle. I've been sending my friends to this page to read your comments (see Patren? he's one of them). I don't care about the Robo series either way, and in fact I'd be interested to see it sometime. Peace dude.
RodimusBen 3 years ago
Wow, this looks bad
TOMSERVO745 3 years ago
Not knowing about some dinky Canadian award makes me ignorant? Right. Anyway, sometimes you can look at something just based on production values and tell it's crap. Want to know how I knew? Because I could barely finish watching this minute-long intro and did so only out of morbid fascination. Everything about this series was a disgrace to Robocop and that's fairly common knowledge. Also, racial? I think you mean racist. And, uh, Canadians aren't a race, idiot.
RodimusBen 3 years ago
Whatever.
HitcherThunder 3 years ago
A lot of things with high budgets can be crap... Battlefield Earth, Waterworld, Cutthroat Island... Geez, did you even read what you wrote there? Look, I'll lay it out again. I watch this intro. I see pale regurgitations of lines from the film, some Nancy Allen wannabe whose hair looks like someone soldered a dead rat to her head, a kid who can somehow make herself more irritating than Nikko with just one line... do I need to see more? Nope. BTW... Canadians are a NATIONALITY, not a race.
RodimusBen 3 years ago
HAHAHAHA Canadian Academy!? That basically seals its lameness. And again-- don't care who wrote it, don't care who thinks it's good. I can look at this intro and tell it's crap. Period. End of story.
RodimusBen 3 years ago
Canadian Academy, as in Gemini nominations. Christ, you must be one ignorant twat. I take it you're one of these people who judges a book by it's cover, when most people don't. Not only are you being racial towards Canadians, you're also criticising the two men who created and wrote the original 1987 movie. Yet another so-called "RoboCop" fan, who hasn't got a clue. "Period. End of story".
HitcherThunder 3 years ago
Sorry, Ed Neumier and Mike Miner stayed on as Executive CREATIVE Consultants, not Story Consultants. My mistake.
HitcherThunder 3 years ago
This shit makes Robocop 3 look like a fucking masterpiece
RodimusBen 3 years ago
Get fucking real. How many episodes have you actually watched completely of this series? "RoboCop 3" was utter shite, compared to this series; the most expensive one of the 90's.
HitcherThunder 3 years ago
I don't need to see any more than this intro to tell what garbage it obviously is. Robocop 3 may have sucked, but at least it had movie-level production values and an ATTEMPT at continuity with the other two films.
RodimusBen 3 years ago
If you had actually bothered to watch the best episodes of this series (there was quite a few) and not be so ignorant like so many so-called Robo fans, who have only watched 1 episode, you'd notice this series also had movie-level production values, and was a lot more expensive than "RoboCop 3". With regards to continuity, this series also maintained that. Who cares if they changed Murphy's wife's name? They even had Murphy (as Robo) re-assigned back to his old precinct, Metro South.
HitcherThunder 3 years ago
It also couldn't of been what you call it garbage, if it received 5 Canadian Academy nominations. Further to add, the original creators/writers of "RoboCop", Edward Neumier and Michael Miner, penned the two-hour 'Pilot' script, and stayed on as Executive Story Consultants for the rest of the series. Some people seriously need to check their facts first, before shooting something down.
