the lyrics to this song arnt evil, they sound it...but what this song is really about is this message: our earth is falling, and we need to band together to stop it from plumeting into a living hell, but so many people have much hate in thier hearts.......
loomis brought us together...LONG LIVE NEVERMORE!!!
I love this band's music but this song's lyrics absolutely shatter me... It reminds me of when I built a wall between me and the people I love, and how much of a bastard I am for it. Now I suffer and learn from this... Nevermore knows best.
...I'm glad Nevermore are doing what they want and the latest album was an attest to who they are as musicans. Tested true veterans of the metal genre.
This is just another song from Nevermores colorful song collection. Nevermore are more than the fans expect them to be, :). They compose their music the way they feel it needs to go, the fans will say what they want, but from a musicians perspective? It ain't up to you, and if you bitch? 5 words for ya. Suck it! Someone will listen! And that goes out to you Jessegrr420.
They're metal all the way and I don't think this is one of their better album's.I miss song's with more speed and depth like my acid words or Bitter sweet feast and medicated nation as well as Dead heart or narcosynthisis and I voyager and ambivalent.Out of this whole album there is about 3 great songs instead of 9-10 great song's they took off too long and they'll need to hurry up and give us another album more fierce sooner than later.
im looking forward to this new album,i didnt care for Enemies Of Reality or This Goddless Endevortoo much(although the remixed&remstered version of Enemies Of Reality is much better) but this album seems more on par w/ Dead Heart In A Dead World and even Dreaming Neon Black.
Loomis in an interview annonced that the lyrics of this song are evil... and he is right!!!
i listen to many song of the new album and the lyrics are more evil and cynical than before...
New nevermore are more aggressive... the songs are shorter and sharper, the lyrics are evil and dark, the music is hard and fierce...
They are moving in a differnt direction from their thrash beginnings... They are totally unfittable in any kind of metal music... They are simply NEVERMORE...
@wolfeman85 the correct name for nevermorish metal should be DOOMSDAy metal od APOCALYPSE metal cause they often sing the end of the world... Still better than "progressive-heavy-doom-goth-USpower-thrash-core metal"... LOL
@riblo72 well yeah look at the album cover dude you've got a boy with a serpent's tongue on the left, and a little girl wearing a mask on the right facing off. Of course this album is gonna be evil :)
@riblo72 jeff seems like the kind of person to express themselves well through music, just as bands like tool or cog, you cant quite compare them to anything else, because they have ignored the 'everything else' and found/sorted their own way to express music. these bands have something over every other, you aren't just reading the music, your reading their emotional expression. the emotional tie also brings with it beauty and detail am i right. the more you listen, the more amazing it becomes
@riblo72 They present a higher truth and it is something that has changed the entire way I see the Earth. These lyrics helped me to understand God and this nation and its themes are exactly what the Idiotbox wants us to not understand and it becomes clear we have been enslaved in America, right?
@riblo72 I agree With the fact that the lyrics are a little bit darker. And I respect that they are doing whatever they want to do with theyre music. But the dude that was in the studio with them from stone sour. Was guiding them, and gave them the idea to shorten their songs. I think its kinda lame. I dont think any nevermore fan thinks that "this godless endeavor" is to long of a song. I think its lame that they played that idea, and that it came from the dude from lame ass stonesour.
@Jessegrr420 In fact the guy is former guitarist from SOILWORK and Soilwork it's not a lame band... The problem with nevermore was that they did longer and longer songs every record... Now i admit they shortened songs a bit much but they still sound great... They have only to find the right lenght for their songs and i think it's in the 4:00 to 5:00 range...
@riblo72 Haha alright dude. yea i couldnt find the interview i wanted to make sure i was naming the right band I obviosly didnt lol. but yea dude they definetly have some good songs on the album. But I have to say imo I think this is their most mainstream album. Not because of this song at all though. That song emptiness unobstructed is just to much for me. But yea dude like I said its their music and respect what they do with it. I Like their thrashier stuff though.
well, I just discovered there was something new from nevermore. I have every CD from 1996 to 2005 and I've got the two sanctuary albums. I have to say I do not like the album enemies of reality - it is totally boring for me. And this song sounds good, but it is nothing new at all.
The lyrics are not evil, it is about selfhate, it is negative as Nevermore always was. They are absolutely great, but that makes them so dangerous for depressive people like borderliners and people with dpdr etc.
@cero815 WHo decides, enemies of reality, i voyager and tomorrow turned into yesterday are all pretty awsome songs. But the rest of that cd does suck pretty bad.
who the heck, disliked this song??? how can someone dislike something so beautifully orchestrated????

Sounds more to me like the lyrics are about the wall the right-wing wants to build along the US/Mexican border.

That guitar solo starting at 2:51 is really dark...it sorta reminds me of a metal version of David Gilmour.
