  • Great video, I used this to learn the whole song on guitar! Your Losing My Religion cover is also fabulous!

  • Excellent performance. Are you using dropped D tuning on the bass?

  • rockin'!

  • god I want that rickenbacker!!!!!!

  • nice job boys, keep rocking I just got by 360 today and I will add this to my to do list.

  • You Tube at its best! Thanks for sharing

  • So I guess now I have to get an ac30. That was amazing.

  • nice cover!

  • you really get the tone this song is known for, which is a more difficult matter than just using the same gear. I'm not a semi-hollow fan or a Vox fan but the sound Buck was able to get out of that combo is really one of the great tones in rock music.

  • @helikestv Peter used a Les Paul and a Marshall for the studio version of the One I Love. His own words from Guitar World, 1996: "I’d gotten a Les Paul and a Marshall amp and I cranked it up to 11." I actually have a video of me talking about Peter's use of the LP.

  • @BucksStudent that comes as quite a shock.

  • @helikestv Not really; it sounds very LPish. So does Finest Worksong. You'll notice most of the album is only slightly distorted, yet Finest Worksong and The One I Love feature full on distortion. Rics don't do high gain very well; I once set my house alarm off from all the feedback.

  • Weel done, and excellent choice of guitars and amps!!!

  • Finally a guitarist that plays this properly, like with the riffs and slides between the Em and D on the intro. Great playing, I will be cracking off my Stratocaster to learn this tomorrow! Thanks :)

  • How can 5 people not like this? Awesome playing

  • @jel6692

The 5 people who pressed the dislike button didn't dislike it, they loved it.

  • Congratulations, man! You did a fine job!!

  • Good show

  • Great - I love it. Have you used the Vox-Amp-Overdrive or a pedal? Which? thx

  • I can only dream of being able to do this.

  • Awesome job!

  • That was great 5 stars.

  • Awesome. That Ric jangle's what got me into playing guitar, and love the tone you're getting from that Thunderbird.

  • That was actually really good. Drums could have been a bit more powerful and I believe you forgot the tom roll at the very end, but still really good!

  • You guys sound as good as REM live. Even better than the MONSTER tour.

FIRE. Don't ever go back to Rockville, okay?

  • Awesome ric playing!

  • you rock man

  • fantastic sound!!! rickenbacker - the best

  • are u using standard tunning?

im new and i want to learn this song

  • sounds really good!

  • have any of you tried a rick with a fender deluxe hot rod amp. it sounds really cool.

  • Dude. Thanks for helping me out with the lead, but can you show some more of the rythm licks in this song. Thanks again.

  • Excellent job!

  • lagal!

  • i have the same story as you, i inherited my rick from my uncle too :( except in my story its an early rickenbacker 4001 bass

  • Very nice!Thx.

  • grande!

  • so much rickenbacker yay!!!!

    nice video

  • nice : D

  • Very nice!

What amp did you use (or how did you amplify) for the Thunderbird?

  • Perfect.

    I love the Rickenbacker sound

  • nice arrangement. good job

  • So why is this vid no longer available?

  • It is. it loads up on mine fine.

  • dat was awesome

  • wow that was perfect

  • Pretty

  • excellent and a well edited video.

  • Cool thing^^

  • I need one so bad! Ive always loved the Ric/Vox sound.

  • Fantastic !! too good, I like it a lot ;)

  • Bloody hell, this Groove Agent is really something! You could have fooled me there!

  • best cover ever!

    Great job!

  • Thanks for making this vid. Great job.

  • five stars!!!!

    kisses

  • what settings did you use on your SD-1?

  • I like the maple guitar, mahogany bass combination, I don't know if you do requests, but my favorite R.E.M. song is that "don't let the sky fall on me" song, mabye it's exact name is fall on me? But great playing, and rickenbackes are famous for their trebly sound, that is why all the adds say "rickenbackers with their treble punch!!!

  • thought that it was top banana, myself. very well done, my man.

  • Great playing but way too jangly and too much treble for me. I can't stand too much treble in anything.

  • Too jangly? That's what Rickenbackers do!

  • I meant Rickenbacker + AC30 is too jangly. If it was through a twin reverb it would of been a lot thicker.

  • but thats exactly the sound rics are famous for!

  • @ stratovarious

But that´s exactly the sound rickenbacker guitars are famous for!!!

  • ALL you critics you can do better ???

  • Sweet cover, man!

  • Excuse me. The correct prog in the 2nd verses is G-D2sus-Cadd9. :-)

  • Amanzing performance!

Let me get you some advice. I would put more overdrive in the main riff and 2nd part of verses (G-A2sus-Cadd9)

    Greets!

  • Excellent job... I really enjoyed that. Very inspiring!

  • nice...but your hitting the wrong bass note in the third bar of the chorus...

  • Excellent job. Great tone and very tight!!!! I loved it!!!

  • AWESOME!

You rock, so does your Ric :)

  • I envy you for your playing and guitar!

  • how do you find the playability of it? Johnny Marr told me "you have to have the right hands to play Rickys". Any comments matey?

  • This is the reason why Youtube should give the option of 6 stars

  • rickenbackers are awesome!

  • yeah! great!

  • Mint sound dude!

  • too bad... peter buck gave the rick up long before this song.

  • No, he still has his original Ric. It's stored somewhere for safe keeping, and he plays copies of it on stage. The One I Love solo was recorded with a Les Paul.

  • Apparently, he still uses the original on tour. Well, he did until someone swiped it in Helsinki last night.

  • My theory is that he had it for recording with the band... Demos on the road, you know. I mean, I was told personally by the guy who made Peter his Ric copies (for tour), that Peter keeps the original locked up because it's so valuable.

  • @BucksStudent He has it in his house in Seattle. Vaulted. Best way tell if it is the original, he has a sticker on it like a mudflap girl. Supposedly, or so I heard, there is a small tiger sticker on the edge of the bottom half.

  • hi superb i watched as i'm buying a 360 deluxe in fireglo this weekend, what pedal ru using for drive/dist..keep em coming

  • Excellent work! and awesome rickenbacker!

  • killer tone dude

  • That's flat-out kick ass!

Those tones are so sweet I think they've made me rethink my Les Paul...

  • Before you sell that Les Paul, try one of these for lead as the scale makes bending the strings a lot more difficult than the old gibson. Why not keep it and buy a Rik too!!

  • could you please post a lesson

  • Great cover

  • Very Cool

  • This is so perfect, its gotta be Peter Buck!

  • Ohh, I so want to get a Ricky 360 after hearing this - bulk ace.

  • Nice job!

  • great... wonderful tone on both instruments - i love the guitar, especially...

    p.s.: mike mills for president^^

  • mikeyyy mills for president XD

  • Percect cover! Great!

  • Are you kidding!? The pick gives it a hella badass tone. But hey, some people prefer the tone from fingering. Either way it sound fantastic!

  • lmao if you knew shit about the thunderbird you would know that it's one of the best basses to use with a pick. noob.

  • fingerpicking is for warmer tones and pick gives u nice trebly attack kind of sound...

  • and who doesnt know that?

  • in most heavy rock bands the bassists pick, there are a few exceptions so don't make a list on heavy rock bassist who play fingerstyle. also, who wants to know shit about a substandard bass with poor fret access, neck dive problems and a retarded shape? you answer that

  • what amp are you using?

  • vox ac30 cc2

  • fucking awesome amp...i used to have one.

  • you have to do a vid of how to play this song!... on guitar of course!!!

  • THis guy is an anti genious... know everything about all that stuff and thens some.

  • WELL DONE I LOVED IT!!!

  • Wow! I HAVE to get a Ricky!!! Amazing Sound! I've always loved that sound but never realized where it came from until now! Great playing!!!

  • My god! that ricky is like....orgasm!

    i NEEED one!

  • GREAT JOB GUYS !!

Can surely Tell you both have practiced ALOT!

  • Uh... I think it's all the same guy.

  • mate youve got it spot on... exactly how id play it.. if only i had your awsome equipment!! grrr:P

  • Great job! I swear I think there's a D note missing in the E minor root chord in the verse part. On the 2nd measure of each return to the E minor chord on the verse he alternates the B open string to a D on the 3rd fret, just for the 2nd measure of the E minor chord. That's the part I remember from the original; I could be wrong.

  • Nice bass rasta

  • I Love Rickenbackers so much. The probably is that I just don't have the right hands to play them because of the necks. Johnny Marr even told me that "you've got to have the right hands to play a Ricky".

  • Peter used his Les Paul and a Marshall for the solo.

  • Good set lads, anyway does anyone know where i can hear a soundbite or maybe see a youtube posting of a Rick 650f Frisco?

  • Great performance!

  • great sound!

  • Foung R.E.M. in college-'82. Brings back mems!

  • great job, are there any decent manufacturers who make good Rickenbacker copies? I heard Ibanez used to make one but I can't find anything, I would love a real Ric but i just don't have 2 grand to spend at the moment :)

  • if you can get hold of one, try the Indie IRK 500 (i think it an english guitar). I've got one it's pretty cool. the headstock is slightly different and it's got the 'pretzel' bridge to avoid copyright.

  • or tailpiece maybe... a pretzel bridge would be plain foolish!

  • does the rickenbacker 330 sound the same as the 360? what are the differences between them? can someone tell me please

  • yep, they sound pretty much the same. i just ordered a 330 actually. the only difference is the more contoured body on the 360 and the fancier binding (i like the sharper shape of the 330 though).

  • I appreciate that, thanks dude Im gettin a 330 then

  • you won't regret it!

  • Excellent! He makes it look easy.

  • Is that bass a Gibson or Epiphone TBird? Good sound.

  • Description will tell you these things.

  • I always wondered how other rics sound... I have a 2007 Ric 4003 4 string, and its a peace of art

  • Wow! great sound!

  • Great job !!!!

  • Rickenbacker's are some of the best guitars on the market but their also the ugly est

  • I like how they look:D

  • Excellent. It was REM that inspired me to buy my Blueburst 360-6 last year. Love it more than all my other guitars.

  • spot on mate. sounds just like the original :D

  • Dude I have a Jetglo 360 also, Man it really is a cool looking guitar. of course it goes without saying how good they sound.
