You stood up to Chris Evans - and sometimes tried to wind him up! Big points for that. The Breakfast Show will have a hole the size of a planet earth-sized donut without you. It really, really won't be the same show anymore... sadly [sniff]. But, all the very best for your teaching lark! You'll be brilliant - and the fact that you not only were on radio, but on the BBC2 Breakfast Show and a sports caster should get you respect!
Jonny we will miss you in the morning and chris' show will never be the same again or chris - keep in touch and I am sure the children you go on to teach will love just as much as we do. I cried buckets at the end of chris'show. Love to you and your family and good luck. xxx
You were a great "Ant" to Chris's "Dec", I cannot imagine anyone filling your shoes so well. My drive to work will be missing a friend from hereon in. Good luck Ser Saunders and sort out the youth of today!
PS Having read out a few of my "don't forget" submissions, here's one for you. From Anne Smith to Jonny Saunders: Don't forget. You don't have to come in to the Breakfast Show on Monday :(
Jonny: I shed a few tears with you this morning as you struggled to articulate your thanks to the Breakfast crew. Your sports presentations were fun and your delivery of them just great. I will miss your cheery voice in the mornings as I wend my way up the map to work from Essex to Suffolk. I wish you well in your new career: Radio 2's loss will be the teaching profession's gain. May the road rise to meet you......
Have a wonderful time teaching, Jonny, I really hope you come to teach at my school. I'm waiting for the newsletter announcing the new teachers at my school in September to say Mr J Saunders ;)
I loved head to headlines with you and Moira, they always made me laugh, and I loved how everyone always patronised you.
Come back for a special Christmas or anniversary or birthday show please, that would be brilliant!
Good luck, best of wishes and most of all, have fun!
Thanks for the great contribution you made to the Chris Evans show, which helps me get up in the morning to face my own little pupils! It's a profession that is worthwhile and rewarding (not the best paid job, but some things are more important than money!). All the very best to you, Jonny.
Not only hoping to inspire children but also maybe those in jobs thinking they should be doing something more rewarding, perhaps giving a bit back. Well done Mr S!
OK... yes I shed a tear... so that is it then??? Don't like goodbyes.... so we'll say cheerio for now... good luck... sure your wife will be very happy now you don't have to get out of bed at such an untimely hour.... still think your nuts, but then someone has to be a teacher eh!!! Will miss the fun and laughter between you and Chris in the mornings... just know he'll miss you too, by the state he was in this morning... TaTa Jonny Saunders, all the best :o)
I will miss you every morning... you helped to make my tedious drive to work a lot less tedious.... I hope all your new pupils realise what a great asset you are... All the best

@bbcradio2 Thanks so much, Jonny, for making me laugh every morning on the Breakfast Show. The children you'll be teaching will be so lucky to have you for a teacher! Best of luck! To Radio 2 - hope you'll do a follow up with Jonny after he has settled into teaching to see how things are going and to highlight some of the points he was making about wanting to take young people seriously and to inspire them. That would be really interesting!
