To all you SF critics and prospective candidates, read "Chosen Soldier" by Dick Couch (who is a former SEAL). "I know my SEAL brothers may be surprised at this assertion, but Special Forces are the most valuable asset on this battlefield [Iraq/Afghanistan]." The following sentence: "The Special Forces soldier is the most important man in uniform--our most essential warrior."
@dsalet1 critics many i thought seals especially were some of the most loved people on earth especially after killing osama i would give an arm and a leg to talk to one of those guys!
I think sniperRobert was saying the entire Army doesn't have the best special forces, not just the National Guard.
But anyway, I had no idea the Guard had SF. I mean it makes sense now that I know about it but I would have never guessed it. What type of missions do they do stateside that require their special training? Can't "local or statewide emergencies, such as storms, drought and civil disturbances" be handled by regular units? Thanks.
Nice vid. Just wondering though, since it is the national guard, does that mean that National Guard Special Forces units are actice overseas or are they mainly based here in the U.S? Thanks! :D
The Guard has a unique dual mission, with both federal and state responsibilities. The Army National Guard can be called into action during local or statewide emergencies, such as storms, drought and civil disturbances.
In addition, the Guard can be called upon to participate in federal missions, deploying overseas to serve alongside Active Army units.
@mataleao1994 nice cause we are all on the battle field and if me and yu make it cause i want to be special forces i have o doubt that we will work together one day GO GUARD!
Thinkin bout doin this lol, looks fun and my buddy that did it said it would be pretty much like bootcamp was in the marines was for me. ;) gettem killers
@sniperRobert See if you weren't ignorant about the subject you would know that the National Guard Special Forces do the same training as the active duty Army.
the National Guard is the reserve combat forces of the Army, the Army Reserve is your support units. The National Guard has special forces, Recon/Surveillance/Target Aquisition (RSTA) units, and Long Range Surveillance (LRS) units which are Ranger qualified and attend the Leaders Recon Course, airborne, air assault, and other advanced combat schools
These guys are hardcore. The training they go through is brutal, but their small teams have more of an impact in the world than most conventional batallions.
They can say his name and show his face. Only time they do that is if they r deployed and in dangerous areas but still they don't really black out the faces usually they just change their last names. like in the documentry "Inside the Green Berets". Only time they really black out the faces is the CT Units
ya they go thru the same training and do the same missions...they are on the same deployment time line as the active duty counterparts but still considered ARNG
@omar4773 pretty much, except less demanding as green beret, and im pretty sure more than half of the national guard special forces are previous enlisted special operations in any branch.
Can a Guard Soldier apply to Ranger School?
Bigtyme17 4 months ago in playlist More videos from nationalguard
@Bigtyme17 yes, theres a 2 week "mini ranger school" you attend thats optional for regular army and mandatory for national guard
chevygearhead454 4 months ago
@chevygearhead454 What is this mini ranger school that's mandatory for the guard? Every unit in the U.S. has to do it??
Bigtyme17 1 month ago
@Bigtyme17 Yes the can! We do not have any Ranger units but you can receive the training and wear the tab!
