I think it's fair to compare the two to some extent. There are similarities, although the points of both games are entirely different. Stil, Metroid is a bit more original, I think. Halo may have been one of the first in the "badass space marine" trend, but it's still just that, a (fun) FPS. There is no series like Metroid, and no one even dares try to imitate Prime. As fun as it is shooting things in the face, I'll choose the atmosphere, lore, and puzzles of Prime any day.

Comparing Halo and Metroid is like comparing Mass Effect and Final Fantasy. Actually, it's even worse because although Mass Effect and Final Fantasy are wholly different games, two sides of a spectrum, at least Mass Effect and Final Fantasy both count as RPGs. While Halo and Metroid (Prime as well) aren't even in the same genre. Halo is a shooter, while Metroid is an action adventure. If you think comparation is legit, go on and say space shoot'em'ups are better than flight simulators.

I love this music. The droning of the sound effects are awesome. The one thing though I wish they could have done was not play the battle music until after Samus is detected instead of setting foot in the next room. That would be much creepier.

I am a fan of Metroid obviously, however I don't really know much about Halo so I can't judge. Personally I don't think there's any connection at all between the two. But I know for a fact that Halo came first because it was released in 2001 and Metroid Prime was released in 2002. That's really why I'm confused.

Halo did come before Metroid Prime, however, Metroid 1, Metroid 2 and Super Metroid were released far earlier than Halo. Metroid 1, in fact, was released over 20 years ago.

Metroid Prime wasn't really "Zelda meets Halo", as it was simply a 3d re-imagining of the series. The only similarities between Halo and Metroid in their mechanics is that they are both "shooters" in first person; the actual movement and objectives are vastly different.
