  • I like it. I like the fact your using a shorter file than most use. I find this more convenient. Taking light passes with the file you have works perfect. You don't need the 18" flat ground, expensive stuff that most people use. I still think your bearing a little too hard though. Go one direction also. A file only really cuts in one direction.

GREAT video though. Oh, protect the soundboard also.

  • @nolobede Est-ce tout ce que vous avez à offrir? C'est triste LMAO

  • @nolobede ROTFLMMFAO it took you 2 days to figure out I was speaking Irish and NOW we see that you can't spell trying to respond. CLASSIC STUPID MC! LMMFAO

  • @nolobede It is becomming more and more clear that the only college courses you ever had involved testing pharmaceuticals.

  • @nolobede "We're glad you can read, too bad you can't understand the words. Got a big sister?... maybe she can explain it all to you."

? WTF R U talking about now? So let me see if I can understand what you are doing here. Since I have prone to you that you are a moron you are now going to take an insane approach in an attempt to get me too leave you alone. You sure go out of your way to be a narcissistic troll. keep up that up, it suits you so well. DUMBASS LMAO

  • @nolobede There is no need for you to believe it stupid. All one would have to do is Google you screen name and read your lies for them self. Really nolobedo is this all you have? How pathetic LMAO

  • @MrRichardKranium

We're glad you can read, too bad you can't understand the words. Got a big sister?... maybe she can explain it all to you.

  • @nolobede That's not a nice thing to say about your mother. She's made mistakes too, but she fixed all of them when she dumped your useless ass No Lobedo. lmao

  • @nolobede Didn't I already tell you this? Are you that pathetic that you have to repeat what I already told you because you can't think of anything original to say? Your education is starting to show again you stupid Mc. ROTFLMMFAO Get a life you poser loser, do something more with yourself instead of being a self absorbed word-nazi troll. I know "spell checking" is the only thing you have shown here to be any good at, but there is other things that makes life less boring, even for you.

  • @MrRichardKranium

You're adolescent rantings are boring MrDickHead

    Nobody gives a fuck, troll.

  • @nolobede Your bored because you have no imagination. It is a common trait among ppl who lack education. I see I have to correct you again on what a "Troll" is because you seem confused on what it takes to be one.

  • @nolobedo For example, Someone makes a video, in that video they almost get hit by a car, so they say “Thank God”. Now, most people watching the video would respond with “Be careful!” But a troll would think differently. A troll comments this:

“What do you mean ‘thank god’? There is no god, god doesn’t exist! But you’re too stupid to understand that! Try making the sign of the cross again, I hope you get distracted and another car hits you!” I can find 5 yrs of you doing only this TROLL:)

  • @nolobede Let me ask you a stupid question ( your bound to get one right) What makes you think I would care if you are bored? Or anyone else for that matter. The truth of the matter is my "adolescent rantings" as you trollishly called it is beyond your range of comprehension. Your proving to be extremely stupid on these comment boards. It is too bad that your bored but what is more unfortunate for you is, I am not bored. ROTFLMMFAO keep that in mind you stupid "boring" McNoLobedo.

  • @nolobede By the way Word-Nazi, "Postgraduate" is STILL misspelled on your channel and has been like that for 5 years. You might want to fix that before you lie about you education to anyone else, we don't want you looking any more of a fool then you have already made yourself out to be now do you No Lobedo? LMMFAO

  • @nolobede

Are you asking me to remind you how stupid you are, again. OK, I can see you are still having problems with your "attention span issue", but to spare you any further humiliation I will give you a chance to ask an intellectual question, and when I say intellectual it does not mean a rhetorical question like what you just asked. By the way I will answer your question the same way I do every time it is asked, ready, SCROLL UP AND READ IT STUPID! Does that help you out dipshit. ROTFLMFAO

  • God, I hate that fucking hump where the fretboard joins the body... thus how StewMac got all of my fucking money.

  • one high fret, and he is filing it - and another dozen alongside at the same time. This man is an animal, not a craftsman. File and measure is the name of the game. Always measure.

  • @donepearce Wow, I didn't know you had played my guitar and knew how many frets were high. It was more than just one, the neck was unplayable in the upper registers because of multiple problems with high frets and lack of built in fall-away.

  • @PeteDuBaldo dont worry petebaldo.. this guy was talking crap to a great PRS tech apparently hes the best fret dresser in the world. which i doubt he's ever dressed a neck

  • Stew Mac gotcha good!

  • those diamond files are neat

  • 1:25 lmao

  • I agree 110 percent especially when this bozo jokingly sez oopps twice.

  • Guys, it is a beater guitar and Tommy and I joke around all the time about breaking it.

  • HI what brand is this nice guitar and what model ?

  • Cort Earth 1200, it was discontinued a few years ago.

  • "2:17-2:40"

That's suppose to be the tips on fret leveling? The video is almost 6 minutes long. The few seconds he is talking you can't hear half of it because he's making so much noise.

Doesn't really matter but the description is way misleading. It's not informative at all about fret leveling or explaining anything he is really doing.

  • What? Why does this video even say anything about tips on fret leveling? All I see is someone grinding down the frets without any explanation of what he is doing then proceding to show off his guitars and start playing.

  • 2:17-2:40

  • What was that sweet little celtic tune you

started out on in drop D tuning?

  • lol guitar surgery

  • the post below was actually me. i didn't realize my son was signed on....

  • this was just a import beater. it needed a neck reset to properly fix, but the owner just wanted it to play........w/o a large unjustified expense in time & money.

the repair was very effective....& the owner was thrilled .......as it was unplayable before.

  • If this is for real, that guy is a hack... I wouldn't let him work on my Esteban..

  • Did not realize that was really you until I saw the eyebrow go up! Awesome axes. Awesome playing. Keep doing what your were meant to do.

Best to you and your family.

    les

  • HEY SK8RA,your dad rocks!!!!i heard a little shredding inbetween that litlle aucoustic balad!!!!sounded beautifull...especially when he droped that e string...you got a cool dad...god has blessed you...peace.

  • Yeah maybe he can fix guitars but I bet he cant play smoke on the water:)

  • dont think u watched the end lol

  • thats my dad!!!!!!!!!!! hahaha and for the dick below me, my dads been fixing guitars longer than you've been alive.... he knows what hes doing

  • @sk8ra

He's not been fixing guitars as long as I have been alive. But I've been repairing stringed instruments for 25 years, and I ALWaYS protect the fingerboard when doing fret work. And WITHOUT doing it he WILL be damaging fretboards when leveling like that, no matter how long he's been doing it. looks like he does good work, but that's no reason for laziness or complacency on someone else's guitar.

    Respect.

  • @nolobede ok anyway, fuck you its not laziness its the way he does it, have fun doing it your way and posting comments on youtube just like the little kids. and i dont need some random youtube user telling me or my dad what to do. so you can take it some where else

  • @sk8ra

So "fuck you" is your response? That, is like a little kid don't you think?

My point, is that yes, it is lazy and his "oops" joke is just vindication that his method increases the number of times he slips and causes damage as opposed to those that takes the additional steps of covering the instrument. Hence as a customer, I would choose to go elsewhere.

Wanna see someone who does it right? search youtube video "walmouth strat build." Give your Dad a lesson.

  • @nolobede yea its my response. and if you think its soooo important, yhou give him a lesson when he gets back from being with deep purple's guitar player all over the world. you better pencil him in now for your "lesson"

  • @sk8ra

Deep purple ... Who ?... Oh yeah, they're lucky to be able to stand up at their age. A guitar tech for a touring band is suppose to impress ? No, there are plenty out there and I'd bet the majority do the job right.

I know he's your Dad, and youu feel the need to defend him, granted.

But simply, he takes shortcuts and that is a not quality priority method, and say alot about the rest of his work then. Good at it or not, it's bad practice, and disrespectful of the owner/customer.

  • @nolobede

Maybe deep purple likes the "relic" look, or they just can't see anymore, but when guitars leave my hands, they play sound AND LOOK better than when I got them.... no new scratches, dents or beer stains. I repair what I am asked to repair without causing new damage (unless they want that relic look).

Again, it's all about respecting the instrument and the owner.

  • @nolobede Maybe you just like to hear your own voice nolobedo? Their is a difference between "lazy" and "stupid", from what you have expressed here today shows both.

  • @MrRichardKranium

Remind me again, why would I give a fuck what a DickHead would have to say?

  • @nolobede well, were in America, so i win. the end

  • @sk8ra Was there something to "win" here ?... are you 12?

  • @nolobede no you guessed wrong by 6 years im 18, so your wrong again, so i double win. americaaaaaaaa

  • @sk8ra

Ah, 6 years off, I would've guessed six years the other way then, cause you act like your 6. And since your profile states that you are 20, that makes you a lying immature little man too.

  • @nolobede ill fix it just for you then sir. and i feel like your jealous because you just some post grad from UMich and MIT, "applied tech". while i have a full ride to UVirginia for law and ill be doing something with myself making money, while you are stuck on youtube critiquing videos and talking shit.

  • @sk8ra

If you'll be litigating, you'll want to prioritize accuracy as Judge Judy will eat you alive for lying in court. My academic credentials are a result of many years of hard work without taking shortcuts, hence the reason I wouldn't take an instrument to your shop. I am on you tube researching as I am a luthier as well, but my academic history had allowed me to retire at 41, and I did it honestly, something you'll need if you hope to become a respectable UV grad.

    They don't like liars.

  • @nolobede

If you pronounce the words "lawyer," and "liar" repeatedly in succession, you'll notice very little difference between the two. .

  • @nolobede A. its not my shop, nor is it his shop. If you read above comments from the user who posted this, its a piece of shit guitar that they didnt care about B. if your a retired 41 year old fighting with an 18 year old on youtube, you need to find a hobby. and C. i have no reason to lie, and i will very much enjoy the hard work ahead of me because taking shortcuts in school os completely pointless. So, in hindsight i regret arguing with you. It has wasted my time and got me no where. im out

  • @sk8ra

Yes, I need a hobby. Building string instuments is what I do now. That's why I am on you tube... not to spunker with a kid.

"taking shortcuts in school is completely pointless"

If you know that, then the discussion wasn't completely pointless.

Maybe that's what you'll take away from our discussion because it is true. Shortcuts are expensive in the long run. That was the point. Quality work will always pay off. I'm lucky, I don't need to work, all the more reason to avoid shortcuts.

  • If he had levelled the board first, he could have preserved the fret height.

  • sorry again but i was actually asking a question there. can any one help ? or direct me to a youtube page?

  • would ye not think its better to take the wire off and sand the wood down? I have same problem and done similar work to another guitar but dont have a fret rounder. I got Stu mD convex fingerboard things to get right roundness in wood. I dont want 2 compromise

  • I always have a feeling that people emphasise wrong musical gods. Judging by Pete and other luthiers I am always amazed how they can warm up the instrument just by playing it.

If a luthier shreds or jams on a guitar the tonal structure will always have more sense than when played by let's say Satriani (just making a comparison). I am not talking about particular song but just that 'TV' guitar playing where you try or show the guitar and skills. Pete FTW!

  • LOVE IT!!!! That's my bro...always joking along with being a workaholic...LOL

  • So, I guess real pros don't need to tape the fingerboard? Thanks, nice video, nice guitars.

  • i cant hear him over the grinding, subtitles please?

  • Tommy always sounds great!! From, Eddie Van doinker!!

  • Dude you got some serious axes there!! Where do you live? LOL! Good job. God bless.

  • One of the most enjoyable pieces of playing i've seen on youtube.

  • Nice pickin'

  • the y2d's, the luke, the albert...they're nice and all, but it's the EB clock that I really covet!

  • Awesome.
