  • y1hardtop,what is being pulled in is not a liner,lol...This is the new ABS pipe of the same 4" diameter as the old one.The new pipe is attached to a steel cone larger than the old pipe that is being pulled through that old pipe bursting it to pieces and pushing the shards by shear force (even up to 28,000 lbs)into the surrounding ground(soil or hard-pan - it does not matter)thus making a horizontal hole for the black ABS pipe which is being dragged just behind it.

  • oh okay thanks for the advice

  • So What are the times when digging should be required

  • aresps, sometimes one has to dig, that is true.Especially when the line is twisting left and right (which is contrary to the plumbing codes, btw). But the method works on 9 out of 10 houses,so it is well worth using.

Compared with traditional digging by hand it is abou 20 (twenty) times faster.I dug out so many sewers myself that this system is a blessing.Quiet and goes 15 feet/hour.

    God bless!

  • aresps, digging is required when the line is installed with many offsets, either horizontal or vertical ones.Otherwise we just press the button and the machine does the work for us.
