  • Leftwich was a heisman contender in college and was an extremely great qb. Injuries and del rio plagued his career. this is probably the greatest example of teamwork I've ever seen. Broke his shin which hurts alot and that was his plant foot and his lineman took care this is not just a team it's a family

  • still one of the most memorable moments in college football in my opinion. i mean how many times do you see someone with a broken LEG! not a rib, not a wrist, a LEG and continue going. and the support of his teammates is incredible as well

  • Barnwell

  • I think that this, coupled with his performance in the 2001 GMAC Bowl should definitely cement Byron Leftwich as one of the best players in college football over the last 15 years. Byron Leftwich and David Gerrard faced in that Bowl game and ironically would become teammates in the NFL.

  • Wow.

  • Definition of Put-the-team-on-my-back-dude.

  • some things r very important to people, like teammates

  • This was CLASSIC!!! and jay cutler lmao!!!! hahaha

  • Thats guts and glory! kudos Byron and O-line! Totally sucks you only got so far in your QB'n Jag days! It's not your fault tho! After seeing that, i'd been cheering for y''all as my 2nd fave team back then! 98% of all other QBs wouldve went to sideline and sissy'd out. We wish you a speedy recovery from your injury you suffered in the Atl vs Pit Week 3 2011 preseason game. I hope you really aren't done for the season. We may need you!

  • Jay cutler should see this video

  • The only reason that Byron is a backup is because Mr.Del Rio doesn't like people that speak their mind, and he would rather have a guy like Garrard who does anything that he says, but sucks. I mean come on, Byron could come off the bench right now and easily be a starter in Jacksonville, but that will never happen as long as Del Rio is there.

  • @HamMan1997 ...are you stupid? Byron is no longer with the Jaguars, he's a back up in Pittsburg.

  • Now thats how you run a no huddle offense.

  • Announcers completely down players how epic this was.

  • see and thats why we need to give props to the lineman. leftwich is badass, but some props to guys who help protect the quarterback!

  • Is that Michael Reghi?

  • Looks like i got beat to the cutler comments...

  • Good on you, Byron. Same goes for Tebow for running for a 20 yard TD on his broken leg in HS. Even Philip Rivers played with a torn ACL. Cutler on the other hand, leaves with a sprain. What a coward.

  • This guy is "No Quiter"! Injury or not Cutler Quit on his teammates and the fans.

  • Jay Cutler or Gay Cutler???

  • Can some body please show this video to jay cutler .

  • So it's safe to say Cutler is the anti-Leftwich?

  • not jay cutler

  • Somewhere Leftwich is still laughing at Cutler

  • @thedigitalhighlander leftwich has been the back up for the steelers for about 3 years now

  • byron, u are unbelievable! GO HERD!!!

  • "that's my teamate, that's my quarterback" -Terrel Owens

  • thats my coach Steve Sciullo carring him down the field

  • Awesome TEAMWORK! That is why I love sports.

  • Awesome TEAMWORK!

  • If this ever happens again, the play who does it should win a Heisman... like Byron should have, lol.

  • WE ARE MARSHALL!

  • THE NFL NEED MORE BYRON TYPE PLAYERS.

  • That has to be the greatest act of teamwork I have ever seen!! N Byaron has got to the one the hardest hardcor QBs ever to the GAME!!! MAD RESPECT!!

  • THAT is a team

  • ajdewey2vc15, he is in the pros

  • Football is missing hard-nose people like this.

  • Thats actually the coolest shit ever

  • wow and it was his left shin! his plant foot and he still threw that deep bomb right on point, byron is the man

  • @jjjhs08 Wish he was still with the Jags. He's the man!!

  • Good story....I got recruited by Marshall to play baseball, on my visit the head coach told me that Leftwich used to come by practice and bug him to let him pitch. With no idea what he was doing he put him up on the mound: 96 95 95 96 95.... just a raw athlete and one tough son of a bitch

  • Playin w/ a broken shin takes heart, thats mad heart. I've always had respect for him for havin so much heart.

  • this is amazing. one tough qb. wish he could have been great in the pros.

  • The MAC was so cool back then with Daunte Culpepper at UCF, Leftwich at Marshall, etc

  • This video brings a tear to my eye everytime I watch it.

  • Byron Leftwich is one tough dude. Kudos to his O-lineman for helping him on that play.

  • @buckeyes71077 Hahahaha, this is great, the lineman named sciullo works at my high school now and is one of the line coaches on my footall team.

  • there was a period in the early 2000's were MAC games were always just high scoring, exciting games

  • I remember one game against the Colts. The Jags lost 10-3, and Byron kept getting pounded and pounded and pounded. And STILL took it to the Colts defense, limping down the field.

I've NEVER seen anyone withstand the beatings that Leftwich has taken.

  • no way in hell im playing with a broken leg great heart tho

  • I think this may be one of the most inspirational moments in college football history!!!! incredible, if i had a broken leg i really doubt I would be out there playing.

  • That's what's college football is all about..... TEAM.

    Go Herd !!!

  • Byron always has had a ton of heart. You could see it back when he was with the Jags to. I think people make him out to be worse than he was-he was a decent starter and he had some moments during his days as a jag. This is a great video.

  • Byron's downfall was injury. He's not a bad QB at all, as a matter fact, he could've saved Atlanta in 07 had he been able to stay upright.

  • we are MARSHALL!!!

  • CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR SUPERBOWL WIN! "Even though i'm a steeler, i still bleed the green, and not that forrest green either.." haha WE LOVE YOU BYRON GO HERRRRRDDDD!!!

  • broken leg and still playin..very rare you see that type of heart

  • That goes up with Merrick's gw field goal in the '92 national title game, Davis' gw td in the '01 GMAC bowl, and any Moss TD in the '96 season as one of the greatest moments in Herd football history.

  • this is even better cause michael reghi is calling this

  • he deseved the hiesman that year

  • I agree! I was just telling my wife about this the other day! I remember watching this game! I will always like him for this game!

  • One of the greatest things I've ever seen

  • i gotta give bryon a ton of respect for this play GO HERD!!

  • wow, now that's what i'm talkin' about! a TEAM effort!

  • Thats what teamis all about!!

  • Love you Byron! Even though you are gone, you are always a member of the Herd to us!

  • This was so epic

  • AGREED! GO HERD!
