  • how low is your miata?

  • whats your guesstimate on how much this setup would cost? im debating about a V8 setup

  • @370zlover23 Typically $10-15k assuming you already have the car.

  • i love it when you say -- oh yea its carbed

  • Awesome!

  • SWEET....best looking miata v8 I've seen.

I like the way the carbureted motor looks a lot better than the fuel injected ones. It gives it more of a race car look and feel.

Got any 1/4 mile time slips yet ?

  • that motor sounds great!

  • ... speechless.

  • I couldn't envision a better V8 miata. Your work is in very good taste. Awesome car, and job well done!

  • yeah first thing that could come to mind if that rolled up next to me at a stop light....wtf?!?!?!

  • @carrionpvp That has certainly happened more than once. The comments are usually pretty entertaining.

  • @TopdownMX5 lol i love mazdas tho, im currently driving a 06' m3. if i could stuff a small v8 into it and still have the car balanced i would do it in a heart beat IF i could aford that XD

  • Great Sound and nice Work :-)

  • 331 sounds nasty! Outstanding work; you can tell you took your time and did everything right... not quick. Everything looks amazing. It's an all around well put together car.

I'm planning a build myself and would love your input. How did you start? Did you allready have a miata or did you buy a junked roller miata? Do you think it matters? How about the motor... did you build it for this car or pull the stroker out of a mustang? Any other advise you can think of is greatly appreciated

  • @dsm350hp Thanks. Engine was a build up from a bare block that was machined at Kennedy Performance. Worked with them to select just about every component of the engine. Ran it in on an engine dyno before putting it in the car (see my other videos if interested). I started with a miata already owned and had been modifying already. Best advice I can give you is TAKE YOUR TIME. Don't rush it. I spent 2 years doing it. See topdownmx5(dot)com and click Conversion Details for my build page.

  • quite a beauty, i want one xD

  • OH MY GOD that is amazing, thats better than my dad putting a 5.0 HO in a 90 Rx7, i bet thats a joyto drive

  • @dixitraditions77 Thanks!

  • @dixitraditions77 agreed man, there's something killer about showing a big v8 in this cute frog looking car :)

  • Congratulations on finishing yours, it sounds nasty!

  • what type of bumper kit do u have on it? im looking for something like that plz reply

  • The front bumper is a Racing Beat Type II nose. The rear bumper is also from Racing Beat, but I had it modified by a local bodyshop (SRC Collision in Lexington, KY) by adding in a 2nd cutout on the left side to match the one on the right.

  • I love the stance and sound of your miata. I am still debating whether I do a swap to mine or not. maybe next winter I'll get the ball rolling. thanks for posting

  • wow!!! do u have any mufflers ??? how much power u making!! good work!!

  • Thanks. Yes, two Magnaflow mufflers. I recently added in a couple additional "powerstick" mufflers in addition to the Magnaflows to lessen the drone at 1800-2200rpm (marginally helped). Engine peaked 412hp on an engine dyno but I haven't been on a chassis dyno yet. Probably 325-350hp at the wheels.

  • NA! Nice.

  • How strong is a stock Miata rear end to be putting the power of a 331 through it? I'm looking to do either an LS1 into an RX7 or a 302 into a Miata...

  • A 90-93 miata rear end is not strong. I blew mine in short time w/ less than 200hp. A 94-05 rear is stronger; probably ok for a mild V8 and tires that aren't too sticky. I have a 7.5 IRS from a Thunderbird and it's holding fine. Some go to the 8.8 IRS, not so much for the strength but for gear sets that are available. If you do a 302 in a miata, I would just stick w/ a 7.5 IRS diff and axles from Monster Miata. You'll save some headaches.

  • badass! sounds sick from such a small car

  • sounds fuckin awesome brother

  • Congratulations on a tough job well done! I hope you have many years of fun with your Miata!

  • You're my hero, Leebo!!!!
