Scott stapp has never been gifted vocally, he had a somewhat decent harsh lower vocal range, but he tries to sing in a range that he can't. Also after watching a video from both creed and alter bridge it looks like tremonti puts out a lot more emotion with alter bridge.

i went and saw creed last night and im glad to say that the real scott stapp is back! he had absolutely no pitchy problems and he didnt take all of the shortcuts with his singin on this song it was amazing and he was spot on with rain also theyre makin the 2009 tour look like shit with the 2010 one just check out any of the new fan vids

One of the main reasons was they were contractually obligated to do so, due to the original deal they had with Wind-up. two,Stapp doesn't take care of his voice and hasn't since the early days. Plus the guitars are detuned to drop B, an extremely low tuning which displaces his tone somewhat. He will never regain the voice he had, which is sad cause in the early days he had power behind it.

he finally got to break out of his shell when he played with Alter Bridge, i wouldn't bet against him basically saying im not going to do a damn thing on this album unless i can shred on almost every song...because the stuff was so simple pre- Alter Bridge .... pretty much anyone could learn to play a Creed song on guitar and learn everyone of them fairly quickly.... I did, im just sayin

myles kennedy is just as good live and pushes his voice even more than in the studio...

bruce dickinson from iron maiden is wicked live, better than in the studio, james hetfield also....

so yeah a lot of people can sing live as well as they do in the studio... scott stapp cant, fact.
