i don't hate this pick... but there were at least 5 other guys available that would have been better picks. we don't need a point guard! ronnie price is deron's backup! what we do need is a guy who can play defense and be a big man in the paint, not another guard...
i have been a vcu fan for a long time and maynor has been one of the best point guards in the nation for the last three years and he has been possibly the best pg at making offense out of nothing
he has a tony parker like floater and infinite range and he will probably develop into a chris paul like point guard
mayb not as good but he was a great choice at 20th pick
i am very excited! i hope you root for the jazz now :)
i only saw him play a few times, but if i have to compare him to somebody, would mo williams be a fair comparison? they seem sort of similar in style, both are good clutch shooters. i am eager to see him play in the summer league!
if you think about it though we're pretty set at every position so i mean whoever we picked in the 2nd round you could make the argument of "don't we have so and so already?"
hey jthkmc, instead of complaining about the pick, why don't you inform all of us who the jazz SHOULD HAVE selected? fact is, there were ZERO great defensive players available at #20 in the draft. maynor is a proven winner with a nice all-around game and i think it was a good pick
brevin was a great defensive player and brought leadership to the team. i liked him as a back-up no matter what other jazz fans say... i do remember jazz fans loved the guy the first month of the season and quickly turned on him after that... but yea, i do love this pick, maynor seems like a much more well-rounded player than knight (who i admit didn't have much of an offensive game).
you would have taken Cunningham with the #20 pick??? The way i see it is we really didn't have a glaring need (except maybe a big time defensive stopper, but none were available with our pick). maynor was probably the best player on the board, probably the "safest" pick, and he'll be able to learn behind the best guard in the nba! i definitely wouldn't say it was a "disappointing" pick
Maynor is a solid pick. A replacement for Knight. The Sutton pick deserves a WTF reaction though. Don't we have Koufus already? Or maybe that's for Memo/Boozer insurance?
knights not coming back and price is a free agent(though we will probably resign him) so again that is 3 point guards like sloan likes it. The JAzz can draft, will just have to wait and see and enjoy the orlando summer league.
yea, i really wanted tyler, he would have fit perfect with the jazz! i sort of knew he wouldn't drop to 20 though, but i was a little surprised to see him go as soon as he did

What summer league?
Tyehao 2 years ago
they usually play in a summer league, the rookies and young players trying to make the team
Tinkidink 2 years ago
Yeah I know but the Rocky Mountain Revue is no more. Which summer league are they playing in this summer?
Tyehao 2 years ago
i'm not sure yet, i haven't heard. they better be in a summer league, i love watching those every year!
Tinkidink 2 years ago
orlando pro=summer league, july 6-10

i do liek the jazz now haha
but i don't think mo williams is quite right because maynor is more of a driving point guard with a good outside game while mo williams is reverse
a lot of guys have said a less effective chris paul with a better shot and i think thats quite accurate

well i am excited to watch him play. he has a chance to be the main back-up to deron if he does well over the summer.

Williams will get this guy ready. He is a true point guard. Hes another Billups with a floater out of this earth. Lucky to have him

Jazz fans... remember when VCU beat Duke in the NCAA tourny? Yeah - that was because of this guy. Maynor rocks! So excited about his NBA draft :0)

if Suton heads overseas then that's salary off the books which is better than anything else we could have gotten there
