@honogo4 I know Sailor Moon, I grew up with it and I'm a fan of it, still trying to watch every bit, including movies. Sailor Moon is one of the most influential and popular series out there with a strong following, just because YOU don't know anyone who likes it, doesn't mean it's unpopular
@blackyoshi1230 I wouldn't have any other director do the Hobbit...The Lord of the Rings movies were works of art and I'm sure he will put the same beauty into the Hobbit.
seeing this movie, I can't help but wonder: how is Peter Jackson going to do this? I mean, come on, there are thirteen dwarves, plus Bilbo and Gandalf, how is that gonna work on screen? I hear, in the beginning, Frodo (Elijah Wood) is gonna open the Red Book and starts to read Bilbo's story, and that's how the movie is gonna begin.. but from there, I don't know
Martin Freeman is going to bring Bilbo alive... he's a good actor, and finally gotten his real big break. He is well cast, trust me, I've seen most of his work.
I hope this song is covered in a solo for the "lighter" teaser/theatrical trailer... just like how "there and back again" was used in the "Supertrailer". I suspect Frodo will actually only appear at the end of it, and the film will be narrated or opened by old Bilbo as he is writing the book.
I think this song would feel a bit out-of-place in the Peter Jackson version... but perhaps an instrumental version of it could be worked into the score somehow? That might work.
In a hole in the ground, there lived a hobbit. Many ages ago, when this ancient planet was not quite so ancient, long before man recorded his history, it was the time of Middle-Earth, when man shared his days with elves, dwarves, wizards, goblins, dragons and hobbits. In the lands of Middle-Earth, in an area known as the Shire, there was a village named Hobbiton. There, in a hole in the ground, lived a hobbit.
*sighs* Think this song reminds me of my younger days, when the world still seemed unexplored and unknown and it seemed like life could be a grand adventure...
Love it if they got the rights to this to use in the upcoming Hobbit movie. They could redo it in a nice orchestral version or enya version or something. This song as never left my head in over thirty years. Be nice to hear it in the live action Hobbit
this song is great and has true to life meaning, enen into days world. Lemmiwinks!! lol. but really a great song and book and cartoon. this is soo moving.
I kept signing this song in my head during graduation and the very moment I walked outside my high school I could do nothing else but smile and cry. Where has the beauty in magic gone folks?
I like this style and the other version that came out. I don't like anime much anymore (or really ever did) because it was soooo much the same style for every single character. The older anime was much better.
What happened to movies like this? I remember all the Rankin/Bass films vividly from my childhood, and enjoy them tremendously still today. I can not for the life of me understand what has gone so wrong with the world that no one sees any need for beauty or magic anymore...
I know - everything must be explained in easy to read, easy to understand, words. there are no more morals in stories or movies and no one will take the time to watch or read classics . . . so sad.
It's still there, you just have to look for it. You won't find it in modern cinema though, they are too preoccupied with making stupid films about nothing of great importance, and when they do attempt a classic, they modernize it and add that Hollywood 'nobody laughs' humor to it and it's no longer the same. I agree it is very sad.
Ah, the nostalgia.... I haven't seen this movie in so long, but I was amazed to find I could still sing along to the song. I watched it over and over again when I was little, then read the book for the first time as a teenager and adored it. Great, song, great movie, great book. You just can't go wrong with Tolkien -- well, if you ignore the animated adaptation of The Lord of the Rings.
Oh wow....this brings back so memories. I don't really remember the movie much at all, since I was so young when I watched it. But most of this song stuck with me. Beautiful.
I live/rent a friend's basement in which past renters have left records. I call it The Shire. Today I found a record by Glenn and I was overjoyed. I decided to look him up. How fantastic to find this. So appropriate in voice and words! It is filling the Shire. Thanks so much for posting.
Not until now, though i can see it as a phrase. I can't hear a B or a K, it sounds like "gra-v" to me, which is alot more similar to grave than to break. Likewise "Graving" your life would mean that you're creating it as you will, all your life long, "Breaking" would just be the very start. Though only fools refuse to accept they're wrong, so i'm open for correction if someone can point me towards where to find lyrics?
I'm sorry, you're just completely wrong here. The line "the mold of your life is in your hands to break" has the meaning "you now have the chance to distinguish yourself from everyone else".
Especially considering that hobbits generally lead pastoral lives, having the "greatest adventure" would certainly break the mold.
"Grave" makes absolutely no sense in that context. I'm not even a native english speaker and I find you suggesting that he is saying "grave" to be absurd.
This movie is one of the greatest animation achievements of all time. The detail and emotion bestilled upon the characters and enviroments is really quite astounding

The greatest adventure is what lies ahead
Today and tomorrow are yet to be said
The chances the changes are all yours to make
The mold of your life is in your hands to break.
The greatest adventure is there if you are bold
Let go of the moment that life makes you hold
To measure the meaning can make you delay
Its time you stop thinking and wasting the day.
