Oblivion is a great game I'm playing it now along with skyrim but they or both good games amazing stories diffrences include skyrim better graphics better talk mechanics to me that's it oblivion less graphics but is an elder scrolls game graphics arnt that bad and u should still be able to enjoy just hive it a chance but don't compare the two a five year diffrence

Both Oblivion and Skyrim are great games. And yes, you will understand Skyrim without playing the previous games. The stories of each TES game are NOT connected at all. Well, except for the setting

Oblivion - If you like a "medieval" setting with trees and hills. This one's colorful..

Skyrim - If you want a more "believable story", prefer a Viking look over a medieval one and prefer detailed and less colorful graphics.

Just got a copy of the 5th Anniversary Edition of this game, then started looking for a old GOTY Editon strategy guide on Amazon and Ebay cuz the Gamestops near my house don't have it and the book stores can't get it nether, so anyway when I did find it on Amazon and Ebay the guide cost 2 to 10 times more then the game itself. So they need to re-release the GOTY Edition guide or make a 5th Anniversary Edition guide cuz thats crazy to pay $30 for the game and $60 plus a guide!

oblivion is awesome because to a greater extent then a lot of games, it doesnt feel like you are just acting out a movie script. you are the director in a sense.. i havnt played a lot of rpg games but i know a lot of them can be linear but they try to mask it and make it feel like it isnt linear.

@david90759 i agree there are a lot of things that could be better, just like any game. i agree it could be more interactive, when i play a game, i dont like the AI's to FEEL blatently like they are robots. they say and do the same shit over and over again it seems, the lvling system is lame 2 how the world lvls up with u. but as far as the different classes, NON-linear huge world/quests, bein able to buy ur own house, rob and mug people, all the different spells, mods..etc. its great there.
