There are far too many similarities in their interiors. Costa is afterall the European version of Carnival. The design element in all of Carnival is shared throughout the company. Nothing is original, nothing raises the bar. Carnival is intentionally cheap which is disappointing. Give me Disney cruise any day. At least they aren't afraid to spend to create an original atmosphere. As a matter of fact they are recognized for over spending on their clients.
the disney cruise i went on sucked horribly there was nothing to do it might have been fun if i was 9 years old and also about the quantity not quality if you were making billions of dollars a year off the process you were using would you change it? no i dont think so
As a loyal Carnival customer I can see why you'd not like Disney. I liked it for the quality of my surroundings and the service. In many ways I was just grateful it wasn't another Vista clone designed by Mr. Farcus! You have a point, why tamper with what works. On the other hand using that philosphy throughout the brands has diminshed them. What makes these lines a premium company when it is the same ships, designers, cabins and food? the PR reps! that's it. Carnival is coping Disney now!
well i do not think they are by any means diminished considering they are still by far the biggest cruise line in the world and unfortunately i dont think disney cruise line will ever be in the same league as Carnival Corp. disney probably should have just stuck to theme parks and also disney copying carnival, well truthfully disney has copied carnival considering carnival was formed in 1972 and disney cruises in 1998 and carnival entrepenued the more kid themed cruising
Carnival should be impressed..not many "passengers" would be so loyal online..nor know when the company was formed! But you have proven my point, to you and Carnival "bigger is better". And why not share that philosphy w/all the other brands as well w/in the group. That approach has made other companies like Celebrity, Disney, RCL and NCL more attractive because they are not more of the same! Disney has recieved accolades for their ships, more than the "Dream" ever will for certain.
well the reason i know is because my father is very high up in carnival cruise lines so i follow it closely and have been on nearly every ship on the fleet(still not Freedom or Splendor) anyway im tired of replying on this so lets just agree to disagree lol all cruise lines are great and they provide me with the best vacation ever!
As am I..though I figured I was not dealing with just another passenger.
In closing Carnival's approach has been a huge success financially for the arena for which they wish to play which is a quantity company. But given all their resources globally to consistently give the public the same sort of ship time after time in all their divisions has for me made them extremely unattractive. I just wish someone like your dad would say "is this the best we can do"?
Carnival is the single most disappointing cruise line out there. All their designs are recycled and modified in only the slightest way (so as to not make them too expensive). Their brands share so much it has become very hard to distuingish a Carnival from a Costa, Cunard from Holland America vessel.
I have avoided Carnival and its brands for yrs, uninaginative, cheap looking and recycled has made Mickey Arison complacent and a company once an industry leader dull and unimaginative.
you are annoying if you dont like carnival then why the heck are you on here watching a video about their new cruise ship go watch something about "Oagaysis of the seas"
In reference to your post, at least RCCL puts unique features in each of its newbuilds (though the cabins can be small). Carnival has gotten to the point where it is hard to tell a Carnival from a Costa ship. A Cunard vessel from a Holland America ship. Carnival is a "quantity" company, it appears Carnival equates quality with expense and they'll have none of it. These videos by Mr. Heald are great PR but have to allow commentary from both sides. Thankfully Carnival has competition out there.
well i just thought it was annoying for you to be posting the same message on every single video and it is very easy to tell a carnival ship from a costa ship just look at the funnel lol
Thank goodness for funnel color and styles..otherwise it would be inpossible to tell the difference. Though Costa has degenerated into something vulgar and unbecoming in comparision to where it was design wise before Mr.Farcus and his styrofoam, purple painted zodiac statuary "custom made" by and for him.
haha i admit from the outside they look the same but on the inside they are completely different ships like when the Carnival Conquest is next to the costa concordia the funnel is the only difference but inside the ships its like being on a completely different ship
Mr. farcus designs for both carnival and Costa. same inspirational pattern used for each line, Mr. Farcus admits that. That isn't to say it isn't a good product..Costa is a huge success. But it has become increasingly obvious Carnival measures success in quantity, not quality. Carnival relies on the magic of PR to sperate one brand from another. Personally I find the company stale and tired. It has become predictable w/every new build they introduce.
Oh, give me a break. All the RCCL ships from the freedom on look the same. The only difference is some are bigger. Wow. Carnival is fun. To say they are all alike is absurd. Each has it's own feel and theme and the public rooms are dramatically different. Personally, I like the fun, flashy, inventive interiors and I enjoy the idea that it's all about having a good time. If I wanted to stay in a hotel I'd book a room in one. if I wanted to climb a rock wall or skate, ala RCCL, I'd stay at home.

such a strong opinion from someone who just joined Youtube yesterday! I'm finding alot of these types of responses. An industry insider summed it up by saying "Carnival squeezes the poop from ecery design nickel they spend". Carnival recycles heavily, same designers, suppliers, same hulls, cabins, decor. All of which was transplated to Costa, Carnival's Euro equalivelent. A boring, unimaginative company that relies heavily on PR to make it's image rather than a new and exciting product.
I went on the freedom this past July 18th and i have to say that this cruise director john is the most hilarios person i have ever known

I see a company painfully lacking

Well, for me this doesn't seem like a clone in the least of ways. I'm personally excited about this ship entering service in Fall 2009.
