I support equal right so much i even posted my own vlog against homophobia and when people say 'ooh god loves you like me but you weren't meant to be gay' it pisses me off. Everyone is equal. I have to agree with you that it is a separation between church and state issue. Absent a religious argument, this is at its heart an issue of limiting civil rights. When marriage is handled by the government (and then in the church if a couple so chooses), this becomes a non issue.

Sexual orientation doesn't make you a minority group. Not the same as race or gender. And furthermore, separation of church and state, as Thomas Jefferson meant it, only meant there would not be one national religion that everyone had to follow. Jefferson, like other early Presidents, gave public federal money to build religious churches, schools, and to hold religious classes. This is not a religious issue exclusively, it is a moral one.
Race, gender and sexual orientation all have a biological basis and are (for the time being) unchangeable. With respect, I fail to see how homosexuals don't qualify as a minority group.

in the Bible if a slave felt he wasn't being treeated right and he ran away and the owner was commanded to let him go free and dwell amung the rest of society.

How can we make a conversation with bigots without bringing up the Bible? I hear that it is wrong according to the Bible. Well, slavery is o.k. in the Bible yet the US saw fit to abolish that crap from our Nation. Why do they feel like we are 2nd class? I am a Lesbian. I have to agree with you that it is a separation between church and state issue. Absent a religious argument, this is at its heart an issue of limiting civil rights. When marriage is handled by the government (and then in the church if a couple so chooses), this becomes a non issue.

Don't worry, in the end YOU will zip it. There are many teachers already teaching about gay lifestyle and the media is helping too, which is why only 52 percent said yes this time compared to 66 percent last time. You were entitled to it legally by a group of judges who acted without the voice of the people!!! That's why Prop 8 has passed. I'm not trying to make you religious and believe, your going to hell either way, but what I don't want tainted is what was created by someone above us. I understand that the rights of a homosexual American citizen are supposed to be the same as that of a heterosexual American citizen. I understand that a right that is being granted to heterosexual American citizens is being denied to homosexual American citizens. This isn't about redefining marriage: it's about redefining who is allowed to participate in it and treating everyone equally under the law. I repeat, domestic partnerships are not equal to marriage in either legal or social status.

What is absolutely true about your video is that you are absolutely wrong on every point concerning the reasons why everyone (Mormons included), voted yes on prop 8. If YOU can converse about it without resorting to anger or disrespectful commentary, as I would, then I would be happy to explain to you or anyone else why we voted yes. Sexual orientation doesn't make you a minority group. Not the same as race or gender. And furthermore, separation of church and state, as Thomas Jefferson meant it, only meant there would not be one national religion that everyone had to follow. Jefferson, like other early Presidents, gave public federal money to build religious churches, schools, and to hold religious classes. This is not a religious issue exclusively, it is a moral one.

Race, gender and sexual orientation all have a biological basis and are (for the time being) unchangeable. With respect, I fail to see how homosexuals don't qualify as a minority group.
