@88feji That's like comparing apples and oranges. This is live and hers is not only done in the studio, but her voice is multi tracked as well. There is no truer test of ones vocal capabilities than something like this.
Studio produced or not , I still prefer Chyi's cover .. but since hers is a cover, much credit still has to be given to Nash for being the original ..
Absolutely beautiful <3 I lovelovelove David Gilmour and CSN&Y and to see Glimour, Crosby, and Nash together singing one of the most gorgeous and emotional songs out there brings tears to my eyes <3
Thank all the powers that are that these dudes have chosen to bless us by growing old gracefully and continuing to sharing their beautiful talents with us rather than spinning out early like so many others in their industry :-) David Gilmour is just my number one hero and I still thrash my Crosby Stills Nash and Young albums no matter what permutation or combinations of those guys, I guess true genius is ever lasting.
@Findel5 These gentlemen are the last of a kind that no longer exist , as listeners we will be in our darkenend rooms with our dusty dvds reliving a time that has long gone ,,,,,, i will do it with a smile
This is a fantastic version of this song. Initially it was about four students, killed by soldiers, while exercising their constitutional right to assemble and petition the government for redress of their grievances. As time passes, it begs you to think about ALL lives that are taken and weigh the cost.
It's not a rallying point for flag wavers, it's a plea for peace.
@chicho2190 Crosby looks like the walrus (epic mustache), Nash is the one who looks like a banker. I assume you know Gilmour is the one holding the guitar? ;)
Land of the free, home of the brave? You're only as free as your least exercised right, and only as brave as the last right you exercised without seeking permission. The more appropriate finale would better read: land of the servile, home of the submissive. -- redthumb
Liberty: she is a tiresome burden. She is indeed a high maintenance bride. Though she demands the utmost fidelity and the expense of great unrelenting effort to protect and watch over her from those who wish to violate her; in return she promises, by proportionate degree, those who do with abundant prosperity, dignity and honor. Cherish her always for she is nothing without you; and you are nothing without her. -- redthumb
Very appropriate song for Memorial Day. Thank you to all who served, and bless you to all who made the ultimate sacrifice for this country and all of us.
Yes, The high cost of freedom....Remember,There is one who paid the cost for freedom for us all....Yet on the third day,He rose again!!! to save us all!
This song is more topical & relevant today than ever. Down with the "new world order" facist scum >>> Freedom for All >>> God Bless us All >>> Thanks, GCN...
wow.....so much class!!!!! and for the people claiming to hear autotune, really have not idea what autotune sounds like. this is an awesome harmony though.
Not a lot of chaps can get on stage will Gilmour who have been famous for great music even longer than he has! Crosby was almost the original hippie, as he's been flying his "freak flag" a VERY long time.
Just amazing ! wouldnt expect anything less of these three performers..Gilmours own skills fit seemlessly into Stephen stills part. such amazing voices they all have. Also, when have you ever seen a live concert where the people showed such restraint and respect to keep this quiet during a song? ...lol..wow !
i think everybody in this crown knew, that they are about to witness something big, something that you propably will never HEAR/see again. and so that everyone in the audience could enjoy this and you not miss a single note/word, they just had to sh.. the f... up !
@KoRn1a7x2 my all timj 5 favorite singers are Lennon , Crosby , Justing Hayward , Jack Bruce , and David Gilmour . Jimi Hendrix said that Graham Nash was one of his favorite . Whatever -- 3 of the absolute best up thetre in my opinion - sure sounds damn good .
In 1970 I heard CSNY in concert - when they did their a cappella set, it Was that quiet. It was a large venue, full house, and you could have heard a pin drop. Unfortunately, subsequent CSN w/wout Y were never that quiet again - audience just ignoring the pleas of David and Graham to be quiet so they could hear each other and stay in pitch. This lovely performance was just stellar - thank you for posting it.
Today 04-05-2010 it's the sixtie- fifth time that all the people in the Netherlands remember all the brave men and women who gave their lives for freedom in Europe.

It's interesting Gilmour says "We're gonna sing one of their songs for you," and they do a Stephen Stills' song... strange.
Even so, amazing performance all the way. If CSN&Y need to replace Stephen for a tour, Gilmour's the man to do it!
