  • the sample came from crystal castles

  • @degrasi0

No, that's the opposite. The song Dead Womb was recorded in 2002, Crystal Castles started their activity in 2004.

  • @degrasi0 Nope, other way around.

  • @degrasi0 No it didn't

  • this is fucking incredible...i know it's old news but soooooo glad they're back together! this band makes me wanna dance && get down all night

  • 4:21 "This Robot Kills"

  • Jesse an Sebastien play their instruments like it's nothing.

  • i love when someone post a question or comment that is , for all DFA1979 fans, incorrect and that everyone go agains that person. I know we all are happy that they are back :D

  • where's your god...!

  • Cooooolll crystal castles sample.

  • @lyndonrules this was waaaaayyyyyy before crystal castles. duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • @alphagusto hahahhahaa. i know that NOW but. thanks for tellin me

  • @lyndonrules Actually Crystal Castles sampled DFA....

  • @NanoverseProductions The real question is where the fuck that weirdass sample came from in the first place

  • Comment removed

  • @stevoops

It's theirs. Crystal Castels sampled it in Alice Practice (I guess, I can't be sure at the moment)

  • @qmbqrqdqm It's Untrust Us, but yeah I know DFA used the sample in music first, I'm just wondering what it actually IS. It's obviously not Sebastian speaking into a microphone. It's some ethereal child's voice half-singing weird made-up words. I'm just curious where it's from.

  • @stevoops It's not weird made up words, it's spanish, lol

  • anyone know what kind of speaker cab hes using?

  • @CFFDan He used to use PA speakers; that's all I know. He probably still does but I don't know what brand.

  • they definately sound tighter live than they did before, the one thing that really annoys me is that the bass sounds too clean though, still, I really hope they release another album sometime soon...

  • why does everyone give a fuck about what people wear nowadays? shut the fuck up and remember why you started watching this in the first place

  • @4:20 THIS ROBOT KILLS !!!!!! XD

  • Did he throw the bass at 3:19? lol

  • @Vap0rEy35

Looks like it, what a boss JFK is

  • SHUT THE FUCK UP WITH THE "HE'S GAY / YOU'RE GAY / THIS IS GAY / I'M GAY"!!

DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979 ARE BACK TOGETHER AND TOURING. SHUT THE FUCK UP AND ENJOY THIS SHIT!!!!

  • @forthex The East Coast is gay because we do not have the great Coachella :(

  • Awesome version, especially after listening to the recorded stuff a million times over for years.

  • this recording unfortunately makes the bass sound flat, although i know that must've not been the case. and it's still really fucking awesome.

  • @jakubnage I think it's just the mix. If you listen really carefully you can hear the amps that are putting out the heavier tone that's usually more prominent. Whoever ran sound (at least for the recording) did a shit job.

  • I literally almost bought a ticket for Coachella to see them, oh and I live in North Carolina so I would have also had to get the plane ticket....but of course tickets were sold out ;(

  • If this is gay I'm converting.

  • Look, I love this band. They are a phenomenal post/punk band. But that hat....... is fucking gay.

  • @Zombie1990 If by "gay" you mean "awesome" I agree. He looks like he should be in a western.

  • @JML897 No, I mean "gay" as in "lame", or, "ass retarded".

  • This was pretty fucking awesome!!!

  • God fucking damnit I keep trying to get thumbs up in every comment I post in this fucking video & I got no mother fucking thumbs up. -.-

  • @YourrMomsFace its cause u have tiny dick syndrome

  • @tropicalthunder232

You have a big dick....In your mouth.

  • @YourrMomsFace well at least i have a big dick one way or another

  • @tropicalthunder232

But you have it in your mouth & you like it.

  • @YourrMomsFace But nothing my friend, But nothing

  • 1:45 Dat pickslide

  • Finally, more Death From Above & less MSTRKRFT.

  • @sistemassociales I'd prefer not to, and stick with throwing a stick at the roadie :P

Jeez, take a fucking joke, its not like your a roadie or something

  • Did Crystal Castles sample the intro to Dead Womb for their last record?

  • @andronicusyyz yeah

  • @andronicusyyz This is correc

  • @andronicusyyz yeah they did

  • @andronicusyyz oh i think they sampled each other's music

  • @dardrixakadman yeah they did which is really cool. from the song "untrust us"

  • @newformulaS2000 are u stupid dfa 1979 was way before crystal castles and cc used the sample from them they even said it in an interview

  • @bloodstereo ok relax no im not stupid but thanks for asking. sorry i might of replied to the wrong comment i meant to just state which song cc sampled it into. heads up recorded 2001-02, cc1 recorded 2006-08 i know i know...

  • 4:36, now I know what to do if i ever need the attention of the roadie :P

  • @MrATOM180 i recomend you to kill your self, it would be better

  • Sorry if I kicked you in the face while crowd surfing. Wait, no I'm not.

  • @andthenthereisMaude and best fuckin comment

  • I wish I coulda gone :'(

  • I was right near the mosh pitt!!! They were soo fucking good!!!! Love it!

  • @garfieldthe3rd I know!!! its awful... The bass sound so weak... :/

  • they still sound amazing

  • good god, the sound guy should be shot.

  • whoever disliked this video should get beat up

  • about JFK's tone, it was the soundguy's fault. he probably mixed it wrong for the recording. not sure how it was live. but I'm assuming either there's a clean DI signal coming out of both amps, or the Peavey F-800B was clean while the Acoustic 450 was distorted, and he just ran the Acoustic way too low in the mix...cause you can still hear distortion. either way, this isn't a true representation of Jesse's tone.

  • @JosephCote27 Yeah the mix is way fucked up... just heard an amateur camera recording and they were killing it. Kinda relieved, thought Jesse was losing it for a second. Why the hell they didn't record what was going through the PA I don't quite understand...

  • Comment removed

  • @JosephCote27 I'm almost positive he uses the overdrive circuit on the F800B though. Most likely instead of mic'ing both cabs and running a DI, they only mic'd one. But like you said it definitely does not sound on this recording like it does live.

  • @limeyamos

quoted from JFK on the MSTRKRFT forums:

"yes. i just heard this shit. i literally told the fucker right before we played DONT PUT THE DI IN THE MIX. ITS JUST FOR SUB. hes all "yes i was told... im acting like its not even there" piece of garbage. it sounded so good on stage and that stream audio is shit. i think its not the actual audio that was going out on the system. our soundman knows better. lame."

  • Wow didn't even know they were performing at Coachella this year. Love these guys!!!!

  • @DubQWST

how did you miss this?! this is their official reunion gig. these guys are officially back together. website is updated and everything.

  • HOLY FUCK!! DFA1979 IS BACK!!

  • these dudes murdered it yesterday

  • I want those American Flag Suspenders!

  • Sebastien got himself a Jim Morrison Hat!

  • fuck that DI recording bullshit. you can hear the fuzzy tones in the backround, but they didnt get his pedals in the mix.

  • and the crowds too hipster...

  • crowd fail... what is with this?!

  • was lucky eough to see them at SXSW.....so good to have them back!

  • The bass sounds different on the album because Jesse played through blown out amps. Personally I think they would be even better at a smaller more intimate venue.

  • the tone i'm sure is because part of the streaming mix has a direct line in?

  • death from above shouldnt play huge outdoor festivals especailly during day light.

  • jesses bass sounds like.... a bass....

  • @carterwebb it was the sound guy fault, jfk explain it on the mstrkrft board

  • @carterwebb sounds like... your mom too...

  • @carterwebb no it doesnt it sound like the best sounding bass in the intire universe...

  • @NativeViking99 What he means is that unlike on the albums he didn't use any overdrive or distortion in this live performance, part of what makes the signature sound of DFA 1979. Rather, it sure doesn't sound like he's using any overdrive or distortion.

  • @franticchicken

He doesn't use overdrive/distortion on the albums either, watch the live shows from 5 years ago and you will see how they sounded the same as they did on the record.

They just messed up at first, and later in the concert they fixed it

  • @franticchicken There's a distorted tone happening here, but it's quiet. Actually if I remember correctly in the old days, he didn't use a pedal, but overdrove his amp the old way.

  • @minusjason yeah he uses loads and loads of power in the head (he uses accoustic or marshall heads depending on the show) you get a more dynamic response using that instead of a pedal and just loads of power going into the head 1,200 watts or something like that

  • Keeler + Grainger = GOLDEN

  • JFK's tone didn't sound as gnarly as it normally does. It usually sounds way heavier and fuzzier.

  • thumbs up if Going Steady was awesome

  • pinche madre y el champ si estaba ahi! >:C
