Thanks again for another upload and favorite. If you like I have a video in my uploads you might like called Noble Savages ... At roughly the 6:45 mark you can see lots of nice castles and cathedrals, etc ... not only on your side of England but in the Welsh Marches and in the south.
Oh! My sources tell me this castle was built by one of the Bigod Earls of Norfolk, and Bigod was a bit of a worry for Henry II, so Henry built Orford.
I went there earlier this year and it is magnificant. Some parts are now ruins, such as the dungeon near the south west facing wall. Even though, it still show immense power. The domestic buildings were demolished in the 19th century i think and were used to make the old poorhouse, the building we see inside the curtain wall today. Orford castle was built so Henry II could keep the Bigod family under control as he thought they were becoming too powerful.

The original castle was pulled down by Henry II. This was built by Hugh Bigod Earl of Norfolk. During the reigns of Richard I and John.

actually the original motte and bailey castle was destroyed by Henry 2nd and the curtain wall was built by Roger Bigot 2nd in 1177.
It's a good video!
