Never could figure out why the Imperial carrier is running away from those two punks in their junkyard ships. Maybe he didn't have enough for a shield generator when he bought it? Imperial silver is an expensive paintjob? He wanted to show of some sexy moves for the intro, that's it ;=)
@MisterShodex Now we have arcade era too... arcade was always most popular cuz its simple and there is more dumb people than smart. So that dumb people like everything simple so games are simplified for that dumb f....s too And smart people suffers in game industry. In space games there is big gap cuz elite was first and last space simulator game, Im not mentioning applications like space shuttle simulators ect cuz they are not games.
@DeltaNC Its not vaporware, its just not being worked on. i believe DB has every intention of making elite 4, but the outsider is the next big project.
This remake is awesome, music also. I would love to see this remade on Xbox Live Arcade. Even it was the exact same Amiga game but with up to date graphics. XBLA has already so many retro remakes so I can't see why this can't be one of them as the game itself is still addictive and it would give us a much needed fix until Elite does (if ever) finally sees the light of day. @callmynamesebastian Your dad did indeed do the original music, and accomplished a pretty mean feat, programming all that classical music on a machine capable of only 4 voices at once. I hope if Frontier Developments ever get around to doing a new Frontier game, they would consider asking him to do a modern version of the Frontier theme :)
Yeah, lol. if you notice he said "inspired by" the actual model used in this was made by Prefim ( mat recardo) who in fact made everything else for this animation ( apart from the music) i know this coz i helped on the project also. ( i did some of the textureing for him)

David Braben had the golden game of all time in his hands (Elite). And he really screwed it up... with this. Good programmer, great ideas, but shitty at everything else. Elite is my favourite game. I was offended when he released this. Especially First Encounters: which didn't work at all without a patch. What a screw up.
I played Oolite (fan remake of the original) for a while. It is heaps better than Davids' sequels. Search for 'oolite', it's awesome.
I've been working on my own remake of this intro sequence and only recently thought to check to see if someone had preceeded me. It appears so. Your version looks awesome. Also the music is really well re-done.
This is the kind of "retouch" Frontier desperately needs. The explosion could have had a few more particle and polygon effects like in the original game. I love it and the music is fantastic. Thanks for showing.
I'm speechless. That was a brilliant remake of a childhood classic and for that, I cannot thank you enough. You have a lot of skill, and I wish you all the best.

It was only a rumour I think so I wouldnt put too much faith in it.
Still it would be nice if it were true.
The Elite games always had the grandest and most wonderful sense of freedom and exploration over any other game.
The X series is good but its a shadow of what Elite series was.
