  • what aslide player.. and to do " the clapton" whats sad is is kanye west6 more talented than that dude? i say .. no way

  • ..

    Randolf is over-rated and messy.

    like a bad harmonica player.

    ..

  • @Shattersmith NOTHIN SLOPPY ABOUT IT, WAS THAT A JOKE?its a great solo

  • George Rains FTW.

  • best lap steel guitar solo ever!

  • I still rock my glasses too, Eric.

  • Robert cray looks like he wants to say dude where are we? And then theirs a rainbow guitar so it's all good haha

  • OK, JUST A THOUGHT: "WHY DOES ERIC CLAPTON HAVE A RAINBOW GUITAR?" NEXT QUESTION: "WHY IS THERE A BLACK MAN PLAYING AN ELECTRIC STEEL HOOKED TO A WAH?" NEXT QUESTION: "WHY DOES JIMMIE SOUND (VOCALLY) LIKE STEVIE AND WHY IS HE PLAYING THROUGH ONE OF STEVIES 'FENDER VIBROLUX' AMPS?" NEXT QUESTION: "WHY DOES ROBERT CRAY LOOK LOST?" NEXT QUESTION: "WHY ARE YOU UNABLE TO ANSWER MY QUESTIONS?" NEXT QUESTION: "WHY ON 500 CGARACTERS PER POST?"
  • @jehovahuponyou ur a fkn idiot id hit you in your fkn face if u said that in real life

  • @badhorsee - YOU'RE A DICKLESS COWARD WHO WOULD SUX MY DICK IF YOU CAUGHT ME ASLEEP!

PS - FUCK YOU, YOU ILLITERATE, HUMORLESS CUNT!

  • the voodoo child was Hendrix, "Alpine Valley/Middle of the Night" refers to the Alpine Valley Music Theater near East Troy, Wisconsin where the helicopter carrying Stevie Ray Vaughan and several others crashed following a concert in 1990. it's sad to think of us not having those two great around. what legendary great will be left when Clapton dies? John Mayer, and Joe Bonamassa look like the hope of the future greats, but can't compare. but then again, who can?

thanks for sharing this great clip

  • @thebluesrockers jonny lang is quite a blues talent too, should check him out

  • @thebluesrockers The future stars have to have time/room to grow. You can never forget the greats, and can only hope that the next generation will give us a new kind of thrill. :)

  • amazing he does sound a bit like Stevie Ray ,and having Eric Clapton and Robert Cray makes this session amazing.. after all Eric Clapton....(God with a guitar) how can you lose?

  • Holy crap that is some horrible singing. A man should know his limitations.

  • @billyzoom1 Blues is about the soul, horrible is Dumbass Bieber

  • Robert Cray, man. Robert Cray.

  • Robert Randolph is a hero. This is just extremely well played slide guitar!

  • robert randolph it´s great...

  • Musician Harlan Rorman here. Go to YouTube and Search RORMAN and see many Videos of Harlan and Dane Rorman playing Music.

  • Clapton couldn't wash SRV's laundry.

Hence the helicopter crashed and SRV's laundry was scattered across Alpine Valley.

Clapton never impressed me and I hold him responsible for SRV.

  • and he never sings and plays at the same time...and when he does play you wished he'd STOP!!!!!! Eric and both Robert R and Robert C look like they are struggling to get through this catastrophe and are RELIEVED when it's OVER!!!!!!

  • Eric Clapton/Jimmy Vaughan/Robert Cray-Six Strings Down - you should add Robert Randolph to the title. He owned this show.

  • @xHefpioTx Yes Robert DID!!!!!! He is AMAZING!!!!

  • @abbeyrose: That wah wah effect you hear is a House of God, Keith Dominion (that's a church) staple. It's where Randolph cut his teeth, folks.

  • 4:12 Mmmm MMmmm Mmmmm

  • BABY! Make that thang CRYyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • JV can't sing or play worth a flip. The only reason he keeps getting invited to play these high profile gigs is out of respect for Stevie's memory. He should be ashamed!!!!!!

  • @jennifer52566

Stop stealing our air and please, please don't breed.

  • @jennifer52566 Good news, your seat beside Satan is warmed up for you. Please go die very soon.

Upon review of this comment, YouTube Staff have informed me that you obviously wouldn't have a seat beside Satan. Even he wouldn't want anything to do with you. Have fun in Purgatory.

  • @VlogsifyableVlogs If JV wasn't famous and extremely overrated....would you really think he was great....revisit Crossroads 2010 Six Strings Down....he's a rude asshole to Hubert Sumlin and Robert Cray looks like he's wondering....WTF????? who is this guy....oh yeah he's Stevie's brother. Not to mention Stevie had no cartilage in his nose because of the ass beating his older brother gave him because he was JEALOUS of his talent..and now collects his royalty checks!!!! AND he's a NO talent!!!

  • @VlogsifyableVlogs check out Tim Wheeler and The Soul Shufflers.....Texas born and bred.....guitar playing as it SHOULD be....not hunting and pecking like a 5 year old!!!!!

  • @jennifer52566 I'd bet my life JV couldn't play that if given the rest of his LIFE to figure it out!!!!!

  • jimmy is a great guitar player

  • aron nevel wrote the song not jimmie

  • loved it. i have always loved that song ever since my dad played Strange Pleasure for me. i simply love the whole album. all the musicians on that stag are great in their own right. each of them have given us a ton of wonderful music.

  • What's the name of the god with black hat and green t-shirt ??

    O.o

  • @bluesfun Robert Randolph is the God you're asking about.

  • The fact that people are saying stuff like "why did we lost a talent like SRV and get stuck with the worthless Clapton" shows complete ignorance. In a perfect world we wouldn't have lost either of them. Not just because they are great musicians but they are human beings. Not like you should just toss someone away if they are a worse player. Furthermore clapton RULES so does stevie. You can't compare the two at all. To do so is dumb.

  • @TurtleRocker12..my thoughts exactly.."worthless" Clapton...yup, he's soooo worthless that's why, HE is the one up there playing and these people are just drooling with envy..all i can say to these haters: if you haven't sold millions of dollars worth of albums shut your cock holsters!

  • @TurtleRocker12 But the worlds isn't perfect, that's why we have the blues ;)

  • saw robert randolph open for eric clapton, he did voodoo child and it was fucking amazing

  • Seriously, Jimmy Vaughn always sounds drunk?

  • Six Strings Down...Jimmy, Eric, and Robert

  • I can count players on two hands still alive that would tear up both stevie and eric in a flash!

  • @broozebrothers haha! please...

  • i've never even heard of robert randolph till this. damn he's good!

  • guys, it really depresses me you're arguing bout jimmy's voice. 1) his voice is meant to be like that, if you know what i mean, and 2) jesus, randolph's solo rocks, and is robert cray funking or what?! not to mention clapton! stop your bitching people! seriously

  • His angst, his pain, his tribute to a gift to all of us of a superbly amazing guitar like no other.

All too easy for all of us to forget Jimmie lost his little brother, Stevie.

Sad but shows great humanity that many wrote this song to remember Stevie and join in Jimmie's overwhelming grief.

  • UNBELIEVABLE

  • maaaan!!! the guy on the pedal steel!!!!!! amazing!!!

  • Does it get any better....REALLY!

  • This is a wonderful perfomance, but it makes me cry.

  • Jimmy may not be the best singer of all times, but he's a freakin good player, and that "Route 66" look of him just make you want to grab a strat and hit the road playin', doesn't it?

  • I've been listening to a lot of Stevie Ray Vaughan recently and this afternoon I recalled a story told to me by a friend who happened to be at a SRV rehearsal. As Vaughn was playing, Jimmy, obviously no slouch with the guitar himself--as we know--walked in and sat down. After listening a bit, he snuffed out a cigarette and said, in a rather bellicose manner, "You sound like Robin Fucking Trower!"

    Fisticuffs nearly broke out.

(I added the cigarette, but it does improve the scene, doesn't it?)

  • Jimmy is the sh*t. The guy is freakin' amazing!

  • it just dont get much better

  • God damn Jimmy is the fuckin' man.

  • Robert Randolph on pedal steel??

  • Yup, Robert Randolph!!!, a Jersey boy!!!

  • How is the name of the guitarist at the steel pedal ?

  • *****Excellent!

Unfortunatelly Jimmy allways stays shadow of Stevie.

  • just makes me miss SRV even more, when I hear this.

  • I have this DVD, and just found out the history behind the song, crazy

  • CLAPTON IS LOVING IT!!!

  • I found this entire show as an 8-track at a book store a few years ago, Doctor John almost steals the entire video along with Buddy Guy' set

  • Awesome

  • Robert Randolph is probably the most talented guitarist I've seen since Stevie Ray. Fitting that he's commanding the solo in a song about SRV's untimely passing.

Something tells me if he were alive today, he would have the biggest grin on his face, listening to Robert lay it down thick and mean.

  • @Tarwater03 I completely agree. Randolph has said his favorite guitarist was Stevie. Hearing those two go back and forth in a jam would have been astounding

  • Clapton is GOD. c'est tout.

  • I love the way he basically sits back, so as to not show anyone up, real class

  • waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw lets rockkkkkkkkkk !!!!!!!!!!!

  • Robert Randolph the fucking man!!!!!!!!

  • Robert Randolph solo is amazing....

  • Robert Cray's killing that Rhythm guitar part! Awesome stuff

  • what model of matchless amp?

  • Robert Randolph's solo is amazing!! Never heard a wah wah effect on a lap steel like that before!!

A great show! This has been favorited!!

  • Ok so here's young Robert Randolph on stage with Eric Clapton, Robert Cray, Jimmy Vaughan, etc, and he absolutely blows them away! What a nasty solo

  • lol

  • great quality, excellent performance

  • NICEEE!!!, espacially the combination with Robert Randolph

  • Man, that was one awesome solo.

  • amoretka39 thank you for sharing great video!

  • This is just a great performance!

    Thank you for sharing!

  • If you mean the lap guitar: that's Robert Randolph.

from Robert Randolph and The Family Band

  • can someone plese pm who that plectrum guitarist please....

  • you can see why SRV admired his brother

  • i cant take it anymore.....why is he dead out of all people?....imagine how he could of changed the face of music, even today....imagine if people compared stevie to the jonas brothers....they wouldnt even be popular.

  • i feel the same but about randy rhoads....

  • mistrzostwo :) tak piękna muzyka... Polacy sie na takiej muzyce nie znaja... i to boli najbardziej...

  • Witaj , bracie w bólu..Ale ie nazekajmy :P

    Posłuchajmy lepiej :P

  • Good to see Steel in this, RR does Great as always....

  • robert randolph is amazing here!!!!!

  • I love Jimmy Lee . He cant sing great and Art Neville did write this song I was lucky saw them both in Tn in the 90s

  • @colrick1234 Is Art Neville one of The Neville Bros?

  • I was on of the fortunate ones.......hearing SRV live @ Warnors Theatre Fresno,CA. I managed to save my ticket stub and it know sits on a framed poster of the GREAT SRV. It may sound minnimal to alot of folks, but to me..........it's ONE of my prized positions.

  • yeah lucky bastard im the must unlucky one im a blues fan specialy SRV music and wen i was born he was allready dead

  • Same here I would have given anything to see him live I'm not sure we will ever see anything like him

  • art neville wrote this song not jimmy, Art said he wrote it out of respect and to say thank you to stevie. Art said it was a priviledge to live at the same time as one of the greatest ever and he wanted to say thanks

  • you guys that r hacking on jimmies singing should shut up if u wrote that song for your brother...could you sing it without getting choked up?i couldnt i get that way just listening to it!

  • @truker6669

love to hear jimmy sing the song but it was written by Art Neville and dedicated to Stevie

  • @truker6669 I actualy received a vcr copy as a gift, when I bought a SRV cd a few years ago.

  • @truker6669 Actually Art Neville wrote it but I FEEL YA man.

  • @truker6669 In "Remembering Stevie" Jimmie says that Art Neville wrote the song and send it to him, or at least thats what I understand.

  • Love it!

  • Thats because he cant sing a lick

  • RR's note choice is so fresh. Great solo....

  • for those of u who dont know this song was writtn for srv after he died. listen to the first line, Alpine vally(site of the crash),middle of the night(time when the copter crashed)

  • I'm a Jimmy Vaughn fan and love Strats. Can't get enough of this tune...it's so infectious I bought a guitar!!!

  • Robert Randoph is awesome I have seen him 3 times open for Clapton, his whole band is amazing.

  • Good good good good the king

  • Wtf man.

  • you stupid wanker

  • @heckfarr You are so right, Calpton was shite after Cream, Stevie was better than him tenfold, Why did we lose the best white bluesman who ever lived, yet we get to keep this piece of shit called Eric Clapton for fuck's sake, it's unfair!

  • @Cptjackjacky Are you fucking kidding me? Eric Clapton is fucking amazing, he's on the same level as Stevie.

  • @drthscion What the bubbling fuck are you on!?! Clapton was nowhere NEAR the same league of Stevie, he's not amazing, he was shit after Cream, his solo career is the epitome of musical shite, Stevie was a legend and a virtuoso from start to finish, there is a world of difference between those two, and Stevie is the better man, always

  • @Cptjackjacky It's obvious that you've never seen Clapton live. It's truly an amazing experience.

Anyone who can speak in such a degrading manner towards one of the greatest guitarists of all time has no credibility to me. Take your comments elsewhere.

  • awesome man check this out ; i got my gto gonna put the top down i got some money in my pockets gonns take my baby to the picture show

  • Robert Randolph welcome to the land of the gods you are unique....

  • dude should never try to sing.

  • no... no disrespect to Jimmie, but listen, people -- use your damn ears. The man's off key. It kills me to say it, but there's a difference between a generous vibrato and being out of tune. He's flat all over the place. That's what happens to musicians who don't wear their earplugs!

  • Yeah. I love Jimmie, but this is terrible. Not only he sings bad here, but the solos are crumbled. It's like he was under drugs or something, totally disconcentrated.

  • whats the name of the video, where Robert Cray talks in some interview about Buddy guy and then they all play together, i believe something to do with Crossroads song?

  • thats sweet home chicago from the 2004 crossroads

  • @Blue5fan This is from Clapton`s Crossroads Concert Tour, he did a series of Bluz Tours and invited a ass-load of different players to sit in at each one, this is the one from Texas, it features a bunch of Texas players in cluding ZZ Top who closed this show. I have the Box Set, it`s a little pricie but it`s got everyone who`s anyone (almost) Sanatana, Steve Vai, Johnny Lang, Buddy Guy,BB King, Doyle Bramel Jr, anyway check it out it`s great stuff.

  • @motownharry Does the boxset have all the full concerts?? The DVD I have only has a few songs from each player!!

  • @motownharry Love to find that box set. Is it called, "Crossroads Concert Tour?"

  • whos the guy with the green t-shirt and hat?

  • that's robert randolph!! with his 13 string robert randolph guitar

  • Jimmmy, Eric, Cray rocks the place, now all we need is BB king and Buddy Guy and whola, match made in heaven

  • no it crashed on the hill I was at the site he hit the line for the ski chairs and the helicopter went down and exploded stevie was dead on impacked he didnt feel a thing

  • What happened did jimi lose his voice it was better in the first six string down ?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!

  • Neat solo with that pedal steel guitar but not stylistic for sure first time I've seen anyone turn a trick like that. 5*

  • very cool man

  • Gave me chills. "See the Voodoo Child holding out his hand....welcome to the band." Wow. I know he is with Jimi up there.

  • Can someone please tell me what Jimmie's saying when he says Alpine Valley the middle of the night ..six strings down on the heavens..??? I can't understand him

  • Alpine Valley, in the middle of the night.

Six Strings Down, on the heaven-bound flight

  • Thanks! Killer song!

  • on a heaven bound flight I know did SRV know that it was coming not sure

  • he is talking about his brother stevie ray vaughan he died on alpine vally ski hill after a show so it was the middle of the night plus he died in an helicopter crash thus on the heaven bound flight

  • Close.... Alpine Valley was the concert venue he'd just played. The helicopter crashed near Wilmot Mountain. (A definite oxymoron, but the only ski hill in the Northern Illinois, southern Wisconsin area.) I was about 15 min. drive from where it happened when it hit the news. Still kicking myself for not getting tix to the show. (I'd seen him with Jeff Beck a few years earlier but.. Hindsight's 20/20, I guess. :( )

  • why do you forget the great Robert Rhandloph in the title

  • WTF Lauri... I saw/heard no such thing. Jimmy is not as good as Stevie was but man is he good! Randolph is amazing too~~~ Clapton is alright (snickers) :P

  • Maybe I'm wrong but at 02:19 Jimmy sings a bit out of tune and if you look at Eric Clapton's face you'll see his reaction, is something like: "No, that was bad"

  • I think Jimmy had a few cocktails before he went on stage. Other than that .....this rocks! Clapton is great as usual and Robert Randolph's solo is one to listen to again and again! Great video!

  • You donkeys that like to dis the talent need to look past your plate. Check out the "Tribute to SRV" version of this track. Then you will back off & enjoy the riffs & action.

  • There's a much better version on the Tribute to SRV DVD, I'm sure it's on youtube somewhere.. :)

  • Dude, its his brother singing the song for him man....does it really matter if it sounds awful. Tokin bout the man who noes SRV the most

  • Jimmie,,,uh man what happened?.

Worse than a Jr High garage band front man. And those of you who say "Siyying home be critica"..comon, that is not an excuse. same gos for a quaterback or boxer way past his prime.I cant box or thow, but I know what goos is and this sit is sad..tune, playing, maybe drunk..ugg

  • .....What!?

  • ty featkid

  • I beleive that is Robert Randolph

  • awesome...who is the guy in green? he was tearing it up. slide + wah is wild sounding.

  • the dude in green is Robert Randolph - and yes, he rocks!!
