I have to be honest.......since Jimi Hendrix passed away, there have been many guitar players who came pretty close.......ROBIN TROWER....FRANK MARINO, but Stevie Ray Vaughan, in terms of technique comes pretty damn close. I don't think any other guitar player can do Voodoo Chile like him. That's the beauty about blues guitar players. It does not involved intricate playing like what Satriani/Buckethead etc....They can't come close to Blues Players in that league. Stevie ROCKS!!!

I've been listening to a lot of Stevie Ray Vaughan recently and this afternoon I recalled a story told to me by a friend who happened to be at a SRV rehearsal. As Vaughn was playing, Jimmy, obviously no slouch with the guitar himself--as we know--walked in and sat down. After listening a bit, he snuffed out a cigarette and said, in a rather bellicose manner, "You sound like Robin Fucking Trower!"
Fisticuffs nearly broke out.

Robert Randolph is probably the most talented guitarist I've seen since Stevie Ray. Fitting that he's commanding the solo in a song about SRV's untimely passing.

I was on of the fortunate ones.......hearing SRV live @ Warnors Theatre Fresno,CA. I managed to save my ticket stub and it know sits on a framed poster of the GREAT SRV. It may sound minnimal to alot of folks, but to me..........it's ONE of my prized positions.

I have the Box Set, it`s a little pricie but it`s got everyone who`s anyone (almost) Sanatana, Steve Vai, Johnny Lang, Buddy Guy,BB King, Doyle Bramel Jr, anyway check it out it`s great stuff.

I was on of the fortunate ones.......hearing SRV live @ Warnors Theatre Fresno,CA. I managed to save my ticket stub and it know sits on a framed poster of the GREAT SRV. It may sound minnimal to alot of folks, but to me..........it's ONE of my prized positions.

art neville wrote this song not jimmy, Art said he wrote it out of respect and to say thank you to stevie. Art said it was a priviledge to live at the same time as one of the greatest ever and he wanted to say thanks

Clapton was nowhere NEAR the same league of Stevie, he's not amazing, he was shit after Cream, his solo career is the epitome of musical shite, Stevie was a legend and a virtuoso from start to finish, there is a world of difference between those two, and Stevie is the better man, always

no... no disrespect to Jimmie, but listen, people -- use your damn ears. The man's off key. It kills me to say it, but there's a difference between a generous vibrato and being out of tune. He's flat all over the place. That's what happens to musicians who don't wear their earplugs!

Yeah. I love Jimmie, but this is terrible. Not only he sings bad here, but the solos are crumbled. It's like he was under drugs or something, totally disconcentrated.

@Blue5fan This is from Clapton`s Crossroads Concert Tour, he did a series of Bluz Tours and invited a ass-load of different players to sit in at each one, this is the one from Texas, it features a bunch of Texas players in cluding ZZ Top who closed this show. I have the Box Set, it`s a little pricie but it`s got everyone who`s anyone (almost) Sanatana, Steve Vai, Johnny Lang, Buddy Guy,BB King, Doyle Bramel Jr, anyway check it out it`s great stuff.

he is talking about his brother stevie ray vaughan he died on alpine vally ski hill after a show so it was the middle of the night plus he died in an helicopter crash thus on the heaven bound flight

Close.... Alpine Valley was the concert venue he'd just played. The helicopter crashed near Wilmot Mountain. (A definite oxymoron, but the only ski hill in the Northern Illinois, southern Wisconsin area.) I was about 15 min. drive from where it happened when it hit the news. Still kicking myself for not getting tix to the show. (I'd seen him with Jeff Beck a few years earlier but.. Hindsight's 20/20, I guess. :( )

Maybe I'm wrong but at 02:19 Jimmy sings a bit out of tune and if you look at Eric Clapton's face you'll see his reaction, is something like: "No, that was bad"

I think Jimmy had a few cocktails before he went on stage. Other than that .....this rocks! Clapton is great as usual and Robert Randolph's solo is one to listen to again and again! Great video!
