  • BTCC has ben the best series and I could watch the races over and over again but since 2000 onwards it becomes boring and since 2007 its not much better than Formula 1.

There must be a reason that you´ll find nowadays a lot of former BTCC Drivers in the WTCC.

  • Thanks so much for the upload! The super-touring era was the best in my opinion. I reckon what with the new NGTC regs the BTCC is moving forward to its former glory, hopefully we can get more works teams and some more world class drivers!

  • how many laps are there in one race?

  • bring back the Volvo Estates!!!

  • racing in 90s was REAL racing... less shitty computer technology and cars were made from metal! not from carbon fibre etc...

  • Fantastic racing. I doubt the current green-obsessed bumper-car BTCC brigade will ever match this great racing. Great variety of cars, great characters and great skill and driving, plus a bit of argy-bargy entertainment thrown in. Oh, and the unsung heroes of this era - the commentators! Murray Walker, the legend, and then the brilliant and entertaining Charlie Cox, a bloke who could make opening a door entertaining! And John Watson's brilliant punditary. This is how it's done, commentators! :D

  • These BTCC are the best motorsport racing IMHO. Exciting, it has more overtaking in one race than F1 has in an entire season! Simply Brilliant! love it!

  • que buen comienzo!!! pura adrenalina hey como se daban! ¿?

  • I love watching these old BTCC races from the 90's, nothing will ever beat this.

  • classic!

  • this was the best touring car racing ever!!! ... too bad btcc permited dat all the big manufacturers left the series (volvo..honda ...nissan..ford..) BTCC WAS WAY BETTER WITH NO PRIVATEER TEAMS!.. not its turned into diz crappy series wit low budget teams.....

  • @DRZREALEST I agree. One of the things I liked about BTCC in the 90's is that they used a variety of cars that were popular for your average Joe to be driving (Volvo, Honda, Nissan, Peugeot, Ford, Vauxhall etc), that, and because of 'Toca 2' video gaming that reminds me of being a teenager. I tuned in to some of the BTCC this year (2010) and wasn't overly satisfied, although it was good to see Plato still going - a real veteran now!

  • @gmfmusic85 Agreed man. The series has lost it's lustre, and it feels like the best drivers just go straight to WTCC, which is where it's at nowadays. The cars don't even feel like proper saloon cars now. It's frustrating, I've tried getting into it in the last few years, but it just seems like a bunch of amateur drivers barging each other like a videogame (even drivers who should know better are doing it - Giovanardi at Brands Hatch a few years ago). Yes, there was contact and argy-bargy in

  • @gmfmusic85 this era, but there was real skill, a massive range of characters from all across (Menu, Plato, Warwick, Cleland, Leslie (RIP), Muller, a young Matt Neal, Rydell, Thompson - also note how many of those have defected to WTCC nowadays), great racing, a fantastic variety of PROPER saloon cars and great excitement and spectacle. It's very rare I enjoy series without the roar of V8s (my favourite touring series is V8 Supercars in Australia), but this was great fun to watch as a young boy.

  • Of only Rydell would have been better at the starts, he would've been big.

  • My god are they shifting round that bridge corner! great stuff!

  • man this stuff was really back in the day, great stuff

  • I miss the BTCC of the 90's, lost it's sparkle from 2000 onwards. =(

  • oh well the future of the BTCC is certainly looking brght, WTCC privateer teams are looking at the BTCC as a cheaper alternative, Honda have expressed interest in a work team, Volvo are returing with their succesful C30 that they use in the STCC and plan to use the new S60 in 2010.

  • Would be awesome if Rydell returned to BTCC and Volvo then! Hehe

  • even though these are nowhere near as fast as f1 cars, it looks so much faster because the cars are bouncing around on the edge of grip and the racing is so close. thanks for uploading, i could never get tired of this.

  • I miss the old super touring years,

The btcc at the moment is no where near as good! :(

  • its better than the WTCC though i feel

  • The 90's were so great for motorsport. WRC, BTCC, Senna, Mansell, Prost... now it's so much less entertaining. I'd go for 1998 and 1999 as being the peak years for the BTCC.

  • This is my favorite BTCC year! I think it is because of ToCA Touring Cars 2

  • @Ozy783 Too right! I always find it annoying in that the grass is super slippery and that the opponents stay onto the track like glue! Such a great game though!

  • @Ozy783 great game that.

  • @Ozy783 They would certainly make a game based upon a great story like this one. If they made one based upon the 00's...it would probably have lots of flaws...

  • i want BTCC here in America

  • can i just say how can you have the british touring car championship in america

  • There was an attempt at bringing Supertouring to the USA. It only lasted two seasons in 1998 and 1999. Unfortunately, series like NASCAR seem to be more popular in the states

  • sadly, nickyp28, that's the truth. As someone who lives in the 50th state, I can say that in my state, people think motor racing isn't interesting. However, in the other 48, it's nascar, nascar, more nascar. i really wish the mainstream belief was that race cars are meant to turn right AND left. I wish NASCAR focused more on road racing. lucky britain's got great road racing.

  • I see Matt Neal involved in another collision

  • You can bet that Matt thought it was someone else's fault.

  • Yes indeed, course he blamed Hoy and Bintcliffe for crashing into him, it seemed from the reply Neal rammed the back of Will Hoy.

  • fantasic. best racing in the world.

  • Classic :) Thnx fr uploading

  • Rickard Rydell (^v^)

  • btcc was much better with a feature then sprint race, with pit stops! not 3 races and a stupid wheel of fortune reverse grid!

  • Awesome!! Fantastic stuff.. Wheeey, Plato!!
